I did not. The guy gave me the phone like that to b using since I lost my phone. I can only use it with mifi for now. I think he was trying to upgrade and got the imei corrupted.

Google apps on SM-A7000 it's a chinese variant device and China devices has a restriction that is The phones doesn't support google..but I will still search around on it today to see if you can at least use gapps

in my cause on developing and understanding Samsung phones and model I noticed most phones that has four zeros then to be Asian version model of that phone..like A series Which had A8000[4 zeros ] your A7 [A7000] note 3 N9000 they are all Asian models.. The European and other continents versions has only 3 zeros like A700 A800 N900.. So you don't need to panic.. I have a feeling you can still work some magic on your phone as long as it is original and not a dubbed version

try using another phone to snap the command that comes up in the download mode after the buttons combinations.. Let me see it..

If the issue is that a former owner flashed the phone with the ROM from a different variant, that's different from a refurbished phone.

A genuine refurbished phone will be a phone that's been repaired by authorized Samsung repairer and will have the right ROM flashed.

However, if it was by a non authorized repairer, its possible for it to be flashed with the wrong ROM

Please I know most of us want tweak and install custom rom on our Samsung phones.. But let me give us a little tip
If your the type that like tweaking their phones.. Not all Samsung phones rom developers port Roms for..
Most phones in which rom developer's port rom for are as follows
S4
S5
S6
S7
S8
Note 3
Note 4
Note 5
Note 7
Note 8..
Not withstanding some branded snapdragon models of the phones support custom roms
So in case we intend to buy any Samsung phones with the aim of flashing custom roms we should try to focus more on the following models of Samsung.. Your 85 to 90 percent sure of having a custom rom for any of them
I can boastly tell galaxy s4 of 2013 has an s8 rom for it..
Note: am not saying other phone models don't have roms trust me dey do.. But you would have to search the web well to get to see any.. Unless your lucky the developer of the rom decides to include some other models in which his ported rom can work for.. It happens sometimes.. A ported rom for note 3 can end up working for A8 or A7 or C9 or C7 etc. It depends..

Good day Chief! Please I use a Samsung A7(2015), my cousin in China gave it to me. Sad thing is it doesn't support Google Play Store and any thing Google Apps, I dont even have a map on the phone. it's the 4.4 that came with it Im still managing. Thank God for ApkPure. That's where I've been able to get a few apps. My questions... Please what exactly might be the problem? I cant even download Root checker to ascertain if the device is rooted or not. am so sorry to hear about your constraints.. The issue is perhaps the phone is a Chinese version of the A7.. So about rooting.. Rooting is even the last thing you should be bothered about on the phone.. But first thing First.. Try checking the phone model of the phone on the about device in settings and in download mode [switch off the phone completely press and hold power Button.. Volume down button and middle home button at the same time.. Once the phone boots let go of the power button then a command screen will come up Press volume up to continue.. Another screen will come up at the top left screen you would see the model of the phone.. Tell me the model you see there .... I have shown how to detect original phones from Chinese models and refurbished models. Check that and get back to me.. From there we can know what to do

Are you sure the right word is 'refurbished'? Because a refurbished phone is just a phone that's been repaired! Unless it was repaired by a non authorized Samsung repair center, there should be no issues with the model number you see or maybe it's a fake internals inside the Samsung body

you don't repair software related issues like the way you repair hardware issues.. And nothing like fake internals inside a Samsung body.. A Samsung Note 3 n9005 panel cannot work on a Samsung n900 panel self if that's what you mean by fake internals ..anything model and variants are all software thing ..so when I say refurbished I don't just mean hardware repair only I also mean software repair.. You can have a model s4 i9500 in settings about device but when you check it download mode you would see i9506.. It's possible nothing like internals was changed or dey put i9506 fake internals in it.. It has be flashed with that variant by the person who initially had the phone.. And want to sell it out.. But a novice would not take notice of it

yes you can root the phone.. Mind you.. Rooting is not a criterion for firmware upgrade.. Once you have the file of the firmware.. You can easily flash it via odin ..you don't need to root your phone to do that.. You only need rooting to flash and install custom rom not official firmware..

Please I want to send a very valueless advice to us all who intend buying any Samsung phones.. I notice most of us buy our phones all in the name of the physical properties not taking consideration into the software versions and model of the phone because ignorance like this can hurt us having full access to how we want to tweak or manipulate our phones later in future am saying this for those who intend doing so.. And also for us who mostly buy UK or fairly used Samsung phones..
Always take into consideration the following before buying any Samsung phone
1.make sure the device model in the about device in setting tallies with the same in the download mode [once you buy the phone especially if it is UK used phone.. Before you pay for the phone ask the seller permission for you to switch off the phone once the phone is off press home button.. Power button and volume button at the same..a instruction would come up press volume button up to continue.. At the top left of the phone.. You would see some information which contains the model of your phone.. Take notice if the model number does not tally with the one in about device in the settings of the phone please don't buy that phone it's a refurbished phone.. But they both tally. It's original.. That's how to detect original Samsung from refurbished phone's...
2.Samsung always release most of their phones on two processors model snapdragon and exynos.. Most times European versions carry snapdragon while Africa and other continents carry exynos.. Now for those who always want to root tweak and install custom on their phones.. If you don't have plans for what I listed then you can buy any model or variants you wnt.. Now back to the topic.. Always buy unbranded phones.. I mean pure versions not network branded versions like T-Mobile AT&T Verizon Sprint etc..
I will be listing best versions for s4 s5 s6 s7 s8 note 3 4 5 7 8 in case you intend buying any on the future

yes I tried the hacking for it.. But they have upgraded their software for the app to detect any manipulations ..so am sorry it's not possible to hack it.. Only way to get dent coins is through referrals..

yes it is available.. S8plus custom rom should be available for the s7..but since your version is a USA version snapdragon "U" at the end of the "0" it means it's boot loader is locked.. Which you can't remove.. So sorry that version cannot install custom rom

you can manually update it to 6.0 .its not necessary you must do it over the air

if am not wrong Samsung stopped update on galaxy a8 2015 on marsh mellow 6.0.. You can upgrade to Android 6.0 but not 7.0

yours is a branded s4 ATandT if am not wrong.. It depends if the firmware is compatible with your phone.. The build number is not really and issue. What your concern should be is that any firmware I plan to flash on my phone must be compatible with my phone.. So as long as the firmware is for galaxy s4 sgh1337.. You have no worries
