President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission to compile documents on funds stolen under President Goodluck Jonathan. The PUNCH reliably learnt on Sunday that the directive was part of efforts to know the exact amount stolen under the Jonathan administration with a view to tracing them to foreign countries. It was learnt that such documents would be needed by the international community, which had expressed readiness to assist Nigeria to recover the funds. Buhari, had in a live programme, Good Morning Nigeria, on the Nigerian Television Authority, on July 27, said the international community was willing to assist Nigeria to recover stolen money. He had said that his administration had started compiling necessary documents that would enable the international community to assist Nigeria recover the funds. The President had stated, “We are trying to get these documents; we are getting cooperation from the international community. We are going very soon to make sure that those who perpetrated this crime against Nigeria will be faced with facts and be taken to our courts.” It was gathered that, in a bid to carry out the presidential directive, the two agencies had started analysing petitions written against ministries, agencies and departments with a view to getting the amount stolen and those responsible for it. An operative of one of the anti-graft agencies, who confided in one of our correspondents, said the managements of the anti-graft agencies had been engrossed in a sectorial analysis of petitions received from the various government agencies. Investigation revealed that the anti-graft bodies were focusing attention on the top ministries, department and agencies which attracted massive budgetary allocations from the Federal Government under the previous administration. The source said that the President’s directive was given shortly before his trip to the United States on July 20, 2015. The directive was said to have triggered a flurry of activities among the anti-graft agencies. It was further gathered that the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Larmorde, whose agency is the bigger of the two agencies, called for all the petitions and files against the various government bodies with a view to commencing holistic investigations in line with the government directive. It was gathered that the files were allocated to the various units of the commission to commence the process of invitation, and interrogation designed to find out how much was missing and the process of prosecution. It was further gathered that the ICPC on its part had been involved in a discreet investigation of civil servants believed to have acquired a lot of properties in Abuja with stolen funds. Several political office holders in the previous administration had been quizzed for alleged corruption while many are said to be on the waiting list of the EFCC and the ICPC for interrogation. The source said, “I think what is happening is not sudden; the President gave an instruction to the EFCC and the ICPC to ensure that they submit how much has been stolen in the various sectors of the economy. “Since then, the Chairman of the EFCC called for all the files of the various agencies; they are quite many and they were being sifted. “The ongoing investigation is meant to give the Presidency an idea of what was stolen within the country and in some cases outside.” When our correspondent contacted the Resident Consultant, Media and Events of the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, he said he would not comment on the story. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-orders-efcc-to-trace-funds-stolen-under-jonathan/

There was a thread That made front page yesterday on the topic "We Ladies Should Stop Visiting Guys,Rape is Real". https://www.nairaland.com/2512044/opinion-ladies-should-stop-visiting I took my time to go through the Ops write up,it was a nice reminder to ladies to be conscious, and mindful on who they visit but in other words it is actually passing some kind of black list to "Men" and refocusing any lady that reads that thread as " All Guys being rapist" or even making ladies have the mindset that any guy you visit these days will end up molesting you. To. Some large extent that thread was contradictory and could be misleadin and I really want to correct some mental affiliation on that thread.. I really love where the Op is coming from but at the middle and end of the write up she made some mistakes and generalisation of opinions which is unacceptable.. Firstly, Rape is a serious issue meant to be handled, demonic men are among us.. The ladies should be careful and wise on who they play along with.. Corrections of the Thread .. especially the guys, they'd probably say things like "she seduced him" "she initiated the sex" "she brought condom along" "no evidence since nobody was there These statement is a two way thing.. It could be true that the girl actually started the move.. Let's face it, I can tell you the major reasons why men cheat these days is not that they can't stay faithful but the ways in which our girls dress.. Men are move most time by what they see which directly induces impulse to their brains.. Check out your areas how these girls dresses..provocative way without minding, for instance if you in lagos,ph you wll know what I'm saying.. A strong godly man can get loose on seeing such things. When these ladies dress in a provocative way and come visiting, that one mistake they do, and then lay on the mans bed probably exposing other parts, and so on, so many things comes into the mans mind and at the end of the day if they are being refused they could force it on.. So we should also tackle the ladies on the stuffs thay put on and move they make when with the man alone. This same guys come here to complain about girls coming to visit them with loads of friends, why won't we come with loads of friends when we know there's a condom waiting to be used on.us Its a good thing for girls to come visitng the guy with her friends just to be safe.. but its also a bad idea not telling the guy or informing him before coming to visit him with your friends.. I mean let's look at it this way, I'm inviting you to my house and the next thing I see is you and bunch of your followers in front of my gate, I will be kind enough to send you all back because I didn't plan for a group visitation.. Before you go visiting know the aims and objectives, you will know when a guy want to have a carnal knowledge wit you before you coming, it could bt through chatting or calls.. When guys makes statement like "I can't wait to be with you when you come" I'm so lonely, wish to be by your side all alone" things like this could tell.. Though there are other guys that won't indicate their intention not until wen they see you..but the mast conversation before coming matters a lot. Yes! And by the way you don't expect a grown man with blood running in his veins not to have condoms in his house when he isn't married. I have personally stopped visiting guys since 3/4 years back, it's either you agree to meet me in my parents house when everyone is home or you meet me in an eatery This is your personal opinion and lifestlye.. And remember all opinions are opinionated.. You cant simply wish or inspire other girls to behave or do like you.. I can tell so many girls do visit guys in their houses without having issue like yours. Visitng guys in church or eatery isn't the solution, the solution is be mindful and know when and when not to visit.. People do rape ladies in church or even in the girls house.. There is this real life story of a guy going to visit a girl in her house, when the dad of the girl was upstairs, the guy followed the girl to her room, at the end of the day,the guy drugged her inside her room and had her then left..and again neglecting the Ops opinion, are you telling us for people that want to be serious with eachother should always end up meeting in an eatery or your house only? I don't think so.. Idk what else to say, but i know prevention is better than cure. I pray God deliver us from these animals disguised in human clothing called men [b] You made a conclusionary generalisation statement here.. Trying to label all men as rapist or being bad .. While in one of your post here : [b] knostbrown01: You r not ready to have a boyfriend.....the fact that all bird could fly doesn't mean the have equal feather classicB: I.do have a boyfriend and we've been together for a long time now. He's the only guy I trust with myself I wouldn't imagine you will still have a guy you go visit or love after condenming guys generally. **By The Way (ClassicB) I went through Your Profile, All the Posts or thread Has got something Doing with Guys,If You've Got Bad Experience With a Guy,try as much as possible to deal with it don't generalise on your personal Experience** thanks In conclusion some of your point was sentimentally written. All MEN Aint same.. Visiting guys isn't a bad idea, but be Mindful and stop making unecessary advances when your with him because him seeing those things makes it consensual.. God save Our Laides from Bad Men.. Happy sunday! Stay Blessed! |

Good Day everyone.. I have been reminiscing over this for a while now.. This is for matured minds who really know what relationship entails,.. During my university days i laughed and make joke out of people who complain about how hard it is to manage relationship, back then I didn't see what having a partner is really, because then, its all for the fun of it, get little cash, woo one of the girls, then have fun with her,in which you don't really spend on her and you really don't care how she takes care of herself or settle other bills or even who she sees outside you.. All I wanted then was anytime I feel lonely and Hot I could easily call on any of them and satisfy my urge so far I can be able to provide her with at least transport fare and maybe food when she comes visiting.. Life continues this way from 100level till final year.. But life after school happens to give you a different view entirely, a view that if you continue this way you really seeing yourself as not being serious with life, you tend to spend more than you expect, though you don't really have to bother about heartbreak or the likes since no much feelings is attached to any of them.. But when you found one that you love and really want to be serious with, you tried being focus, then along the way you realise that truely being in a relationship is not easy.. I mean a Matured relationship because you have to sacrifice things like neging other girls around you, giving her attention even when under pressure, supporting financially if the need arises, trying to watch your back and mistakes, having to explain some if not every action taken, appreciating her all time.. You know being totally careful just because you Love her and don't wish to leave her.. This got me asking the Matured Guys in the house.. How have you Been able to manage your relationship without cheating ? |

THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has demanded for a review of the present minimum wage paid to workers in accordance with the economic realities. The Comrade Ayuba Wabba-led faction of NLC yesterday in Abuja after its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting also said that an increment of workers salary would help to reduce corruption in the polity. He said that it was unacceptable for Nigerians including the labour force to live in abject poverty while few privileged people continue to steal the nation’s resources and starch it in foreign banks. Comrade Wabba who assured that the labour movement would lead the protest to ensure that the federal government recovered the looted funds said that NLC would organise a symbolic national one day protest to ensure that such funds in the hands of individuals were recovered. He explained that the NEC would demand from government and the tripartite partners for the review of the minimum wage. He also noted that the pitiable state of the nation’s economy has become of great concern to the labour union as it has affected the working class and had led to many states not being able to pay salaries as at when due. While appreciating the efforts of the Council of States for approving the bailout for states that had been unable to pay salaries to workers, he said that NLC was disturbed that despite the federal government gesture, the effect of the bailout was yet to be seen. According to him, while in some states relative progress had been made, few states had remained chronic, adding that the Central Working Committee, CWC of the union was of the view that payment of salary should be a matter of national priority and that the NEC would not fold arms watching workers not to be paid as at when due. For the states that had received the bailouts, Wabba called on the Federal Government to also put in place mechanism to monitor how the funds were utilised and also frowned at the development where some banks withheld the bailout fund as a result of the indebtedness of some the states to the banks. NLC condemned the waiver granted to some establishments in the country which had denied the country money while workers were subjected to pay taxes, and said that nobody should be allowed to evade taxes in any form. He urged the judiciary to hasten the trials of those indicted for looting the nation’s treasury and other allegation of treasury and also told the anti-corruption agency to always device a process to promptly responding to allegations of corruption. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/increment-of-workers-salary-ll-reduce-corruption-nlc/ |

Mr Gunsling Yarlings, the Plateau NUT Chairman, has said that tertiary institutions’ insistence on conducting post UTME was undermining JAMB’s function as a body expected to conduct the examinations to decide who should be admitted. “The implication is that the board lacks the capacity to discharge its fucntions,” Yarlings told newsmen in Jos on Thursday. . Cross section of candidates during an exam Cross section of candidates during a Post- UTME He said that JAMB’s UTME was enough to access candidates for admission into higher Institutions, and wondered why there should be other examinations after candidates had already been graded by the Board. ‘’Post UTME is tautology; it means the school authorities are undermining the capability of JAMB by conducting their own exams. “ Teachers Registration council of Nigeria (TRCN), for instance, was established to determine the standards of knowledge and skills required to become registered teachers. “NUT cannot come up with its set of rules to screen the skills required for teachers or discipline them because it clearly undermines the function of the TRCN and NUT is telling them that they are not capable of discharging their functions,’’ he said. Yarlings said that JAMB should not be scrapped because as it had always screened out those students whose senior secondary certificates indicate that that they were excellent, only to fail to acquire the cutoff maks. ‘’How can a student score `’As’ in all SSCE subjects only to fail UTME?”, he asked. He objected to allwoing institutions to conduct their entrance examinations because factors like indigeneship and the highest bidder could crop up. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/tertiary-institutions-undermine-jamb-by-conducting-post-utme-nut/#sthash.95GoYRJi.dpuf |

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday issued a seven-day ultimatum to owners of abandoned aircraft at the graveyard of the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, to evacuate them. The FAAN Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Henry Omeogu, said this in a statement issued in Lagos while on safety inspection at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Domestic Terminal 1. Omeogu said the Authority was ready to dispose the aircraft, in line with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). According to him, the action has become necessary due to recurring operational hitches that have been posing serious safety concerns to aircraft and some infrastructure at the terminal. He added that this was to forestall situations where unscrupulous elements would use them as hiding place to perpetuate criminal activities. The director, however, appealed to owners of the aircraft, some of which had been parked at the graveyard since 2005, to immediately remove them. He said the Authority would continue to do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of travellers and other airport users, in line with its mission statement, Omeogu enjoined stakeholders to partner with the Authority to ensure safer and more secure airports. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/08/faan-issues-7-day-ultimatum-to-owners-of-abandoned-aircraft-at-lagos-airport/ |
