We are in politics with the fear of God and we will discharge our responsibilities with the fear of God; we will not allow PDP contractors now in our party to cause chaos in our party. Doing Business in Nigeria now easier

on october 30, 2014 at 12:40 am in news

By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief

ABUJA—The World Bank has given a positive assessment of doing business in Nigeria and 34 other countries of Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to the global body, the report of this year’s study on Doing Business indicated that almost all nations in the continent took deliberate steps to implement reforms which made doing business easier for private sector operators.
“The report, Sub-Saharan Africa has had a great year of reform, with 35 of 47 economies recording at least one reform that makes it easier to do business – 75 reforms in total”, it said yesterday.
Nigeria alone undertook 10 regulatory reforms in its push towards making private sector operators take charge of the economy.
Majority focused on improving business incorporation, trade, and credit reporting systems, allowing Nigeria to gradually narrow the gap with the best regulatory practices in the region.
The report finds that Nigeria ranks among the top five economies in Sub-Saharan Africa in two areas – the ease of getting credit and the strength of minority investor protections.
Between 2013 and 2014, Nigeria saw an increase of 3.6 points in its distance to frontier score, greater than the global average increase of 0.8.
This, the World Bank report said “is due in large part to an increase in the coverage rate of Nigeria’s credit reporting system and a reduction in the company registration fee that made it less costly to start a business.”
Nigeria is one of the 11 economies with a population of more than 100 million where the report now covers two cities, providing new insights into the variability of business regulation within economies. Lagos and Kano were covered in the report.
“This year, for the first time, the DB team analyzes business regulations in Kano as well as Lagos making Nigeria one of few countries where the report covers two cities”, the bank said.
It added, “Francophone Africa had an excellent year, with Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Togo counted among the top ten reformers globally. Senegal is the global top reformer, with 6 reforms, closely followed by Cote d’Ivoire and the DRC with 5 reforms each”.

The I.G has succeeded in casting a could over his person so early with this ridiculous move
the house of rep members that defected from pdp to apc has a case in court and tambuwal is not part of that case they claim pdp has crises during the npdp period if u can remember once the court grants judgement in favour of pdp inec would declare their sit vacant .pdp as at today does not have division. So if u listen to why tambuwal defected is not in the constitution tambuwal has just lost his sit i expect inec to declare it vacant in days to come .tambuwal can take his case to court conny man die conny man burie am

What does the Nigerian constitution say about defection in the national assembly?

Those making reference to Mimiko's defection are ignorant,as the Nigerian constitution subtly permits defection by Governors.

The Law makers that defected to APC still have a case in court and as such the PDP cannot declare their seats vacant until there is a court ruling.

BUT Tambuwal does not have any case in court challenging the possibility/outcome of his defection and so what the Federal government did was to apply the constitution to the latter. Tambuwal has defected from the PDP when there was no faction, division or crises rocking the party. This cannot be said for other lawmakers that defected when the so-called New-PDP was formed.

Tambuwal has just ruined his political future.

Escaped Chibok girls complain of negligence, abandonment

october 29, 2014 at 4:08 pm in news

BY NDAHI MARAMA, MAIDUGURI

The escaped Chibok schoolgirls who were said to have been sponsored to study in different post primary schools across the nation have complained of neglect and abandonment by the state government who kept them at one of the Government lodges in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. Sources said.
It would be recalled that on 24 September, 2014, Borno State government at a well organised reception held at the government house announced that it is going to spend N100 million on 51 of the escaped schoolgirls of Government Secondary School, Chibok to complete their secondary school in another state.
Governor Kashim Shettima while addressing the schoolgirls said the sum of N1.4 million will be spent annually on each of the 51 schoolgirls to enable them continue their studies in Kaduna or Plateau states.
But our correspondent who spoke with one of the Chibok girls, reports that the girls said that “over 50 of them were dumped in single room in one of the government lodges”.
She said “over 50 of us were kept in a single room with no enough food, as only two persons were left to take care of our feeding. Most of us came with only two or three pairs of cloths but we were only given N10, 000, five wrappers and a cellphone each for all that while”.
According to her, the embattled principal of the school, Mrs. Asabe Kwambula usually come and pick them in Batches to undisclosed locations after seizing their cellphones to deny them of communicating with their parents and loved ones.
“As I am speaking to you now, they picked 26 of us mostly Christians to unknown destination and just yesterday they picked another 13, remained only 15 of us, she complained.
She further stated that since they were brought in over a month ago they were not given enough food, as many of them complained of hunger but there is no way they can go out to buy food as they were placed under tight security watch.

Yesterday, I wept when I heard Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi at the APC/7years Anniversary Rally where he reeled out projects purportedly built by the buccaneering Gambaris to service their economic appetite for Niger Delta resources. The simple question is, how many of these projects have ever been headed by the Ikwerres, Okolobas, Ogonis, Ekpeyes etc. how many Rivers people are gainfully employed or doing business with these establishments. Every now and then, there has been this ritual of Turn-Around Maintenance in these establishment, how many indigenous companies have been engaged in these Turn-Around Maintenance. The cabotage law and the local content law is not local content of the Dumo Briggs of Kalabari or of the Olaka Wogu of Eleme or of the Ala Hart of Bonny or of the G.U Ake of Egi....It has been cabotage and local content for Dangote of Kano, Femi Otedola and Wale Tinubu of Lagos. This is what our jolly fellow CERELAC Tata boy wants us to celebrate.

Asari we know all this.ameachi and his gambari followers can only deceive those non Niger deltan miscreants and not the real people that know that the refineries is another way for them to enslave the people.ameachi should have also told us how many rivers people work
