Sagamite:

What genocide? Do you take Igbo?

Why don't you buy a dictionary and look up genocide to know how to use the word. Dictionaries nowadays normally give examples of use in sentence context apart from definition.

He is your hero because he was trustful and loyal in killing and looting?

Is that all you come up with?

Politics / Atiku Accused Of Forging Opinion Polls by justise: 6:35am On Dec 22, 2010
Abuja — Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation has been accused of forging an opinion polls that was recently circulated to media houses for publication.

But, the Director, Media and Publicity of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, Malam Garba Shehu has told Leadership yesterday on telephone that the organisation have incontrovertable evidence to support the opinion poll.

The result of the opinion polls, which the campaign organization said was conducted by the International Institute of Social Science Research (IISSR) based in the United Kingdom- published recently in some newspapers, put Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ahead of other presidential aspirants in the 2011 general elections.

In a press statement issued in Abuja yesterday by a political monitoring group, the United Nigeria Forum and signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Seidu Umar Yelwa, the group said the opinion polls was forged to deceive the electorate and manipulate the political space.

According to the group, "Nigerians woke up on Monday the 8th of November 2010 to read a story that had been cleverly planted in all the papers to the effect that a reputable London based research body, the International Institute of Social Science Research (IISSR) had conducted a survey giving Atiku an edge over other presidential aspirants of the PDP.

"While we are not bothered about the bid to project Atiku as a leading presidential aspirant, we are concerned about the need to travel the 2011 road with caution and sincerity, since statistics has been likened to a dummy, which can be employed for whatever purpose.

"The problem we have with the Atiku survey is that the subject matter cannot be accessed on the World Wide Web, the internet, which is the main research tool of this era. Does a goggle/yahoo/ search yourself. What we have seen that is close to the group claimed to have conducted the survey for Atiku is an organisation that concerns itself with market survey in the United States of America. There is also The Hague based Institute of Social Science Research, which is not the organisation Atiku claimed conducted the research."

The group blamed the media for publishing unverifiable statement sent to them by Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation with the aim to manipulate them in the ongoing electoral process.

"Now to what do we blame the inability of the media to conduct even this most elementary due diligence that would have exposed the real intention of the survey? We will leave that to your imagination, however, it is worthy of note that some of the papers refused to put a reporters name to the story. Perhaps that was to afford them the chance to deny in the future," the group said.

It added: "Now, the story of that 'survey' is coming alongside a rash of other pro-Atiku stories in the papers, this puts a lie to the claim of camaraderie amongst the northern presidential aspirants who are in the vanguard of promoting ethnic and sectional interests within the PDP. It is also clear that Atiku and others are not occupying a level playing field in the race they jointly put together.

"We noticed that the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation has been spending more money and been more visible in recent weeks than any of the consensus seekers.

Now, there is the need to search if the 17 northern wise men would eventually pick as their representative, a man who dreams up unverifiable research bodies to give the media imaginary research surveys. We believe that there should not be any form of desperation by any of the aspirants if service is the word", the political monitoring group added.
