The Labour Party in Osun State has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission to beam their searchlight on the activities of Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration. The Chairman of the LP in the state, Mr. Tunde Olatunji, and the former governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday, after its stakeholders’ meeting. The opposition party said the inability of the state government to pay its workers and other problems confronting the state were caused by the maladministration of the All Progressives Congress government in the state. The statement read, “Our dear state is in a messy situation today and the people are messed up too through the visionless administration of Aregbesola. Many things have gone awry which now make it compelling more than ever before for the EFCC and ICPC to look seriously into the activities of the Aregbesola administration. “We can’t continue like this. The situation is hopeless. Salaries are not being paid and everything appears to be at a standstill. “Aregbesola has ruined our state and bruised the psyche of our people. Earnestly, our people are yearning for a desired change. This, we must all work towards. Enough of this deceit which has foisted untold hardship on our people.” Meanwhile, the APC in the state has said history will vindicate Aregbesola. The ruling part said the governor had performed very well, contrary to the claims of his critics. The APC said this through the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi. The ruling party said this while responding to the award which the Nigerian Association of Primary Schools Head-Teachers presented to the governor to acknowledge his education policy. Oyatomi said, “History will vindicate Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, regardless of what pessimists and envious critics may have to say about his tenure. “Indeed, knowledgeable people in the country, who have seen through the quality and content of his programmes, are already giving their thumps up, especially on education.” www.punchng.com/probe-aregbesola-regime-osun-lp-tells-efcc/ |

The Dutse Local Government
Council of Jigawa said on
Tuesday that it would vaccinate
no fewer than 97,000 children
against measles during the
forthcoming immunisation
exercise.
Alhaji Sani Yusif, the Health
Education Officer, told the News
Agency of Nigeria in Dutse that
the council had received enough
doses of the vaccines for smooth
conduct of the exercise.
Yusuf, who spoke through the
council’s Information Officer,
Malam Ya’u Garba, disclosed that
625 ad-hoc staff had been
trained to administer the
vaccines in 101 designated
centers across the area.
He commended traditional and
religious leaders for mobilising
people to participate in the
exercise and solicited for more
cooperation to ensure its
success.
Yusuf particularly appealed to
parents to make their children
available for the immunisation
slated for November 21 to
November 25.
