I've met gr8 9ja hackers like Amadas,Dallas Ifakobale,Franco Boy,Estycool and co. bt am yet to meet any who has Linux on their PC talk more of Backtrack.
To be a very good hacker,you must be able to buy softwares which'll cost you almost your life savings or go through the hell of having a verified paypal account cos thats the payment option of most software companies.

Javanian: And this was why i suggested you go through port 22 most Firewalls are very lenient with connections that pass through port 22. They see it as a secure connection. A good anrivirus will screen every thing that goes through port 80, Not as if it works all the time but your chances are higher...

Javanian: let it pass through port 22...works in most cases, most firewalls and Anti Virus will let it pass...

my hacking instinct is currently pushing me towards ps3. I want to make a hack that will force game saves to exist on external media so that I can use cloud storage and synchronize saved game data across devices. I have setup the dev enviroment necessary for such a hack but...

if you want more ethical hackers here, just start a hack project and provide updates here. surely, they will come

I know how to use Microsoft word. I use it every day. One day, I may decide to write a word processor like MS Word. When I do, would you say I modiffied MS Word to get mine? I don't think so. More than likely, I loved MS Word so much and was inspired to write the exact same thing to further add my own twist.

He wrote Linux's kernel from scratch (without seeing the UNIX source code) to function like UNIX.

Secondly, Bill Gates didn't do much to CP/M-80 (which, by the way, was also a clone of CP/M owned by another company) to get his MS-DOS.

I'm not trying to take away from the accomplishments of Bill Gates. The reason why he's successful is not because he was a techie, but because he was business smart. The tech industry is litered with corpses of geniuses that died broke simply because they didn't have what it took to make money out of their inventions.

We could say Bill Gates got a lucky break. I don't know how the historry of microsoft would have turned out had this deal with IBM not landed on his lap.

I mean, to sum it up, Microsoft got paid royalty for every single machine IBM sold... and they sold a boatload. Bill gates turned a $50,000 investment into $MILLIONS!

ghostofsparta: I have been honing this idea which has been lingering in my mind for years now. It borders within a concept of a type of OS entirely different from the conventional ones. I'm now self-convinced that it may even give Microsoft's Windows a run for it dominance. Infact it's so beyond both conventional 'styled' and the super-futuristic ones in movies like Iron Man and rebooted Total Recall. It's far from what everyone is used to,from the likes of Wintel to the Linux based ones. But the issue I am having is I can't discuss my 'novel trove' with even my programming pals without divulging the main core concept in the hopes of getting some hints/advice on how to go about it. So since I'm left with the option of having to venture into programming myself, I have done my assignment here and there where I figured the basic differences between C, C++ and C# and why C is the most needed to learn for OSdev. I also learned that one shouldn't go into programming having OSdev in mind rather one should learn the languages "In and Out" first of all before thinking of coding 'garri' oriented apps much less of an operating system. I'll have to regard myself a n000b, hence using this thread to solicit ideas, guides and encouraging opinions on how to go about developing an operating system from scratch to perfection. I created this page as a forward to another page where game developers and programmers were being compared, I am aware it's not an easy task to do, some responders may say something like "dude, you need to ask yourself what purpose does your OS cater for" while some folks may say "stick to libraries". All I am asking as a n00b is what are the conditions prior to plunging into developing a totally bootable OS, hardware and software wise.

You are 90% sure if your sponsor can convince me of adequate funds to cater for ur stay in Canada (and ofcourse other dependents) and a reliable source on income as well....

Are you married? If no,do u have a common partner(i.e someone you have been living with for some years and you have agreed to get married)

what is your employment status? employed or self-employed? If yes,then get a letter from your employer to back ur study leave and also assure u of employment on ur return. This will be applicable if ur proposed course is related to d field u r employed for. If not, find advert placements on journals,magazine etc needing the qualified bodies in your area of proposed course. ( @least to prove that your qualification from ur proposed course is useful back home)
If you have a kind of business you are doing,you may include dox relating the business to you and the future of it.

In your case,you may need statement of purpose to make this work. Also, I think getting copies of some travel dox from ur brova won't be harmful,but goes a long way. #mythoughtthough# cos, I've seen similar cases here using passports(copies) of their sponsor's outta 9ja as back-up and it works.
