After the single "free madness" dropped,terry g's album became one of the most anticipated album of 2009.being a producer is one thing while being an artiste is another.with gingah your swaggah,terry g has proved his critics right that he is more suited to life behind the boards.

Listening to this album,you get the feeling terry g recorded it overnight.the beats sound so amateurish that it is difficult to believe that a producer of his standard could come up with something this awful.some songs cut off suddenly without any explanation("wine dey go" while some sound as if they were never mixed("sangalow".the lyrics are mostly predictable as terry g sticks with gingah the gingah & swaggah the swaggah throughout the album.

"omo naija" is a lukewarm display of patriotism,"put something" is blatantly lewd and raw,"halleluyah" sounds like a weak remake or remix of kelly hansome's maga don pay and "free madness 2" tries to recapture the magic of the original and fails.Terry g's sophomore album doesn't end up being a total disaster as tracks like "gingah seduction"(ft house of gingah),"bad belle"(ft timaya),"fall in love",the infectious "free madness" & the fela inspired "ojukokoro" save the day.

Even with autotune terry g struggles throughout the entire album to make anything meaningful.this is clearly an album that was made under the influence and it will be better for any prospective listener to also be under the influence to listen to it.don't be fooled by terry g's attitude as he doesn't have anything worth your money to offer.while gingah your swaggah season 1 must have been a thrilling mad experiment for terry g it wasn't for us.we will kindly implore him not to waste his time making a season 2.

There is a global recession like we all know,people are losing money everywhere and companies are folding up worldwide.it turns out naija hip hop is not immune to the recession.lets look at naija hip hop as a company and in this scenario iam the C.E.O.the only way to save naija hip hop incorporated from going under or folding up as the case may be is to take some drastic measures to counter the problems we are facing.the first step to take is to identify the problems.

The major problem we are facing is that people no longer buy our products(cds & vcds),personally i buy a lot of cds(lead by example) cos i can afford it,really how much is 100 naira,naija music is relatively cheap.but every now and then i think of all the good things i could have done with all the money wasted on buying these cds.some cds are so bad & useless you can't even give them out cos most naija artistes make trashcan music or rara music(listen once,throw it in the dustbin like pure water sachets).if i was offered some naija albums for 20 naira nowadays,i will have to think about it seriously(i just don't want to mention names).

So in view of that,i have decided to do some downsizing & downcutting.iam looking at those who are redundant and are no longer of use to our company.so to all those that will be affected we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.you have all done a great job but right now,our ideas and ideals are no longer aligned.

1.Obiwon-Its been a pretty long time you have done anything meaningful,i hate to be the one to tell you this but "onyinye" was wack and you would have been better off in your former job.take heart,zenith bank is still hiring.YOU ARE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!

2.OJB-What actually happened to you,you had a bright future.you were working in our production department and you even showed flashes of brilliance in our vocal department.like i told you back then you should have given "searching" to tuface(he would have done a better job).making rick ross your new role model shows that you have lost focus.I HEREBY TERMINATE YOUR APPOINTMENT!

5.Big Lo-You were never meant to be here in the first place.i don't really blame you,i blame 2shotz.you are suppossed to be in Alaba,Aba or Onitsha marketing cds or selling whatever it is you know how to sell.i don't want to see you here again.YOU ARE FIRED!!!!!!

6.Marvellous Benjy-It clearly looks like suo has gone the way of galala.initially we thought you had a marketable product(suo) but contrary to our expectations you went from top 10 to not mentioned at all.though you have succeeded in defrauding and decieving us,we have finally caught up with you.YOU ARE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!

7.Dr Sid-You!!!your own case is a special case.we did all we could for you but it all amounted to nothing.you went to da trybe,you were their weakest link(for crying out loud,da trybe is the harvard of naija rap).you are now in mohits where you should be shining like diamonds considering your background but you are struggling for recognition with people like D prince & K switch. instead of bowing out gracefully,you are intent on destroying all the goodwill left by da trybe.when exactly did you become a doctor?you are nothing but a quack,infact you are a criminal(impersonation of the highest order).I HEREBY TERMINATE YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT!!!!

8.Kenny st Brown-Madam,please sit down & lets talk.due to the relationship we have with your family,we will not be firing you like the others.that is not to say we are pleased with your work ethic.you are always late for work,you are never there when we need you & there has been a lot of complaints/petitions against you(you are not representing gospel artistes very well).did you really make a song with sheyman & da grin?(just curious).to cut a long story short,here is what you need to do for me.take a sheet of paper and write a letter of resignation right now.before you go let me give you a piece of advice,try and get a young gun to take very good care of you and you will be amazed at how soon you will forget about music(i hope you know what i mean).YOUR RESIGNATION LETTER BEFORE WE CLOSE FOR THE DAY!!!!!!

9.Dr Fresh-At this point in time,we have no need for doctors in this company,whether quack or real.the only problem we have with you is that you don't fit the company profile,you are not commited and age is no longer on your side.we are seriously in need of fresh faces.i guess i never told you this before but from my own point of view,you were never an heavy weight champion.YOU ARE F.I.R.E.D

So durella won 5 mil on advance warning,that's good for his career as long as he puts it to good use and stops making it rain in the zanga.who would have thought he will come this far.you won't believe it but the first time i heard durella singing was in a yoruba movie {can't remember the title right now}.that was before ruggedman featured him on "jusile".Durella winning advance warning now shows that once you are talented you will eventually get noticed & probably make it.there are a lot of upcoming artistes out there but the 10 artistes listed below are the ones you really have to watch out for.


1.Oluwe - Being talented is one thing,being a pioneer is another.oluwe is in a world of his own.when you mix apala with hiphop,oluwe is what you get.what this guy is doing is unheard of in the naija music industry & its only a matter of time before he hits the mainstream.his debut album "happy day" is slowly & steadily winning critical acclaim.

2.Kaha - Only 2 artistes have succeeded in killing 2face on a track.kaha happens to be 1 of them,the other being 9ice.When you are on a track with someone as talented as tuface & you manage to stand out,you are definitely good.Kaha's "heartrobber" got decent rotation on tv & radio stations.being a good songwriter is what makes him stand out.

3.Cyrus da virus - You can't help but wonder why cyrus hasn't blown up,this guy has been around for long.he can spit in pidgin & english effortlessly.as tight as his debut album was,it didn't get the expected reception.probably due to bad marketing.i think it is high time cyrus moves down to Lagos.(there has to be a way he can rule benin from gidi)

4.Da grin - Successor to the throne of lord of ajasa,(aremo)awaiting king of yoruba rap.what more can i say about da grin,from "rap rules anthem" to "pon pon pon" every track this guy has laid his vocals on has been outstanding.anytime he spits,he comes correct.his debut album is one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2009.

5.Kel - At last,here comes someone to make sasha look over her shoulders.to say kel is nice on the mic is an understatement.kel is awesome on the mic!!!!.her single "wa waa alright" was hot and we can't help but patiently wait for her debut album.with the music industry in urgent need of female mcs,kel's coming is perfect timing.we only pray & hope she can live up to the hype.

6.Illbliss - Dat ibo boy has shown us what he can do on "U go wound,aiye po gan & shayo(remix)" & with thoroughbred foundations i don't see how ill can go wrong.from what his other ibo brothers(2shotz,nigga raw & ruggedman)have done in the industry it will be foolish to underestimate him.
lyrically illbliss can go head to head with the best of them and with him embracing his roots,he will definitely be a force to reckon with in the near future.

7.M.P - Mr pasa pasa is presently doing it big and will probably do it bigger in the years to come."pasa pasa & no dull yourself" has given him the much needed credibility and recognition. hopefully he can use that as a platform to build up his career in the naija music industry.from what we have heard from M.P so far,it is clear to see that he knows what naija people want to hear & will keep giving it to them.

8.Kelly hansome - The first time you hear kelly's "maga don pay",you feel it is a rip off of yahoozee,but after listening to his debut album you realized that he is as talented as your favorite artiste and might be the one to breathe new life into kennis music.his hit single "like play" is steadily rising on the charts.been on the most hated record label in Nigeria hasn't done him much good but with keke & d1 throwing all their weight behind him,he will definitely have a huge & successful career.

9.General pype - Who is pype?(very simple)Pype is naija's sean paul.the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this guy is:what is sean paul doing on this track.this guy caught everybody unawares.presently pype is the only one keeping the flag flying for reggae in the naija music industry.an exceptionally talented artiste who has what it takes to resurrect reggae in Nigeria.

10.Terry G - If you didn't know terry g b4,by now you should,unless you are living under a rock.you only have to turn on the radio these days to hear terry g.this guy is on almost every hot song out there.infact once you have terry g on your song,it will probably be a hit.one major advantage he has over all the others is his production skills.though his debut album "free me" performed below expectation,terry still has everything going for him.

As long as modenine is alive and keeps making those rap songs no one wants to listen to,he will keep winning this award.mode has been with HHW from the very beginning and will keep winning this category even if M.I is lyrically better than him.infact iam starting to think they created this category just for him,if not how do you justify mode winning this.during last year's award when hiptv presenters asked him how he felt about the awards modenine rhymed this"[b]whether we win or lose,we will still go home and eat our food"and he even went as far as pointing it out to the presenters like "you see,i rhymed there".[/b]Is this in whom you place your faith?

[Like a perfect gentleman,i would like to apologize to all those who felt offended by my top ten countdown.never knew my top ten will generate so much interest & controversy.i have been getting all sorts of mails and some people even went as far as cursing & raining abuses on me.no hard feelings,its all good.

A lot of people criticised my ratings.just so you know,the ratings was based on how successful an artist has been,how many hits he/she has,what impact he/she has made in the music industry.

i am so pro-Nigerian that i made sure that everyone on my top ten can spit/flow in either yoruba,hausa,igbo or pidgin.spitting in english is also an added advantage.so if you can find an artiste who meets all these standards & wasn't on my list.let me know

I believe any naija rapper worth his salt should be able to flow in his mother tongue.

if you take away everyone on my list from the rap industry,there will be nothing left(simple arithmetic).so until mode or m.i make a ruggedy baba or kini big deal type of song,they will never be mentioned in the same breath as ruggedman or naeto c.

some said i should have called it top 10 most successful/influential rappers in Nigeria.others said i should have called it top 10 indigenous rappers in Nigeria,but i chose to call it mic check-top 10 rappers in Nigeria and i owe no one an apology.
