Ex-Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has confirmed that he is in talks with Brazilian club Botafogo about a possible move to the Rio de Janeiro club.

A decision is expected to be reached between the club and player after an end to the coronavirus pandemic. Botafogo picked interest in the former Chelsea midfielder last month after aborting a pursuit of former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

It is claimed that the club has made an offer of 18 months to the player worth $2m.

The former Chelsea midfielder has confirmed that he is speaking with the Brazilian club with a view to joining them in the summer.

“Yes, there has been an interest and yes there have been negotiations,” the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner told ESPN.

“But I don’t know yet. I am still thinking about it, not sure yet.”

Mikel last featured for Turkish side Trabzonspor after his contract was mutually terminated after voicing his disagreement with Turkish football authorities over playing football amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Botafogo has already made one marquee signing this year, with Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda joining on a free transfer in January.

Brazil’s major football competitions have been suspended since mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

If CNN is quoting the experts in the medical field and saying that up to 2.2 million people will die in America alone if the right measures are not taken to tackle COVID-19, can anyone hazard a guess about how many millions we will lose in Nigeria and Africa if care is not taken and we do not do the right thing? The whole thing is not only horrendous but also apocalyptic.

What is really going on with COVID-19 is far too big, too complex, too sinister, too evil, too bizarre and too extraordinary for the average mind to comprehend or accept.

You need to be very astute, very well-read, very focused and literally a genius to get it clearly or you need to be led by the Spirit of God to open your mind and eyes.

Without either you will struggle with accepting the truth and even if you do accept it, you may not be able to handle it and you may end up living in total fear for the rest of your life.

If you tell the average person what is really going on, they will declare you insane. Perhaps it is better to just tell them to follow the World Health Organisation and government guidelines, stay indoors, keep clean, hope for the best and PRAY!

My initial inclination before making this contribution was to do precisely that, take my own counsel and leave it at that but after a time of deep intercession and prayer through last night, I decided to share a tiny portion of what I know and hope that, at least, a few people will comprehend and accept it.

What we are witnessing in the world today is, to say the least, frightful and shocking. Yet it should not come as a surprise to the spiritually sensitive and discerning or to those that are schooled in eschatology or that are familiar with the many ‘end-time’ prophecies in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelations of the Holy Bible.

‘Totalitarian tip-toe’

What we are seeing before our very eyes is the perfect implementation of what is known in enlightened, learned, philosophical and intellectual circles as the ‘Hegelian dialectic’.

The great British author, researcher and conspiracy theorist, David Icke, whose works I have been reading for many years and who saw all this coming decades ago, describes it as the ‘totalitarian tip-toe’.

In a nutshell, it is the cultic practice of the ancient, evil and malevolent deceit and guile known as ‘problem, reaction, solution’ and ‘order after chaos’ and its ultimate objective is to establish the classic and dreaded Orwellian state.

I would urge the uninitiated or uninformed to google these terms and learn more about them because space constraints will not enable me to do so here.

Simply put, the ‘hidden hand’ of the dark world, the Illuminati and the agents of Satan are at work. The whole thing was planned and contrived over the centuries and they are firmly on course.

Many indigenous cultures in Africa often have rites before the groom is allowed to marry their daughters. These traditions may vary from culture to culture, sacrifice, hunting, tests of bravery, strength, and fortification.

One of such indigenous people would be the Fulani of West Africa. These people practice the Sharo Festival diligently. The word Sharo means flogging. It is a public ceremony celebrated to test the bravery and resilience of the groom and make him prove that he is worthy of the bride. The festival is held twice a year. Why flog a man all in the name of marrying a lady? What kind of tradition is this?

The first of the festival is usually held during the dry season when guinea corn is being harvested, and the second during the Muslim festival of Id-el-Kabir.

The Sharo Festival is held for a week in an open place such as a market square. The festival starts up with various forms of performances by tricksters, minstrels, and maiden dancers. The main part of the festival begins with the arrival of bare-chested, unmarried men who are escorted to the center ring by beautiful young girls.

Hopes are raised by the melodious drumbeats and thunderous cheers of the spectators while contenders eye their challengers. The families of the contenders watch and pray not to be disgraced by their sons because a son who cannot endure the flogging brings disgrace to the family.

Many contenders often recite mantras during the flogging rite or undergo a traditional fortification process in preparation for the day. This is because withstanding high amounts of pain is quite difficult.

These severe floggings often leave scars on the proud contenders who believe the scars are marks of courage and a successful transition to manhood. After the flogging, the brave boys become men and are giving permission to marry the girl of their choice.

Fulanis believe in flogging a prospective groom publicly before the wedding. All suitors are expected to go through this rigorous flogging and anyone who cries or chickens out loses the bride. The woman sees it as a thing of pride if her man gets flogged for her.

The residents of Justicia B Village near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga were on Saturday left shocked after they witnessed two snakes poking.
According to residents, the female was facing down while the male was on top.It took the rescue team almost two hours to separate the two snakes that were so tied to each other.

Some suspected the poking scene was related to witchcraft as they have never seen such in their village.
But when the rescue team from Bushbuckridge Fire and Rescue arrived, they assured them this was a season for snakes to poke and that they shouldn’t be surprised when they witness such scenes.

One of the residents Solon Ndlovu (40) told reporters that everyone in the village was shocked because they haven’t seen such in their village.
“At first we suspected witchcraft after we caught the snakes in the early hours of the morning poking. We just stood there and watched until the two snakes moved towards the tree to hide and continued to be tied to each other,” said Ndlovu.

“Both snakes were 2 meters long and we took them to the Kruger National Park. We appeal to residents to always contact us when they spot snakes and avoid risking their lives by attempting to kill them as they might get hurt,” Mdluli said.

The coronavirus pandemic has brought a halt to world football and the planned summer tournament is set to be moved to make room for seasons to finish.

Euro 2020 has been pushed back by 12 months to become Euro 2021 as part of UEFA’s proposals to combat the scheduling issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Domestic and European fixture lists will also see sweeping changes made in an effort to get 2019-20 campaigns completed.

Football competitions around the world have been brought to a halt by the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.
Authorities have, in collaboration with health officials, been left with no choice but to implement immediate suspensions across the board following discussions with European football leaders.

The Norwegian FA was the first to confirm plans that UEFA's signature international tournament will become Euro 2021 and kick off on June 11, 2021.

Efforts are now being made to ensure that the current season does not become null and void.

UEFA said in a statement on Tuesday: "The health of all those involved in the game is the priority, as well as to avoid placing any unnecessary pressure on national public services involved in staging matches.

"The move will help all domestic competitions, currently on hold due to the Covid-19 emergency, to be completed.

"All UEFA competitions and matches (including friendlies) for clubs and national teams for both men and women have been put on hold until further notice.

"A working group has been set up with the participation of leagues and club representatives to examine calendar solutions that would allow for the completion of the current season and any other consequence of the decisions made today."

A European Championship due to be staged in various cities across the continent was set to get underway on June 12, 2020.

That is no longer feasible, meaning that the event will be postponed until 2021.

At domestic level, the intention is to play the regular season through to a finish, with campaigns closing before June 30.

The Champions League final is expected to be pushed back to the end of June 2020, with Europe’s premier club competition yet to complete the round of 16.

European Championship play-offs that were cancelled in the March international break will now take place at the start of June "subject to a review of the situation", according to UEFA.

The 2021 Nations League Finals, which was supposed to be staged in June 2021, is being pencilled in for the following September.

There are a number of other matters still to be addressed, with European nations intended to be taking in 2022 World Cup qualifiers next summer.

FIFA’s inaugural 24-team Club World Cup is also supposed to see the curtain come up in 2021. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has indicated that his FIFA counterpart, Gianni Infantino, is keen to cooperate with the European football governing body. Copa America 2020 will also be moved to 2021.

UEFA is, however, doing all it can to resolve as many problems as possible during a testing time for sport as a whole.

Once any initial proposals have been given the green light, then attention can turn towards addressing the outstanding issues.
