Tarry: By all standard your application should have been approved, sometimes you don't understand the basis for these VOs decision.
It is very easy to visit Canada while you are in the US and the processing time is usually less than two weeks thought CIC website states 20 days, so as soon as you arrived the US visit either the visa office in Los Angels or New York and apply and state that you also wish to visit Canada before returning to Nigeria. Attach your return ticket to Nigeria and the return ticket reservation to Canada plus the hotel booking. You can use your Nigeria statement of account but also add your domiciliary account with enough money for the trip because that shows fund accessible since the Nigeria account is not longer accessible abroad.
All the best @humility01 I don't think there is much to add @Tarry has said it all, just make sure that there is ENOUGH money in your domiciliary account, it is very important for them to know that you have every intent to go back to your country and a strong financial statement will go a long way. I wish you luck, enjoy your vacation. |

Tarry: Apply again while you are in the US, and attach your return ticket to US. You stand a very good chance of getting the TRV while in the US and you are eligible to apply as a visitor to the US This is a better option and would advice the same. This RECESSION is just bad in every way, its the REAL reason they're refusing a lot of people visas, they know how hard things are right now, a lot of people just want a better life. I wish everyone applying luck, we all need it. |

unibadan: Yes i do. I am only a bit worried if Vetassess would give me a negative assessment based on my BSc degree.
Do u think i should add my OND Statistics to it for assessment?
Thank you. Yes definitely you must add it, as it shows them your complete educational history. I do not think you'll be given a negative assessment since there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a diploma first before proceeding to university. The most important thing is to meet all the requirements they have set. You have no problems, just make sure your transcripts are complete and do whatever is required. Also since it is your desire to be assessed as a Statistician, and you're assessed primarily on your first degree for the purpose of Skilled Migration, it will be to your advantage to submit your OND transcripts. You should ONLY add your advanced degree if it will aid your assessment as a Statistician, or if it meets any of their 'Statistician' requirements, if not you don't need it. I wish you luck! |

Thanks Ok good. Have you checked to see if you meet the points requirement for the skilled migration program for Oz? I'm assuming you want to go the visa subclass 189 route. |

Alumith: I intend to continue my career in Quality Health Safety and environment. Am thinking of applying for the skilled miggrant scheme. Which from inquiry will have be do an assessment of my career prospect (education, professional, esp etc.) through VATASSESS in line with the requirements for the skilled jobs. Now my question is, do i stand a chance of getting positive assessment from the assessment? You need to find out first if you meet the requirements for the skilled migration program, that is the first step, which is why I directed you to read page '0' of this thread. When you've done that and calculated your points, you can come back and ask your questions. Just read it first. |

unibadan: Hello People,
Please, i have few questions to ask around Vetassess Assessment as i want to apply to be assessed for STATISTICIAN
I graduated in 2006 as BSc Statistics from University of Ibadan. My entry into the UI is through direct entry, meaning i joined at 200 level. Looking at this, it simply 3 years in UI. My question is, how will Vetassess assess me based on this. Will it be a 4 year degree or 3 year? or a negative assessment
I did my Masters in Finance in London, 2010. Will it be necessary to claim point on this since BSc/Msc is same point and also MSc Finance is not related to a statistician job role. Though, my statistician role was in Asset Management/finance company from 2006 till date (including NYSC)
If i want to claim point for BSc Statistics, do i need to put it there that i have MSc finance?
In assessing my experience, will the counting begin from BSc or it will begin from MSc (if i had to tell them that i have MSc)
How many periods of Pay Slip do i need to submit to Vetassess
Is there any other document aside payslip to show evidence of employment?
Do i need to notorize all my documents before sending to Vetassess
I would appreciate if anyone can help with Employment Reference letter so i can use it as a guide in preparing my own.
Thank you. What was your previous education in, before starting in UI? |

Alumith: Hello Sirs,
I am Timothy, 29years of age. I have 4 years work experience in the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) field. I have Bsc in Biochemistry and PGD in environmental management. I have professional training certificates like Nebosh, IOSH, Lead auditors QMS 9001, EMS 14001 & OHSAS 18001,OSHAcademy, firrst aid training and many others.
Do I stand a chance of getting a positive assessment?
Please I need help! The first question you need to ask is 'positive assessment in what Field'? Identify what field/profession you fit in first before anything, I'm sure, by the time you do that you'll know what step to take next. Try and read this thread from page '0', then you can come back and ask your questions. |

James2016: Hi,I need some little explanation from you.I intend to apply for the 189 PR visa and I check the Sol list and I couldn't find my occupation.I just finish my MBA general management some few months ago and no working experience.i will like to know if it's possible to apply for any other PR with MBA and no working experience You need to look at the list very well, the degree you have cannot do anything for you with regard to Oz PR. If you really wanna go subclass 189 route then you may need to go back to school and study one of the occupations listed or you can check the CSOL and see if you meet the requirements of any of the occupations that is closely related to what you have presently. Just do a little research yourself, use google. I'll also use this opportunity to state quite clearly and reiterate, your bachelor's degree is not the only degree that you're assessed on, at least not in all professions, if your advanced degree meets the requirements set by the assessing body, then by all means you can apply. People, just make sure you do your research very well, if you're not sure about anything you can mail the body carrying out the assessment or come here on NL and post your questions, anyone with experience will help you with answers to the best of their knowledge. This not to discourage you but to point you in the right direction. Hope you find it useful. Wait! what is your first degree in? |

Pinoralia: I just looked thru Engr Aust. MSA booklet. See this cropped screenshot.
I think it's your First Degree that they reckon with. Your first degree academic transcript will be submitted too.
Dunno if Engr Aust can assess you as an engineer if you have significant years of experience practicing Chemical Engineering. What you based your career episode on has to be pure engineering (not applied science).
Your assessment outcome will carry the following: -Course of study. -Year of Completion. -Institution Name. -Australian Qualification Framework Level.
Surest Bet: Send an e-mail Engineer Australia. if you have practiced chemical Engineering, state how long you 've done that. I pray they are impressed. All the best my brother. Just for the sake of clarification and also in the event some other person is in this same situation, Engineers Australia has a list of accredited Engineering programs provided by Australian institutions in different locations. A master in Chemical Engineering offered by the following universities-: is fully accredited and is offered at the level of Professional Engineer University of Melbourne, The University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, University of Sydney What this means is that with a master degree in Chemical Engineering from any of the universities I have listed above, you're qualified to practice engineering in Australia and anywhere in the world and meet the SOL requirement for this particular course of study/profession. Other Universities that have accredited engineering programs which are offered at the level of Professional Engineer but are provisionally accredited are University of Adelaide Edith Cowan University Flinders University Charles Darwin University What this means is that even though the courses have been accredited at the professional level. some additional requirements may be needed to meet up with SOL requirement. The information stated above is bound to be reviewed from time to time. For Further Information on anything regarding accreditation, assessment or just basic information about Engineering in Australia you can check https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/sites/default/files/shado/Education/Program%20Accreditation/engineers_australia_accredited_qualifications.pdf OR https://www.engineersaustralia.org.auAlso, just a word of advice, before giving out information on here please lets make sure we're a 100% sure of the info we are giving out. You just never know it may be the turning point either for good or bad in this journey/quest for a better life/future for some who come here seeking information. Let's keep up the good work and keep helping each other. Cheers! |

The thing now is I'm confused and don't know what to do, I have checked the SOL list and there is nothing for someone with a degree in Chemistry. I found 'Chemist' on the CSOL but I don't meet visa Subclass 190 & 489 requirements.

Well I guess I should shed more light on my situation,
I am a graduate with a Bsc in Chemistry, completed my NYSC, currently job hunting and doing some freelance work. Like I said earlier I've been following this thread quietly, learning from you guys.
I have thought of going to do an MSc in Chemical Engineering, which is the reason why I asked the question about assessment earlier. The truth is I'm confused and not sure if I stand a chance with the Skilled migration program primarily because my 'course of study' isn't among the options in the SOL
I'll appreciate if the experts in the house can weigh in on this and advice me on the best possible way to go about this, do I go ahead with the Skilled migration program (what are my chances?) OR do I go the study route (what will be the outcome with my proposed strategy of studying Chemical Engineering).
Over to you people! |
