I agree with most of these, but we're all over the world because of business and education these days. Same with Igbo. It has been long enough that the slave trade, land bridge natives etc doesnt matter anymore.
Plus, regardless of origin, African diasporas through natives, slavery, whatever tend to lose their connection to tribe/ethnicity.
I have a friend in uni who recently discovered he is a quarter Mandinka due to the slave trade in Mexico and is reluctant to embrace the culture of the ethnicity or even of Guinea and the Senegambia overall. I dont know if the diaspora who dont consider themselves yoruba count.

The ijaws are the water version of Fulanis. They are not even indigenous to the Niger delta region as their language is not unified nor related to languages in the area. This is an established fact by linguistic studies.

They came to so many places that they occupy today as settlers who came to fish.

Just like the ancestral home of the Fulanis is futa jalon, the ancestral home of the proto-ijaws is in coastal Ghana regions.

Their minority status and low population is the reason why they have aggressive expansionists agenda and claim those who cannot understand them or related to them.

The only reason they made progress of this abuse is that they took advantage of the post civil war situation in Nigeria were the Fulanis rewarded them with maps that falsely expanded their territories.

So many groups that ijaws say are not Igbo or ibbibio or Annang. But when those groups speak their native language, no ijaw man or woman can understand what they are saying.

Even some ijaws cannot understand each other groups language without pigeon English.

People just want to tribalistically fight on Nairaland. The real reason non northerner people are afraid is because of two reasons.
1. Drastic change is inherently scary. People are afraid that the new reality could be even worse and devolve into infighting like South Sudan, people are afraid of the war that could happen, minorities in igboland are afraid of being displaced, etc. It is frightening but I believe if secession happens the south's shared faith in Christ will help us navigate that new world together, peacefully.
2. The videos that go viral of UGM, ESN, etc can be incredibly distressing.
Hell, even some northerners are worried about secession who are not complicit in oppression or oil production are just fearful of war on top of the banditry and BH they deal with. Please be more understanding when talking about topics as serious this.

P.S. using the US, China etc as examples of successful independence movements is true but misleading, those happened in a much different time.
