Shinelle: Success Mail....
I have a testimony. I shed tears today after my #5k got 'hanged' with a motor company simply because a company I had scheduled to have an interview called after I just paid for my ticket that my 'final interview' had been shifted by 2weeks instead of on Wednesday that it should have been. (I've had this experience before)
By the way this would have been my 4th visit to Lagos from Abj (for this firm alone) since February 2015 that I applied, I'm sure it wouldn't be the Last. I said "God pls change my story"... this 'mkpari di too much'
Now I'm shedding tears of Joy! I've been to PwC (A better Offer) twice, and now I'm "Hired "! Thank You Jesus... I'm no longer a Serial Job seeker.
To everyone who made this journey memorable, I say thanks for making this thread what it is. To those who didn't make this one, there is always a Better place ahead, wipe tears cos they make sight blurry. Look ahead, God is still in the Business of answering Prayers. Congratulations... |

Kookny: My spell in the unemployment sector has come to an end guys.
It was all good. I thank God for all the experiences I had, the people I met, those that helped me, encouraged me in one way or the other, those that made out time to post job vacancies they came across, even those that saw it as an opportunity to scam me, not forgetting the companies that rejected me .
I remain grateful! For the lessons I learnt, for the loves found, for the friends made, for the humility learnt, for the empathy acquired. Y'all are all special! Mucho Gratia
Thank you. Congratulations bro... I am happy for you... |

Anwa23: Hello all! Are there any nairalanders sitting for the Level 1 CIS Professional exams- September 2016? . Let's discuss study and revision plans. I have a question regarding the exam structure. The syllabus on the website says Section A is multiple choice Section B short answer questions and Section C essay type questions. However past questions on the website show the exam format as 100% multiple choice questions. Has the syllabus been revised? davide470: Hi Anwa23,
All Level 1 exams are multiple choice questions. I need study materials. please send it to me if you have. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Cvs & Resume :is It OK Include Playing Video Games (PES & FIFA) As Your Hobby ? by kaka22(m): 6:35am On May 27, 2016 |
dozzykoncept: Please I need your SUGGESTIONS : . I can tap game, I concur. Playing video games(FIFA) is my hobby especially after a stressful day. Should I include it in my CV? . Funny as it sounds, I'm applying in one of the Top Oil Companies in South-South. . ...Just a hobby. Should I?
Lalasticlala While I was searching for job, I put "watching educative seasonal films like desperate housewives, apprentice and listening to good music from olamide, oritse femi" on my cv. I was asked in an interview what I learnt in desperate housewives. I structured my answer in a way that highlighted the importance of family while working i.e work-life balance. After my answer, all the ladies on the panel were impressed. In fact, it made my interview to be fun in a kind of way. At the end of the process, I got the job. Note: I later edited the examples out like desperate housewives, olamide. Yes, you can put it on your CV but have a well thought out explanation in case they ask you what you benefit from the game apart from fun but you may not include it to play it safe unless you are like me |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 15 Ways To Get A Job In 2 Weeks by kaka22(m): 11:39am On May 06, 2016 |
Op is right to a large extent. The interviewers must see the fire and enthusiasm in you. You must let them know you are the best candidate for the job in words and body language. I also agree with your point about targeting the top guy. I was in an interview room recently and I was asked the normal interview questions. Then, we got to the question 'why should we hire you?'. I aimed at the ceo of the company in my response. I hyped him to the extent that he was smiling (impressed). I knew at that point that I have gotten the job. In fact, when I was asked if I had any question for them, I constructed the question in a way that showed my drive for success and how I could be like the ceo. I disagree a bit with your submission about online application. Most top rated companies advertise vacancies online and many people including myself, have gotten jobs through that means. |

Career › Re: Sharing Your Salary Information With Friends And Family, Good Or Bad? by kaka22(m): 11:07am On May 05, 2016 |
Well, it depends on the family and friends. I shared my salary information with a friend and that was because she shared her own first. Moreover, her salary almost doubles my own. I don't think I can do that with a friend who earn lesser than me. I shared my salary information with my elder brother because he contributed to my academics. Note: it is easy to share salary information with friends if all of you earn roughly equal salary so it won't lead to jealousy or inferiority complex. When I start earning my millions monthly, nobody will know |

I agree with number 1 point. I used verdana (font) while writing my cv and it made my cv look different (better) unlike the one with times new roman. Unsolicited advice to jobseekers: whenever you are asked about your experience or hobbies during interview. Make sure to tell them what you learnt in the process. For instance, if you are asked about your passion for football. Don't just tell them about how many competitions you have played. Tell them that football has taught you how to be a team player. You can even tell them how you helped a team member in improving himself (that's if there is any). |

I have been scheduled for further interview with UBA on Monday. What does the further interview means? Is it an interview with ED? Or another panel interview?
Note: I've done the first interview and I was invited for interview with ED but I was unable to attend. Hence, this new invite for further interview.
