because most entry and exit zones already put trackers on goods in transit... This will just be another talk show bureaucratic institution hindering trade.
If the goal is to stop trafficking, fix immigration and custom.
Customs Directors General from Nigeria, Ghana and three neighbouring African countries have agreed to connect to the ECOWAS electronic Interconnected Transit Goods Management System (SIGMAT), regarding goods transiting the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor( before September 2024). The agreement is aimed at easing trade on the corridor through the electronic sharing of information on goods in transit, as against manual documentation along borders, among others.
What the above policy seeks to address are issues relating to “Cargo diversion”. We have seen Nigeria bound cargoes use other ports within the ECOWAS community. This has contributed to smuggling and loss of revenue.
By connecting to the ECOWAS electronic Interconnected Transit Goods Management System (SIGMAT), importers from Nigeria can use any port however the expected tariff will be paid and accrued to the Nigerian authorities.
NIMASA is also working to ensure the creation of ship-to-ship zones to avoid cargo diversion to neighbouring countries.
POKUASI2: oga shift abeg. Are we talking same ghana where you can't leave your house without meeting beggers of all ages. Elderly, middle age and children. Even youths are begging money to feed. Some are even telling to buy food for them. What is statista when I know what is happening on ground. Same ghana that minimum wage is 14 cedis and a piece of fried chicken sold by the road corner is sold for 15 cedis
what do you think Market research analysis is? Is it collected from the skies?
Yeah we allow fulani beggers into Ghana just as we allow jobless Nigerians like you into Ghana who end up luring your sisters from Nigeria into prostitution in Ghana. Just like I meet a few Nigerians begging here as well and wonder why they won't go home. It's called ecowas, and it's been bad for Ghana on all front.
A pound of chicken is 35 cedis if you need hard chicken, fry your own chicken and you'll have enough for a week.
POKUASI2: The slogan chanting fraudster knows his people have low low IQ hence wipe up anti Nigerian sentiment anytime he noticed his mumu people are about to ask questions. Example is the presss conference calling for a ban on Nigerian music which was organized by the president's daughter. There was a planned protest against hardship from the 1st to 31st of December and the president's daughter saw what was coming and quickly organized a press conference announcing a ban on Nigerian music and protest seized
you wish you were that important. 😂🤣 Most times I wonder where you leave your brain
A court injunction was placed on all protests activities for the month of December in order to focus police strength on providing security for the nation.
The situation in Ghana is far much worse but the youth are cowards.
You're just stupid
If you weren't, you won't be comparing your spending power to that of Ghanaians. The disposable income of most Ghanaians is much higher than Kenyans because there are more Ghanaians in the upper end of the spectrum who wouldn't want to rock the boat because they have much more to loose. That is not the same for kenyans
Yes Ghanaians have been protesting over every single shit for 8 years.
Obiano13: It's not like they have a choice. They have been categorically told so by the entire population. They now have to choose their bed and lie in it. This is not tiny Ghana where citizens can't even protest. Here the citizens talk and the govt has no choice.
The people you owe are the ones who matter at the moment......
You so badly want to talk about Ghana, here, people protest all the time and it never ever results in shooting of protestors
Obiano13: No one has a problem with that as long as the govt cuts its excessive spending, all govt officials must cut their salaries and bonuses significantly before they even think of taxing us more. They must also seal all corruption loopholes before even contemplating taxing us one shilling more. Its a very simple point but obviously its lost to a short dwarf like you from an insignificant country.
all of which won't happen..
I'm taller than you, and that makes you a dwarf ...stop typing like a girl menstruating and face your hunger.
Fun fact, my country will always be significant than yours but let's not digress
Obiano13: This is why Nigerians will continue to be shafted by their government forever. Kenyans have said enough is enough. If the govt dont listen to the will of the people the people wont listen to them.
funny thing is ....those taxes will still be imposed. Either directly through the ports or indirectly through VAT
gallivant: Ruto is a benevolent leader. He knows he is dealing with a privileged generation. The government and police is showing unprecedented restraint. Let's see how long they will allow these kids to have their fun before they crack the whip.
AskiaHarem: That’s because not everybody on a civilian basis be it individual or group is equal. Some indolent, the failing, some scraping by, most vibing, some succeeding, some Excelling. There isn’t a one voice because the Nigerian experience has a much wider spectrum than say Kenya or Mali.
The indolent just want everybody and everything to burn so they can scavenge the ashes or install there own corrupt system to benefit there own group. [Anarchist Revolutionist/Coup]
The failing who find themselves struggling to escape the bottom weather it be from there own inadequacy or unfortunate circumstances in the unforgiving atmosphere of a developing nation-state where opportunities can be scarce at times. [Hard Revolutionist/Coup]
The Scrapers who are one step above the failing who only make ends meet(scrape by) and struggle with advancing further do to said circumstances. [Soft Revolutionist/Hard Reformist]
The Vibers aka the middle grown or the local middle class. There generally somewhat of if not totally secure both lower & upper. They have prospects of going up in the ladder; but also know a bad move can throw them off. They prefer not to risk rocking the boat to much. [Hard-Reformist]
The Succeeding who are able to harness there skills and secure opportunities; are usually always climbing the latter with a positive outlook for the future. Like Vibers they prefer not to rock the boat to much and risk compromising there growth if at all. [Soft-Reformist]
The Excellers these are the rocketeers of Nigerian society; on there way to becoming extremely wealthy and influential if they aren’t already are. Like anybody these people could have have achieved their place through birthright, nefarious actions, or honest hard work. These people want little if anything to change “fundamentally” because it’s working out for them. [Soft-Reformist/No Change]
As said before there is no “One Voice” for Nigeria and likely never will in the foreseeable future because the Naija experience & retrospective is far to nigh equally broad with no class or group having the upper hand.
The average Nigerian is more interested in restructuring/reforms. Anyone who attempts extreme measures or holds zero urgency will never have a platform to get off the ground which is honestly for the better.
you capture it perfectly ,everyone has interest. People don't like to rock the boat when succeeding, in spite of the government. You know why they don't, because they've got skin in the game.
For this same reason during pre independence days, people without skin in the game weren't allowed to vote.
Obiano13: It will happen in one of the following two ways.
1. Ruto will honorably step down following laid down constitutional means. 2. Ruto will drop the finance bill entirely and call all Kenyans to the table after which a roadmap will be established.
The vacuum is in your Ghanaian head.
good luck .... One thing that never happens in Kenya is for a government to back down when the decision is not even coming from them and not especially one that the US govt holding it neck.
Good luck with the wishful thinking....Ruto can decide to sit and watch you guys demonstrate for 2 months straight without police or the military
Obiano13: You are a mere Ghanaian dwarf. You should shut up and see how swiftly we will make the needed fixes. This is the final hurdle literally before we embark on complete restoration and development. Kenya will quickly undo Ruto's Mobutu-level excesses, the US puppet.
You're fuckin dumb as a Kenyan to think there's anyway out for you guys. The Burden you're demonstrating against is coming from the IMF The only way to not have it is if your country manages to some how increase productivity by 40% which will not happen hence one way or the other, those taxes will be imposed.
Obiano13: In most Kenyans minds we dont even have a government. All they had was to drop that IMF bill but they stuck to it because they were the biggest benefactors.
But the problem wasn't created today and those tax hikes seem to be the only solution in addition to the imf program....borrowing too much and not investing them into profitable business always bring everyone here.
GeneralDae: Same thing with Nigeria. The debt servicing for the past one year have increased tremendously. The policy reforms in Nigeria and Argentina and probably Kenya as well have been quite hard on the citizens.
Sometimes I envy Ghana. Yes they’ve defaulted which would always affect their credit rating but now they wouldn’t have to continuously service those debts (at least for some years to come).
Don't envy us oo
We also have our own problems we have to deal with, while our tolerance levels are high because of spending power, we have a 6 months window we are all looking forward to.
POKUASI2: Look whose talking governance issue. Do you think I'm that far not to know the reality on ground. At least Nigeria is not being ran on propaganda. And Nigerians didn't hype a sleek talking fraudster that has turned a country upside down in 8 years. PR don't run a country.
