Simply go and pay a new fee. I paid for MRV 3 times before I went for my interview. I had a similar experience. Cryomancer: |

Transcript Me: Good Morning V.O: Good Morning V.O: can you pass me your passport? Me: Passed the passport V.O: What are you studying at UC Berkeley Me: LLM V.O: You are going to UC Berkeley, Why UC? Me: I am focusing on energy law. V.O: Why Energy Law? Me: Nigeria is currently grappling with the required power for development. Infact, she is in a full blown energy crisis. I want to focus my studies on the legal and regulatory aspect of the electricity market. California is one of the leaders in renewable energy, I want to learn about the system and find a way of adapting what suits our system. Nigeria must be able to develop the needed electricity infrastructure to power the economy. V.O: I can see that you onces studied in France? Me: Yes, I studied at one of France's Grand Ecole, precisely, Sciencespo Paris. He focused on his computer. I suspected that he was confirming a few things about Sciencespo. V.O: Oh! It has another name. I know the school with the other name. A good university. Me: yes. V.O: What did you study in Paris? Me: Masters in Energy Politics. Energy warrants a cross-discipline, cross-sector study as its supply and use is centre-stage of heated political debate at all levels, in relation to economic growth, sustainable development and climate change. V.O: When did you study in France? Me: Between 2013-2015 V.O: You are married? Me: Yes, I am. V.O: Any kid? Me: I have a kid V.O: Will they be going with you? Me: No. V.O: I could see that you have a scholarship Me: Yes V.O: Can I see the scholarship letter? Me: I handed it over to him and he began to scrutinize it. Me: I was awarded 20,000 dollars. Divided into 10,000 each semester. On my i-20, only 10,000 dollars was there. V.O: Your visa is approved. Have this leaflet, it contains information for US bound student. And this white paper. You should pick your passport in 3 days. Congratulations and have a nice time in California. Me: Thanks. My personal opinion I have guided a few students (genuine) to get admission to Universities in UK, US and France. One thing I tell them is that someone should always make sure that he or she is a genuine student. While this is not rigid, the following are my personal conviction to being successful at US visa interviews: 1. Note that no two interviews are 100% the same. You have to be alert enough and try asmuchas possible to avoid cramming your lines. Be flexible. 2. Do your best to be admitted to any of the tier 1 schools. If you can’t, go for only the top tier 2 schools and NOTHING LESS. Not only that good schools make your interview easy, it also helps in recouping your investment- top schools pay off earlier. 3. Have genuine documents. US embassy now confirms your documents at random. There is a rising case of students subjected to administrative processing. Be on the good side of the law. 4. Prepare for your interview. You can’t substitute good preparation for anything. Other things you do are addendum. 5. Be attentive when you get to the interview centre. I gained more listening to the transcripts of 3 students that were interviewed before me. I used them as a leapfrog. Do it too. 6. Be yourself. No stress, no panicking. Be confident and above all, trust in God. Do your part and leave the rest for God. No one beats his or her destiny. I succeeded. You can and infact, you will! |
omoobaadeNGR:The USPS is a waste of time, kindly avoid. I paid 3visa fees because my i20 was sent via usps. The first class mail takes 3 weeks. Pls AVOID! It's penny wise, pounds foolish. |
Nwaobiegue:Issued. |
Pepperoni001:Fill your correct profile and go for your interview. The VO may not even notice this. However, you must be well prepared t defend why you are attending that school. In my opinion, that is where your real challenge lies. Cheers |
Felizz:In my opinion, the school is not in the top schools to spend such a fee on. Have you considered the ROI on your investment However, time and chance are key in one's fortune. If you are confident on your option, go for it. Only that the stats and economics do not support your path. I may be wrong afterall. |
jossywayne:I replied your email. |
4gunners:As long as you have considered the ROI and it is favourable, I will advise that you should consider it. It is a cheaper option to continuing as a student. Not easy to finance the education alone except your parents are very rich. |
Felizz:The fee is high but if I may ask, what's your course? Which university? |
4gunners:I took a loan and my visa was granted. In my case, it showed on my I-20 that the funds was my personal fund. I f you don't mind, which school are you attending and who is the financier? |
dreambound:Thank you for your response. I did contact DHL but my passport was not there. I have however found an update on my case yesterday evening. |
Flaame:LLM UC Berkeley |
Bracha:Hey, I did not ask you any direct question. You can skip it and let it go if what I posted offends you. Live and let others live! A few people contacted me privately and I offered my help in my little way. Not everybody will rush here to post transcripts of a visa that is not yet in his or her hands. Anyway, relax, I will post the transcript later for others to pick one or two points. |
My F1 visa was approved last Tuesday. I was advised to pick up my passport 48hours afterwards. Wednesday was a public holiday. Thursday and Friday were working days. However, my passport is still at the embassy when I tracked it this morning. My school resumes in 2 days. I have sent the embassy a message but no reply yet. What can I do? |
My message is coming late. But I am working on the value chain to catfish. Are you still working on this area? Happy to collaborate with you |

YERIMA AND ITS CHILD’S MARRIAGE THEORY By: ERUKILEDE JULIUS Esq. I have carefully listened to different arguments, concerns and also consider the pros and the cons of the current debate on the alleged “child marriage” clause as deliberated by the Senate on the 19th July, 2013 during the constitutional amendment clause by clause reviews. However, I must first admit that the amendment process is neither a vote for child marriage nor a vote against it. The process generated this protracted argument because of the way Senator Yerima, a member of the constitutional review committee addressed an issue that could have been resolved during one of their several sittings before it came to the committee of whole. I must quickly point out that if this observation was made by another senator rather than this perceived randy senator; it might not have generated the kind of controversy and response that we have witnessed. The controversy is also partly due to the perception that gender advocates, right thinking members of the society (women and men) have regarding senator Yerima and his 13 year old Egyptian marriage saga some months ago. However, I believe that the fear of average Nigerians that reason rationally should be taken seriously. I therefore challenge the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency remove Section 18 (Educational objective) of the constitution from Chapter 2, and move it to chapter 4 of the constitution making it justiceable as against the non-justiceable status it presently enjoys. By virtue of the current Government policy, education is not only free but compulsory up to JSS 3 level. What the national Assembly needs to do is to make it a criminal offence for any parent that fails to educate his wards. I suggest that Normadic/Quranic education should be integrated to accommodate the yearning of the northern Muslims who want their children to be properly brought up in the Islamic way. This to me will put to bed early marriages that are rampant in some part of the North. To my chagrin surprise, my discussion with an Islamic scholar of Yoruba extraction yesterday on this nagging issue made me speechless. He admitted that he wouldn’t give his children out at 18 not even 12 or 13 but does not see anything wrong with Yerima’s position because he only follows an established Islamic doctrine. He further informed me that the instruction in the Quaran and Hadith is that once a female child has reached puberty; she must not menstruate consecutively in her parent’s house. He also reliably informed me that in some parts of Katsina State that he is familiar with, the inhabitants have even abused the practice by giving out there children for marriage as early as the age of six years. According to the National Demographic Health Survey report of 2012, Nigeria produces 12,000 new infected Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) on a yearly basis. The 2013 statistics in deadly, according to the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina, estimated 400,000 to 800,000 cases with 20,000 new cases added each year, the highest in the world. There are several questions we need to ask ourselves: What are the medical and psychological effects of child’s marriage on these victims? Who cares about the mere slave status these older men turned them to? Are there checks and balances to guarantee their safety? In as much as I have read the purported argument/defense of Senator Yerima on this issue and some other people in his boat, I consider these arguments as baseless, inconsequential, reckless and of no effect. Will early marriage guarantee child’s promiscuity? – Maybe and Maybe not! However, does child’s marriage constitute medical and physical challenges to these children? Your answer is as good as mine. Why must we be leading in terrible things and be a back benchers in fruitful endeavours? We need to ask ourselves this pertinent question. If our present legislators fail to use this constitution amendment process to make a section that will proscribe child’s marriage, history will not forgive them. I am aware that 90% of core Islamic countries have proscribed child’s marriages through legislative enactment; this senate has a golden opportunity not only to make history but to put Nigeria on an accelerated growth. I should also say it clear that Nigeria is not an Islamic, Christianity or a Pagan state. It is a heterogeneous country. SECTION 10 of the 1999 CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AS AMMENDED clearly states that “the Government of the Federation or of a state shall not adopt any religion as State Religion”. It is only on this basis that Senator Yerima and his co-travellers would be put into the dustbin of history thereby enabling us to march as a united country into greatness. Long live Nigeria. |
