It's such a pity that the entertainment industry does not value the efforts and creativity of movie editors. It's no hidden truth that film makers in Nigeria spend little on movie budget. Low budget movies are usually below standard in terms of acts, equipment, ideas and creativity. Especially movies been dished our from the Igbo section of Nollywood. Editors tend to suffer the outcomes of such. His creativity is put to test but peanut is given as compensation. When the film makers feel is price tag of an editor is too high, they settle for cheap and fast, and end up having so many bad and substandard movie. I think film makers should learn to value the editors creative ideas in terms of acknowledgment and compensation too

Well it depends on the editor involved, if he has enough experience, like me my profit waivers, sumtimes 120,000 in a month, sumtimes 170,000 in a month, and even 80,000 in a week, and sumtimes nothing for almost a full month...this sole depends on ur editing speed and client control ie if your work pleases ur client

One of the fore strategies of a successful editing career is to master your enviroment before laying down structures.. It is petinent to note that these structures what keeps your hardwork in place... You must have the knowledge that the industry is broad, your knowledge should not be restricted to video editing alone, you can learn effects creation, animation and graphics, cinematography etc....to be a master at your game learning the basics of these aforementioned will go a long way in creating that perfect enviroment.... Being an editor in the movie industry do have many mountaineous challanges, ranging underpricing, many cheap, lazy and inexperienced editors everywhere, producers trying to impose on editors.... The irony about this is that editing is the livewire of a movie, just as God created man and blew air into man.... Editing can be compared to the air man breathes because without air man is bound to meet his end, without editing a movie is useless... To save the long talk most editors who get signed or contracted to a movie enterprise do this to their detriment because at any point in time they can get sacked, suspended, delay in payment and are meant to play by the rules, be it dirty or clean... There is nothing like being your own boss, gaining much experience from handling different productions and meeting different talented editors who have a thing or two to teach you, thereby building a foundation for your own enterprise and it is also an opportunity to learn the art of customer or client control... This should not be taken without considering learning the basics first and offcourse b4 one must lead, one must serve...for young editors this doest give you the go ahead signal without learning the art of service first...;-
