All his actions and decrees was anything but democratic. He is a tyrant and should just rest. Give us Fashola or Kwankwaso and GEJ will be returning home, but Buhari, I pray heaven.. My one and only sustained argument is that the external reserve was used to defend the naira. You asked, but other government defended the naira too, The answer is yes but not as much SLS led CBN. and here is the figure to prove
Within 4 year period, Soludo only defended Naira with $57bn while SLS withing the same 4 years, spent $117bn to defend the naira. if you just can't see the difference, i'm sorry but i can't help you out the guy is dull |

Abok1: Firstly, let us be clear on one thing. You can check my previous posts on this Fora, I am not a member of APC, nor do I profess to support any political party. But merely disappointed by the performance of the GEJ administration and a further 4 years of this is suicidal. Reason is, if GEJ could not salvage the situation when he is trying to impress and gain the support of the masses towards his 2nd term. Is it when he get the 2nd term and doesn't need the people that he would perform miracles? considering the fact that most administrations perform less impressively in their second terms.
Since we are clear on my political affiliation, we can focus on the deficiencies of the GEJ administration.
The recession was felt because the world as become a global village where, when someone sneezes in Texas, the effects are felt in China. But that aside, Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world which doesn't rely fully on the private sector. The Nigerian case of underperformance of the private sector vis-a-vis the banks was because of the recklessness of the key players without being checkmated by the then CBN management. This doesn't in any way mean that the real global recession affected our private sector. To arrive at a valid conclusion, we need to note that the global recession was mainly caused by
Which meant that the private sector of the Nigerian economy should normally be immune from the effect because or mortgage sectors are not directly linked to the international policies. Attempting to link the two unrelated events is an act of skoptsy, which doesn't help in validating your line of argument.
I will give you a few 'uses'
National conference with nothing to show for it. $20 Billion missing funds which could have increased the external reserve #1 Billion budgeted for food Budgeting N2.2 billion for a “befitting banqueting hall in Aso Rock Villa,” as was the case last year (2012) N34.5 million for the feeding of lions in the Aso Rock Zoo.
One particularly disgusting item in the 2014 budget is the provision of N1.6 billion as deposit for the purchase of a new aircraft for the presidential fleet that already boasts a record 10 planes and is ranked among the most luxurious worldwide. The profligate presidential fleet is complemented with an extravagant motorcade and glamorous lifestyle. Only two domestic airlines have that many aircraft. Nigerians need to know how much money goes into the maintenance of this large fleet of non-commercial aircraft. In 2011, N18 billion was reportedly budgeted to maintain the presidential aircraft.

Abok1: Pray tell, which global financial crises could be as massive compared to the one the world witnessed between 2007 - 2009 (during Yar'Aduas time) and Yar'Adua still managed to increase the foreign reserve to 62 billion in September 2008. Our nelipot GEJ still reduced the same by almost 50% in less than 3 years and the only defence is "protecting the Naira", which as a matter of fact has always been the practice since time immemorial.
Don't make it sound like the economy of Nigeria was in dire straights when it doesn't, neither do we have an emergency situation warranting the depletion of the foreign reserve by close to 50%. The previous administrations also defended the Naira and reduced the debt profile with notable increase in savings, while our dear GEJ budgeted N1 Billion on feeding, allocated funds for the purchase of new presidential aircrafts, paid for the national conference jamboree from the national coffers, travelled with more than necessary delegates thereby making a mockery of the office which he holds, and you expect the foreign reserve not to deplete? No wonder the world leaders keeps on disrespecting us as a nation left, right and centre, when our President doesn't understand the consequences of his actions and inactions as the case may be. so our infrastructure deficit and the war declared by those that promised to make his administration ungovernable as we are now witnessing through boko haram are not emergency situation? With this your comment u have now agreed that boko haram insurgency is not an emergency situation,then why are you people using it as your most potent campaign tool |
Politics › Re: Atiku Pledges Free Education At All Levels by karlmax2: 8:28am On Nov 07, 2014 |
matrixx9: The former Vice-President and one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said he will declare free educations at all levels if elected president of the country. Atiku has also proposed a number of ways to protect and promote the rights of women and the girl-child in Nigeria. The former vice-president spoke at the public presentation/launching of a book, “Re-thinking the legal framework for rights of women and girl-child in Nigeria,” in honour of founder, Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF), Hajiya Amina Titi Atiku Abubakar. Speaking on the state of affairs in the education sector, Atiku Abubakar, said the sector has suffered under funding due to corruption, adding that if elected president he will do everything possible including declaring free education at all level to make quality education available to Nigerians. “Definitely l will declare at all levels. We will find the resources to fund free education. When they are wasting resources on corruption, why will they not find resources to implement it. “I believe that we should have free educations at all levels, but l know that not all the state governments have the resources to undertake that. That is why when we were in government, we made free and compulsory up to secondary school level,” he said. The Turaki Adamawa, listed the ways to protect and promote the rights of women and the girl-child to include free compulsory basic education for all children under 18 years of age, to be funded by the states and local governments with support of the federal government, public health efforts to reduce the rate of maternal and child mortality. Other initiatives include the institution of a well- funded welfare system, combating sexual violence against women by encouraging them to speak out about sexual violence and other violations of their rights and prevention of all forms of child abuse such as child labour, child marriage and child abandonment. The former vice-president condemned the poor educational, health and social situation of women and the girl-child in our society and criticised the lack of opportunities available to the girl-child. He, however, commended the effort and foresight of the founder of WOTCLEF and the team that made the endeavour a success. According to Atiku, “educating girls is vital to society because girls who acquire education tend to become better mothers, and tend to have fewer, healthier and well-looked after children.” He described as “very poor and embarrassing, the 2012 Gender in Nigeria report which placed Nigeria at 118 out of the 134 countries in gender equality index stating that the report shows that we are not treating our women and girls well.” Speaking at the event, representative of NAPTIP, Abdulrahim Opotu Shaibu, a director, disclosed that the organisation has rescued more than 6,000 trafficked women and children and achieved the conviction of 258 traffickers since the agency came into being.

Politics › Re: APC Governor Sacks Over 1000 Workers. by karlmax2: 9:13am On Nov 05, 2014 |
ohisola1: The governor of Edo state Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, represented by the commissioner of Health, as at on Friday the 31st October 2014, sacked close to 2000 contract/ casual workers in all state hospitals.
This was due to the fact that the people protested after working for six months without pay. Majority of these workers have worked more than 4 years with this government without conversion to full staffs even when most of them are qualified. There has been series of promises without results.
The initial agreement on receiving the offer letter from the state, is that the individual will be converted to the position of a full staff after a maximum of two years, but this has not been the case.
The government has sacked these people , because they voiced out their frustration, and wanted the government to pay them their monthly stipends it has been owing them for over 6 months. How can a one time labour leader, be everything he fought against.
I believe these people were sacked so they can have enough slots to go round their party faithfuls as no one will be able to complain of not being converted when they finally decide to employ because technically "you have been sacked"
How can a government which has job creation has one of her agendas spear head such terrible action?
At the time of writing this, activities at these hospitals has been reduced by 90%. 98% of these ward ordelies are contract staffs, as such the hospital has been more than an eye sore since monday, as the available nurses and remaining doctors (YES, there are contract Doctors even more than 30) have decided 2 do ONLY their jobs.
If the government is serious about keeping to her words, they should call back the contract/casual workers, pay them the money they owe them (not even up to the money the governor spends as travelling allowance), screen them, then absorb them into the system fully.
Attached is a copy of the sack letter up apc ! Hope your enjoying your change ? That is how FASHOLE increased lasu school fee by 1000 % yet apc simpleton would tell you that apc would ensure free education.their own way of creating job is by sacking people and owing workers |

U gists: Why is Seun and/or nairaland admins trying ever so hard to hide the truth when it is being dugged out?
There is this myth that Christians have been marginalized in Nigerian ruling class so I posted the list of Nigerian presidents since 1963 to show a perfect balance between christians and muslim in a recent thread. This is to lay the record straight in order to dispel the lies FFK and other agents have been trying to spread in order cause religious division among us especially in the South west. But before you know it, the thread was deleted! There is absolutely nothing in that thread that abuses or calls anybody names. I wonder why nairaland is trying so hard to hide information that is freely available on google and wikipedia?
Here is the list again for those that cares about objectivity even though it probably will be deleted again as usual:
Nnamdi Azikiwe => Christian => 1963 Major-General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi => Christian => 1966 General Yakubu Gowon => Christian => 1966 General Murtala Mohammed => Muslim => 1975 Major-General Olusegun Obasanjo => Christian => 1976 Shehu Shagari => Muslim => 1979 Major-General Muhammadu Buhari => Muslim => 1983 General Ibrahim Babangida => Muslim => 1985 Ernest Shonekan => Christian => 1993 General Sani Abacha => Muslim => 1993 General Abdulsalami Abubakar => Muslim => 1993 Olusegun Obasanjo => Christian => 1999 Umaru Musa Yar'Adua => Muslim => 2007 Goodluck Jonathan => Christian => 2010-date
Out of 14, we have 7 Christians and 7 Muslims
In South west, it is said that between 1979 - 1983 all the SW states (Ogun, Oyo, Ondo) were ruled by Christian-Christian tickets. Until the advent of Amosun, Ogun state had never had a muslim governor! Just 4 years ago, before Aregbesola, Osun was a under a Christian-Christian ticket (Oyinlola and Obada).
Between 1999 to date, South west has had more christain governors than muslims (Under AD/ACN and PDP) 1999 Ekiti=>Niyi Adebayo=>AD=>Christian Ogun=>Olusegun Osoba=>AD=>Christian Ondo=>Adebayo Adefarati=>AD=>Christian Osun=>Adebisi Akande=>AD=>Christian Oyo=>Lam Adesina=>AD=>Muslim Lagos=>Bola Tinubu>AD=>Muslim

2007 Ekiti=>Segun Oni=>PDP=>Christian Ogun=>Gbenga Daniel=>PDP=>Christian Ondo=>Olusegun Agagu / Olusegun Mimiko=>PDP / LP=>Christian Osun=>Olagunsoye Oyinlola / Rauf Aregbesola=>PDP / ACN=>Christian / Muslim Oyo=>Alao Akala=>PDP=>Christian Lagos=>Babatunde Fashola>ACN=>Muslim
2011 Ekiti=>Kayode Fayemi=>ACN=>Christian Ogun=>Ibikunle Amosun=>ACN=>Muslim Ondo=>Olusegun Mimiko=>LP=>Christian Osun=>Rauf Aregbesola=>ACN=>Muslim Oyo=>Abiola Ajimobi=>ACN=>Christian Lagos=>Babatunde Fashola>ACN=>Muslim
PDP has produced more Christain governors in SW than other parties. Does that mean PDP is a Christian party?
All this religious antics are crap if you ask me. What is most important is the credibilty and the performance of the one in charge. Little wonder most south westerners doesn't even realise the fact above that there have been more christian governors.
FFk maliciously said APC governors are made up of 80 % muslims in order to manipulate the poplulace toward voting PDP against the facts above. What he maliciously lfet out is the fact that in South-East and South South governors have been 100% christians (and almost certainly, their deputies too!) So Where is the Ismalization of Nigerian? In fact, should the majority of the Northan muslim population vote against PDP since PDP is the one playing the religion politics? what of Tarawa balewa who was nigerian prime minister? And then the the prime minister was the head of government. 2 why did you not impute the amount of years these Christian heads of states ruled Nigeria?. Well if u can't I would help you |

Reiyvinn: AKINPELU ALABI WROTE: ___________________ My Open letter to APC AND Governor Ajimobi administration in Oyo State,
His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Executive Governor of Oyo state,
SUBJECT: Your Excellency, Where are the dividends of democracy you promised us in Oyo-state.?
I am constrained to make this an open letter to you for a number of reasons. Many Peoples totally believed in your government to bring the needed change to Oyo State than PDP but they have regret till this day) because your administration is not performing than PDP administration.
To start with, Sir, I wish to remind you some of your promises before the election specifically the ones you made at Splash FM during the 2011 gubernatorial debate and to know about your performance on each of the promises so far:
ROAD: Your Excellency Sir, you promised to open up rural areas for our agricultural produce to get to the city. Sir, how many of these roads have been open up since you got to office and where? You promised to dualize all major roads leading to the city. Sir, how many of our major cities road have been dualized so far and where? You promised to construct most of these roads with direct labour. Can you please state how many direct labour acts your administration employed in constructing these roads? You promised to network with Lagos State on light rail system. Please sir, what is your administration’s progress report on this?
POWER: Sir, on power generation for the state, you promised to build tarmac stations through industrial clusters, work with NGC (Nigeria Gas Company) to bring gas pipeline from Ikorodu to our city gate, get coals from Kogi, Benue and Enugu to build turbine that will be generating 400 metric tons and also use the five major dams in Oyo State to generate power for the citizens and for our economic developments. What is your administration doing on this and what is the present situation report?
WATER AND HOUSING: you confirmed the fact that less than 50 per cent of Oyo State residents have access to clean water in 2011 and you promised to improve on that by building mini water works in every local government in the state, along with other water programs. Sir, what have you done to improve on this status putting in mind that the GM of Water Corporation of Oyo State recently confirmed on Voices that more than 70 per cent of us still don’t have access to water? On Housing; you promised to build housing units for civil servants (2-bedroom flats for levels 1-6, 3-bedroom flats for levels 7-12 and 4-bedroom flats for levels 13 and above) and also to open up housing estates in the state. What are your administration’s achievements in this regard?
SECURITY OF LIFE AND PROPERTY: I wish to know how many direct and indirect jobs your administration has provided within the past 3 years? What have you done about the social safety net? What is going on with the police trust fund you promised?
ECONOMY: You promised to minimize corruption, develop and encourage trading, industrial and commercial activities, resuscitate farm settlements by providing social amenities to encourage youth involvement in agriculture and also transparency and accountability. Sir, though I think your responses on economy are vague, but to what percentage have you been able to reduced corruption in the state?How far have you been able to develop and encourage trading, commercial, and industrial activities; giving the fact that your administration has demolished most of our markets and shops without building new ones? but I believe a responsible and people oriented government should have built other alternative markets for people before embarking on that kind of exercise. I want to believe your administration is working against the common people that cast their votes for you. Sir, by what percentage has your administration improved the state’s IGR (Internal Generated Revenue) and what are its positive impacts on the state?
EDUCATION: Sir, during the interview, you promised to follow UNESCO’s recommendation. You promised teachers ratio to students to be 1:30 by the first year of your administration and to achieve the 1:25 by the second year. Please what have you been able to do on education. Since at the last check teachers’ ratio to students in majority of our primary and secondary schools are still about 1:50 or more? The Polytechnic, Ibadan has been on strike for about 3 months over a matter that can be resolved easily and your administration does not feel concerned. Since your children are enjoying their studies abroad, your administration can afford to waste the time of these youth until whenever you are ready. What is the present state of Oke-Ibadan high school and other schools you used to campaign? I hope they now have chairs and roof? How many teachers have you been able to recruit within the last 3 years of your administration?It is so funny that your generation benefited from the free education provided by the generation before you and yet your administration does not see the need to do something drastically to improve on the status of education in our state.
Finally, before I draw the curtain, I wish to seek clarification on some other related issues: Sir, what is happening to the N50billion bond that your administration is proposing? Since your people keep preaching that your administration has not incurred any debt or perhaps I don’t understand the meaning of bond. Please, is bond a debt or a gift?
Why has your administration refused to conduct local governments’ election? Sir, do you think Mokola Bridge is serving its purpose since the traffic jam has now been pushed to Adamasingba junction? Where are the Oyato buses and taxis?
Why another Ajumose buses? Your administration’s inability to ask questions about the oyato buses and taxis bought with the state’s money by the last administration gives us a clue that Ajumose buses may also disappear after your tenure in office.
Your administration embarked on the “ABC clinic” propaganda yet refused to upgrade the existing health facilities. New state Ade-Oyo is a good example, why did your administration use the same resources that can be used to upgrade the hospital to build another “ABC clinic” just because your administration wants us to think it performing more than the previous administration.
Sir is this truly for the benefit of the masses or to serve the ego of your administration? Sir, I believe a good leader is the one that looks beyond the present to the future. I wish to know the purpose of the Ajumose syndrome. Why Ajumose this, Ajumose that? I sincerely don’t believe this state belongs to either of you alone but to every one of us and you don’t have the right to name it after yourselves but to give us a general identity we can all buy into.
We need a leader that thinks beyond the next term in office and how to build a legacy that the next generation will be proud of. The idea that you are an “Awoist” is laughable.
I believe strongly that this administration is not better than the previous administration, I challenge your administration to domesticate the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act if this administration is truly what it looks like.
YOURS SINCERELY
AKINPELU ALABI Ibadan South-East local Government
