LeonessAug: I really don't know where to start...

I'm presently in my friend's postpartum room who just delivered and I must say I'm impressed with their services from head to toe. What more do we want? Alot we got for the $2888 package which can never be seen anywhere else.

From your financial signing to doctor's appointment to several lab tests, ultrasound, access to an online account to view your medical results even before your next appointment, follow - up via mail and calls to timely meet up with the next appointment..... and many more.

May Godbless the person that introduced MIHS via NL.
My ppl, lets be grateful pls...

Also, this is my best moment in the US because I'm not staying with friends nor family. Nigerians in Phoenix are great and are always ready to assist. My daughter is also having a great time. May God also bless members of Solid Rock Redeemed Church in Glendale Arizona... Marvellous people!
Gd Morn;
Pls i have a little problem scheduling appointment with MIHS for my sister. Pls can u or anyone in Phoenix help us out? i already sent u an email through nairaland. I would really appreciate if u can helpout. thanks.

happytbaby: MIHS has a maternity package that is 2,888 and 4,200 for womanly birth and CS respectively. You guys could google Maricopa Integrated Health System for information. A detail of what is included is on the website. It's not amusing to be repeating all the lost info so it would be nice if people do a bit fieldwork too. Google is our friend.

As for cheap accommodation, Crossland on West McDowell road can be booked for about 650dollars per day if you bok a stay of at least 60 nights. The booking is done via phone on +18003987829. It is managed by extended stay so you can book extendedstayamerica too via the number. Please have your MasterCard or Visa card ready when you call. You can also check what the place looks like online.

To book appointment with MIHS, you need to call the Women's clinic on +16023445407, speak pleasantly and get them to send you an email confirmation.

I would appreciate if the people that need this info just take it and use it and not come up with unnecessary comparisons of hospital "quality" or hotel "finesse".
Good Morning;

My sister called MIHS yesterday trying to book an appointment, and she was told she can't schedule an appointment until she is in town. although she isn't due until early next year, she just wants to start her visa processing.
pls can anyone advice on how to go about scheduling an appointment?
Thanks.

twizzie: Hello house.
For those interested in the Philly region, I just called, DCMH.Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Was referred by someone that had her baby last year and she paid about 3500-4000(hospital bill and doc).
Apparently, the price has gone up over 100%. Was told it's currently 7500. 6000 for hospital bill and 1500 for doctor's bill. Was directed to the financial services department when I asked if I was going to get further discount for paying cash upfront. Called but was told it's a flat rate. The amount doesn't cover ultrasound and blood test and you have to bring in your medical file to avoid paying more.
Hope this helps someone.. Will try call another hospital in that region.
Please mums using or have used MIHS, Abeg show ooo and tell us your experience. Seems that's going to be an option I might have to consider.
I just got off the phone with them too. Cos my sister wishes to go there cos we have relatives there. I think they are just starting the package.
MIHS is the best option.

Gd morn all,
My wife was denied at the embassy this morning without any reason. None of our documents were checked, just the normal template of refusal was given to her.....
Maybe the baby wants to be born in Nigeria......
Anyway, will give it one final shot, and if God says yes, then so be it.....
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by jyde2014: 7:53am On Jan 07, 2014
Alemo50: I think if a child does not want to be born in US we should respect its wishes. I have been to US and observed things carefully and have come to the conclusion that I will rather be in Nigeria than there. After all, to be rich in America is to have a beautiful house that you cannot afford to stay in because you have to be constantly out working in order to afford the house. Therefore my advice is that you APPEAL rather than go to Abuja, but while making every effort to get a USA visa you should just bear in mind that not getting the Visa may be best for your child if the visa is not granted eventually. Not to be proud, but anytime I visit USA my colleagues there envy me- I work half as much as they do, have a decent house, can visit America in summer, not much of anxiety etc.
Good morning all;
It's clearly stated on the refusal paper given to people that the decision cannot be appealed. However one can get an immigration lawyer to write to them giving detailed explanation and proofing to them that you have strong socio-economic ties to Nigeria.

Just to inform the whole huse dat were not granted the Visa and I felt really bad about it but I just remembered that if its the will of God they would have granted Us even after paying the deposit for elpaso I felt really bad because even the lady that interviewed Us was not ready to check the invoice from elpaso she said they have warned that we should not pay before interview in al I just feel its not ment to be.
They don't really app8 truth if I had said I was goin for vacation an the Visa was granted it wll be better in all i wish you all th very best my wife is due in March and.stress will be too much on her if we apply and refused again.
It seems these people are something else. Is it now a crime to pre pay medical expenses just to prove one's solvency? you do this;they find fault. you do another thing the find loop hole in it. Wetin dem want sefhuh

Google MIHS phoenix, i guess their charges fall within your budget. However she might need a little above that to cover feeding, accommodation etc.

Hi,what website did u book your flight from? I dey find cheap ticket tooooo
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by jyde2014: 5:50pm On Jan 06, 2014
Cute babies: @favoured girl, it's Delta airlines.
Cost breakdown: Ob/gyn - 2220
Hospital fee - 2150
Pediatrician - 380
Lab work - 400

Optional: Anesthesiologist - 850
Circumcision - 500

I know I can travel with more than 10k but I won't want to go through the stress of declaring that and that was why why I opted for the card/bank statement.

@ozycy, a friend that introduced me to Oakbend is the one using Intown suites while I'm staying with family. I'll need to confirm from her the particular one she's using. I wouldn't worry about anything less than 30 minutes to the hospital afterall in Naija you'll spend same time or longer to get to your hospital. What I feel is more important is a standby means of transportation which could be a cab driver's number or a rented car.

@jyde2014, I don't understand what you mean by 'outside Houston' cos Oakbend medical centre is in Southwestern Houston and about 30mins from WHMC. Probably u're referring to one of their centres in the outskirts but the only one that carries out delivery is 22003 Southwest Freeway, Richmond, Texas. Both WHMC and Oakbend are in the Richmond area of Texas.
It's the same oakbend I'm referring to. It actually depends on where u will be staying. We were actually considering Dr Fagbohun before, but when we considered transportation from where she would be staying, a cab company quoted $60 one way. Oakbend is in Richmond which is a suburb of Houston, while WHMC is on Richmond avenue Houston. Thirty minutes on a free way no be small journey oooooo. Just saying.

ozycy: @jyde2014, am already praying for her, she will be issued the visa in Jesus name amen. When is she having her interview and where? I will be leaving in 2 weeks time. Best of luck
Her interview is within the week. If granted, she should leave end of the month. She's likely to go thru uk,spend few days and then proceed to Houston. Her first appointment with Dr Rizk should be 6th Feb.

My wife should be using WHMC, I pray she's issued VIsa. We have made a deposit of $2,000 to Dr Rizk and also $2,000 to WHMC...
Pls pray for us ooooooooo

Cute babies: Hi all. Welldone to everyone that has contributed to this thread. You've all really been helpful. I am using Oakbend Medical Centre and my fees come up to about $5400, I will be staying @ Intown suites, Houston for $200 weekly. My flight ticket cost #197,000 as at last week though it has suddenly gone up to #209,000 this week (lesson: purchase your tickets now). I personally think this is a good deal for those looking at Houston axis. Anyone interested could holla me.

However I have an issue to clarify, the doctor or hospital would not accept my payment in advance as it is not their policy. They can only accept my payment when I show up in person. Has anyone had a similar experience and what was it like at the POE? All I have is correspondence from the doctor and hospital with no receipts.
Since I can't carry more than $9990, I want to present my cards and maybe my bank statement to show that I have enough money to take care of myself, would they accept such?
Hi,
Oak bend medical centre is outside Houston, have u thought about transportation to and from town. Why not try west Houston medical centre, Dr Rizk's fee is abt $2200,although u might run some tests, but his bill can't be more than $3,000. And hospital bill is $2,500. And u have the option of pre-paying your bills. Just an opinion though.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by jyde2014: 6:24pm On Jan 04, 2014
uchetobi: @solid homes, buy groceries and cereals so you can be a bit independent of the cooking at your hosts house. Pls dont starve the baby. If you have friends in the US, you can go visit them and come back because hosting a visitor for so long may be tiring on your host, especially since you people are not family and also their financial standing may not b so great. If you cant then support them by doing general cooking twice a week or pitching in with general groceries or so.

@ peacenigeria, pls tell us the whole story, i think you left some bits out as it stands, it doesnt really add up

@ome240, attend the interview with a copy of your marriage cert and official change of name notification. Also dont worry about being unable to upload your passport digitally. That option does not work. Just get the physical passport in the right specification and hold it with you for the interview

@babysykes, you can try but i dont think they will collect those documents from you. Try and declare all those info when you are filling your form

@tomdiski...try and find a hotel in elpaso that you can book for three months...someone on this forum got rejected cuz he booked only one month. You can cancel and book insuites or any accomodation of your choice after your interview.
Try to also have a budget sheet that shows how much the birth will cost, the accomodation, the flight, etc and the sum total cost to you so you are fully prepared and you look organized. your acc statement should show you have this sum in excess. Good luck

@jyde2014..with regards to the test you can do in Nigeria, check the doctorsperati website, i think it has a list of necessary test. You can use that as a guide. Alternatively, you can call up your chosen dr's office and make the enquiry

@ all happy new year and safe delivery to all those due in january
Thanks a bunch.

ome240: Hi everyone....
Guess we are doing okayhuh
Please am I to upload a passport to my DS-160 application form? OR is it accepted during the interviewhuh Just trying to be double sure so as not to make a mistake...

Secondly, how soon can one be interviewed after completing the form? I'm just completing the forms now and would an want an interview in February 2014.
Someone please carry me along.
If u didn't upload the passport before u started filling the form, it's gonna be difficult. Just take the passport along with you to the interview.
After submitting the online application form, go to nearest gtb bank, pay 26400 for b1/b2 visa application fee. Go back to ustraveldocuments.com,apply for visa and follow the process to schedule your appointment. You can get a date that is not more than three weeks depending on the volume of application.
Good luck.

hardeymijuh: @ Ozycy,
Merry Xmas. There r quite a number of nigerians using West Houston Medical Centre. My wife is currently there and I was there in November.

she is using Dr La, we paid $2775 all together ( Doc fees and all tests). I will advise you to do most of the tests here in Nigeria, at least i knw Dr La accepts them.

there is an extended stay america apartment close to WHMC (i think abt 5-7mins), my wife stays abt 7miles from the hospital and she pays abt 15-20 dollars per trip when she goes for her appointment. You can search the internet for apartment close to WHMC...

i hope to travel back to Houston next week....!!! smiley smiley smiley
Gd morn all, compliments of the season.
Gd morn,
@hardeymijuh sent you a mail, pls kindly respond. Also can you help with a comprehensive list of tests required. So one can know the ones to be carried out in Nig and the one to be done over there.
Thanks.

We'll be staying at her cousin's, which is about five minutes from WHMC.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by jyde2014: 8:57pm On Dec 24, 2013
Rebarobyn: Same applies, you can give her your employment letter or pay advice showing your total pay package to support your statement and if you need to train her on how to respond to these questions it might help too. Since she's had an experience she knows what to expect. But since she works what about her own employment letter and pay advice? I know these embassies r always at the edge when it's some other person sponsoring, it would sound better to say it's being financed by both of you. Just a thought though.
She's a public servant oooooo, the pay isn't fantastic... But not a bad idea to have her employment letter with her as well. That's why i love this forum, nice ideas flowing right left and center. God bless you all. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

ozycy: i will also be using Dr Rizk by January, doctors fee $2200, additional charges for labs and ultrasounds could run up to $1100, WHMC $2500, anesthesiologist $1200, pediatrician and pathologist fee not included cos der fees depends
That's cool, I pray we get this visa issue sorted out as soon as possible. Hope to meet you there.

Rebarobyn: I think the VO was just having a bad day cos he obviously just made up his mind about you and started attacking you.

I'm also waiting for my interview early Jan so it's not like i have some experience but from what i can deduce, if you can both get letters of introduction from your employers showing how much you aactually earn; that may establish your financial capacity better than a bank statement . Also iif you can get your story right in terms of why you want to have your baby in the US. From what i gather that high mortality rate thing is now cliche. Be honest about it- you've always wanted to have your baby elsewhere, different experience, opportunity to access best healthcare in the world etc.

Hope this helps.
Thanks;
The problem here is this: I already got my visa months back. My wife is the only one appearing, and she has to go with my documents. And it's obvious she cannot defend my documents as i would do... Still thinking about re-applying.
