Celebrities / 5 Artistes Who Should Be On Celebrity Ultimate Search by julian21(f): 1:28pm On Apr 07, 2010
www.9jahiphop..com

1. DON JAZZY – I would like to see what the audience will think of him since he doesn’t talk much and acts like he has a speech problem. I hope his co contestants will understand sign language. Won’t his walking stick be confiscated as a weapon? How will he cope without his underlings around him?

2. MI – The chocolate city MC wouldn’t last long on the show as he will be shown the door real fast when they get to vertically challenging tasks like jumping up and plucking fruits. The little man won’t make it to the screen unless they are casting for a leprechaun.

3. DA GRIN – This one will be a really tough one for the producers because I don’t think that Da grin can complete a sentence in queens English. That edition will have to come with subtitles or be limited to the west.

4. MUNACHI ABI – The wannabe rapper would finally have the chance to get some street cred or jungle cred as the case may be. I am really curious like everyone else to see what she looks like without make up and see what insect bites will do to that beautiful skin of hers.

5.  TERRY G – How long can Terry G stay off the ginjah? I believe we will finally get the answer to that question if this were to happen. The producers must be prepared to see an uncoordinated individual running stark naked around the jungle. How is that for reality?
Celebrities / 5 Reasons Why Daddy Showkey Will Win Gus by julian21(f): 1:24pm On Apr 07, 2010
FROM www.9jahiphop..com

That all the contestants of the celebrity gulder ultimate search have made their way into the jungle is no longer news. The debate about who will win the show has begun. Here are five reasons why I think Daddy Showkey will win.

1. HE IS FROM AJEGUNLE

Ajegunle has always been the hardest hood in Nigeria long before I go dye knew how to pronounce area. Simply put, it is the gulliest borough in the whole of Nigeria. For someone that comes from there, living and surviving in GUS’s jungle will be a piece of cake.

2. HE NEEDS THE MONEY THE MOST

No disrespect, but daddy showkey is not in the pay bracket of all the other contestants (that’s not to say that he is broke, although he might be). Believe it or not, money is a great motivator; it makes you do the impossible at times. So be prepared to see the dreadlocked singer outdo the competition.

3. A WIN COULD GET HIS CAREER BACK ON TRACK

With a career sicker than our leader, any exposure at this point in time will be a blessing and GUS might just be the silver lining in Daddy showkey’s cloudy career. An album titled “live from the jungle” with guest appearances from co-contestants Obesere, Weird mc, Dare art alade & Muma gee and skits by princess might just bring him back into the game.

4. HE IS THE REALEST

Let’s not forget that the show is a reality show (even though it isn’t as real as it should be) and calls for a lot of realness. One thing we can be sure of is that daddy showkey will go out there, tell it like it is and do it the way it is supposed to be done. The audience and the producers will really appreciate his realness as this will give the show some much needed credibility.

5. THE OTHER CONTESTANTS ARE PRETTY SOFT

Although I may not go as far as calling all the other contestants a bunch of pussies, it is pretty glaring to see that they are no match for Daddy showkey, the man has too much street sense and is physically fit. I don’t see Obesere outrunning him or Dare art alade outthinking him.

NOMINEES
R&B SONG OF THE YEAR
Taboo-Wande coal
I am in love-Faze
Not the girl-Dare art alade
Yori yori-Bracket

Wande coal’s taboo – Another testament to the success of WC’s debut album “mushin 2 mohits”, “Taboo” which happened to be the second single off the debut album had us all thinking there was nothing wande couldn’t do.

Faze’s I am in love – For those who thought that the former plantashun boy had lost his mojo and couldn’t come up with another soulful & melodic tune. This song totally proved them wrong and made everyone realize that he still had a lot to offer. It is when faze gets in this full R&B mode that people start comparing him with Tuface.

Dare art alade’s not the girl – One thing about Darey is that he will never compromise on quality and he can never stop making good old R&B, 2009 was supposed to be his breakout year but the competition was really stiff with the likes of WC & Bracket, but that won’t stop this cobhams penned hit from going down as one of the best R&B songs ever made in Nigeria.

Bracket’s yori yori – Underneath the silly name of this group lies pure talent, Bracket totally ruled the airwaves and the charts in 2009. There is no place in Nigeria where this song has not been heard over and over again. In the nearest future when people are talking about the greatest hits of naija, “yori yori” will either be at the top or very close to it.

And the winner is……,

BRACKET – YORI YORI

Honorable mentions
-Azeezat’s Ife
-Essence’s Kalangolo
-Banky W’s Strong ting

NOMINEES
BEST COLLABO
You bad-Wande coal/D banj
Big boy-Eldee/Olu maintain/Banky W/Oladele
In love with an angel-Dat nigga raw/TJ
Aiye po gan-Illbliss/Terry G

Eldee's big boy - This is a song that reeks of class, style & finesse. Naija's own version of swagger like us. When 4 of naija's finest artists combine, what else do you get if not a hit. Bragging about wealth and success has never sounded this good before. Although most peeps will argue that Eldee sold out on this one but it is pretty difficult to hate on this song.

Dat nigga raw & TJ's in love with an angel - This song should have been called from abia with love (just kidding), dat nigga raw showed a lot of versatility and experience on this one as he successfully finds the middle ground between keeping it real and going commercial. Truth be told, he would never have succeeded without the vocal backing of TJ.

Wande coal & D'banj's you bad - Just when we were thinking that Wande couldn’t come out with something better than his first 2 singles, he dropped this banger and showed the doubters just how serious he was of taking over the charts & airwaves. The only song that will make any good girl want to go bad.

Illbliss & Terry G’s aiye po gan – We don’t even have enough space to talk about just how good this song is. This was Terry G before he started gingahing his swagger & freed madness, Dat ibo boy finally succeeded in conquering the west with this one. The thorobreds will definitely learn something about mass appeal by following in his footsteps.

And the winner is……,

ELDEE FT OLU MAINTAIN/BANKY W/OLADELE – BIG BOY

Honorable mentions
-K solo,Lord of ajasa,Da grin,LKT & Konga’s salo
-Jamix,9ice,MI & Terry G’s omo naija

NOMINEES
BEST RAP SONG BY DUO OR GROUP
Too fine-Kel/Alaye/May D
Sample-Terry da rapman/Pherowshuz/Stereoman
Da finest-Knighthouse/Sauce kid/Teeto
Make doe-Da grin/dark poet

Da grin & Dark poet's make doe - Emi ni best, sugbon efe fun mi ni crown, okay let's not get carried away, we don't have to go over the lyrics again to convince ourselves that these cats were on point on this one.

Terry da rapman & Pherowshuz's sample - Now this is what i am talking about, I always knew someone was going to sample stereoman one day but i never knew it was going to be 2 of naija's finest lyricists. With the way Terry & Pherowshuz went in on this one it was clear to see why dem boys were not smiling. when you deliver lines like these dudes do, it is going to be quite difficult to be smiling at the same time.

Knighthouse's da finest - There is only one word with which this song can be described "respect". In the nearest future, this song will be remembered as the turning point in the careers of Teeto,Sauce kid & Mo cheddah. This is a song that puts the fear of God in you, when you listen to this song, the first thing that comes to your mind is who are these people & where are they headed. With cats like these the future of naija hip hop looks pretty bright.

Kel & Alaye's too fine - The first thing that makes this song really really nice is the beat. At this point in time, i believe that TY mix is hands down the best producer in Nigeria (sorry Don jazzy). How do you produce a song and have people start thinking it was produced by Irv gotti? That is a question only TY mix can answer. Kel & Alaye also didn't disappoint as their verses were sick and may d's hook was tight.

And the winner is,

KNIGHTHOUSE FT SAUCE KID,MO CHEDDAH & TEETO - DA FINEST

Honorable mentions
2 shotz & MI's make some noise
Knighthouse,Kel,Eldee & Othello's Ijinle pam pam
Kel & Illbliss's die hustling
Cartiair,Da Grin,Eva,Terry da Rapman & Gino's Owo ati swagger (remix)

UNDERDOGS 2009
I know iam supposed to call this,flops/losers of 2009 but i don't want to be too hard on these brothers, they really tried their best but their best wasn't just good enough.don't laugh at them.at least they tried,so lets cheer them up and clap for them(not a standing ovation thing or with your palms,i mean with your fingers like they do it in primary schools).just look at this like an end of year performance report.

1.P SQUARE
-P square totally tanked this year!!!!!!!,it's not like iam happy to see people fail although iam somehow pleased that the okoyes bricked.from being everyone's darling,Dem boyz have now become the laughing stock of the whole music industry.who would have thought a day will come when p square will fail to have a major hit on the charts.infact people were beginning to think they were untouchable until their album "danger" dropped and relieved them of their teflon aura.

2.TERRY G
-Terry g started out on a good note but fizzled out towards the 4th quarter of the year, initially everyone was on terry's nuts for a verse,a hook or a beat but the story changed as soon as everyone got a taste of terry's insanely underwhelming album "gingah ur swaggah".the major lesson we can learn from this is that all gingah and no talent makes you a poor artiste.

3.RUGGEDMAN
-Ruggedy baba is the chief culprit here.infact this list should be called ruggedy baba & company.at the beginning of the year,he had everything set up for him to blow up big time.he never capitalised on the modenine beef.any reasonable artiste would have used that to re-establish his/her buzz, ruggedy could have at least dropped a mixtape filled with modenine disses but he chose to end the year on a quiet note with no album,no mixtape and no major cameos.i never thought it was possible to turn a win/win situation into a loss.

4.OLU MAINTAIN
-When next you hear someone talking about falling from top 10 to not mentioned at all, they are definitely talking about olu maintain.this dude went from having the biggest song in the nation "yahoozee" to wack songs like "karmakazee & arab money".how do you explain that?these days whenever i think of a one hit wonder, the only person that comes readily to mind is olu maintain.

5.JIM IYKE
-I am not really sure if JI(what he calls himself these days) should be on this list but i think the fact that he attempted to drop or probably dropped an album(haven't seen the album anywhere yet) this year qualifies him for this.just one look at the video of his single "who am i" featuring tuface will tell you all you what to expect from his unreleased or released album.the fact that nobody is checking out for him clearly underlines his failure.
Music/Radio / Re: Album Review-tradition-9ice by julian21(f): 2:48pm On Dec 17, 2009
i JUST LISTENED TO THE ALBUM AND I MUST CONFESS THAT IAM TOTALLY DISSAPOINTED,THERE IS NO SINGLE SONG ON THAT ALBUM THAT IAM CRAZY ABOUT.THE REVIEWER WAS WAY TOO NICE.IF IT WAS ME I WILL RATE THE ALBUM 4/10.
JUST A PIECE OF CRAP.
