I think Seun should move this section to the home page fast. We finally have evidence that the FG, through Nigerian Broadcasting Commission NBC, has been preventing the news media from covering the Fuel Subsidy removal protests freely. What other evidence do we need that we are dealing with an insincere government? Please let's pass this information around and let them know that we now know that they are stifling the News Media. Oya, Mr Seun, Carry this to the homepage. Abi dem dey stifle you too? |
dmainboss, sorry but you're missing the whole point. Let's assume that these guys in the picture really have BB, wear designer shoes and glasses and probably have DVDs at home that they can use to watch prisonbreak and Legend of the seeker. All the above presupposes that they probably will be able to afford the increase in fuel prices and its attendant effects. But still, they chose to come out to demonstrate against an unfair fuel price regime. The fact that their kind can come out shows that this protest is not going to be like other protests in Nigeria. Its a protest by all, not protest by the rich alone or the poor alone. dmainboss, have you ever seen a protest break out spontaneously in Nigeria like this? People are not even waiting for organised labour before taking to the streets. And I tell you, this is only day one. This is a protest that is going to engulf the whole of Nigeria. I only pity Uncle Jonathan( the coward that he is) because by the time Nigerians unleash the full force of their fury on him in the days to come, he will realise that BokoHaram is just Child's play |
Nigerian Telcom Providers have been ordered to shut down Blackberry Messenger services. This comes on the heels of unexpected protests happening all over Nigeria. The government believes that Nigerians all over are being encouraged by news streaming in through BBS about protests happening all over Nigeria and more people are now joining in. @occupynigeria |
Cost structure of crude oil - Qua Iboe Crude Oil Production Finding/Development - $3.5 Production cost - $1.5 Refining Cost - $12.6 Pipeline/transportation - $ 1.5 Distribution/bridging fund margin - $15.69 Total - 34.8 approx. Let's now what the true cost of petrol should be anywhere i Nigeria : Total cost of production & distribution of one barrel - $34.8 1 litre = $34.8 divided by 159 litres = $0.219 Naira equivalent - 0.219 x N160 = N35.02 Add tax N5 + N35.02 = N40.02 So, total cost of production, distribution and tax on locally refined fuel is 40.02. So, if the federal government is selling to us at N65, it is already making a profit of N24.98k. So, Government has not been subsidizing fora long time, rather its been making N24.98k from every litre sold to Nigerians Questions we should ask the federal govt are: 1. Why can't the 4 refineries work at optimal capacity so that we have enough refined products for both local consumption ( at N65 or less) and still make money from exporting same? 2. Why should we pay international rates fora locally refined product? We should not be importing refined products at all in Nigeria. Let the govt. go and fix our refineries so we can continue buying at same price or less. If we are not importing, we would not have cabals that would be milking the country dry. Let Uncle Joe and Co. wake up to their responsibilities and stop giving excuses that bother on corruption and inefficiency on their part. What the govt. has just done is a pump price increase and not fuel subsidy removal because there has never been subsidy has analysed below. Let's reject and protest against this with every drop of our blood and settle this fuel subsidy issue once and for all so that Uncle Joe's Govt and all subsequent govts. will know that there is no way there. WE SAY AN UNEQUIVOCAL NO TO THIS PUMP PRICE INCREASE! |
One barrel of crude oil = 42 gallons (159 litres) Combined Capacity of 4 installed refineries in Nigeria = 445,000 barrels per day Current capacity of the 4 refineries due to aging equipment and irregular TAM (Turnaround maintenance) = 30% ie. 133,500 barrels (21.2 million litres) per day Locally required consumption (FOS) = 12 million litres Point number 1. Don't let the Nigerian Government fool you. Even if we do not import fuel, current operational capacity in our refineries is enough to satisfy local demand. So why the price increase? |
This whole topic started with someone posting pictures of Madonna University. These pictures are visual evidence and shows an institution with deplorable infrastructures on ground. But I am always inclined to be cautious before passing judgment because there are always two sides to a story. Is there no one around - current or ex students of Madonna University, school officials etc who can supply more positive pictures of Madonna University? A single image is worth a thousand words. All that everybody defending Madonna University here have been offering are mere words. Somebody better come up with provable pictures of a better looking Madonna University or else, the impression all Nairalanders (who are made up of a lot of opinion influencing Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora) will go away with are the ones painted by pictures already posted. If nobody can supply better pictures of Madonna University, then I personally will be inclined to believe what I have seen as evidenced by those pictures. |

I recently wanted to change apartments and thought of getting it online instead of making the usual round of agents. But lo and behold, only one site called propertynaija.com could fulfill my need. I think all the other sites thought its only the super rich that live in Nigeria, advertising only highbrow properties in Lekki, Ikoyi and V.I alone. Though not a superbly designed site, propertynaija.com, for me, was the most functional, having listings for both high and low end properties. I even saw listings for room and parlour in Idimu and miniflat at Iyana Iba. Suffice to say, I got a 3 bedroom at Ojodu within three days through propertynaija.com I think property site owners in Nigeria should get real and start concentrating servicing all segments of the market. Not all of us earn millions monthly and we do need a roof over our heads. |
I have two empty plots available @ a prime location shortly after Iyana Ipaja garage. It is located off Cash Street. Price is N4.5m per plot asking. Another two empty plots of land are available at Ikorodu GRA, N1.5m asking. Valid deed of conveyance available on both properties. Interested? please call 01-7636311, 08058021495 or send a mail to kao71za@yahoo.com |
Guys, guys, methinks u have to check out ruemu's post. I 've had the print out of the facts on the police website for over a year now and since then like Tom Tom, its been sweet relief. What i've found out is that the more papers you carry around, the more faults the policemen are going to find with it so I go around with only four documents, my driver's licence, vehicle licence, insurance and the print out from the police website. Try it and see. Once they sight the "fourth" document, they know that you know. If they still insist on some other documents, insist that you should call the police PRO to confirm. His name is Bode Ojajuni and his phone number is right there on the print out from the website. Things has got to start changing in this country and we're part of the people that should be in the vanguard. Besides, why should anybody be taking away your hard earned money from you illegally. But a word of caution, don't shout or abuse the police, tackle them politely with the facts at hand and pls, just give them what they want if its on a lonely road at night and u're the only one in the car. |
And Afam, you have a penchant for abusing people's parents. You really need to watch it. U know. as they say, what goes around, I'm quite sure u wouldn't want pple insulting your parents here. |
Na wa o Afam. Since you have decided to waste your time speaking on an issue where your opinion is not welcome, i'll just leave u to go on posting cos' i have better things to do with my precious time. Thank God and Nairaland that I now have several options to choose from because others that are not so stuck up like you have called me. And don't worry, despite all your attempt at selling yourself with the SQL and other technical jargons u mentioned, I wouldn't touch you with a 100 feet pole because its very obvious you'll be a difficult person to work with. u've really got an attitude problem bro. And as from now, u can post all you care to cos I ain't replying your posts again. au revoir |
Well said as usual, my2cents. I took your suggestion and visited webmastersofafrica. There's only one nigerian webmaster listed and we've already initiated discussions. Two other webmasters called me and i've seen some of their sites. But i'm still open to other possibilities. Here's calling on any interested web designer on trhe nairaland forum. I have a very good business idea but can't achieve it without the services of web designers. Interested web designers can come in as partners without dropping a single penny. My number once again is 01-7636311. My email is kao71za@yahoo.com. Pls this is a very serious business proposition and its open to all web designers. Any uninterested party should find something better to do with his/her own time instead of posting unsolicited opinion. Afam pls take note. ![]() |
Up yours Afam! Now will u bloody well mind your own business if u're not interested. |
I would not want to join issues with anybody here. I simply sent in aa enquiry requesting anybody that was interested to contact me. I'm the one that knows my business, i'm the one that has mapped out a plan on how to realise it and i didn't ask for a critique 'cos it seems as if that's all some pple come to do on nairaland. Anybody that's interested in my request should pls contact me on 01-7636311. And thanks mytwocents. You're just about the only one that came up with a reasonable suggestion out of all the people that's replied so far. Don't know the problem with some pple. They can't even recognise some business opportunities when its right under their very nose. |
I currently head an advertising agency based in Magodo, Lagos. We are starting an online marketing subsidiary because we believe the future of advertising is online. We need webdesigners to come in as partners and part owners of this business, preferably one male and one female. I've seen a few of this kind of request posted on nairaland and i seriously am not ready to answer questions through the nairaland medium. Interested parties should pls call me on 01-7636311. Serious pple pls. |
Joftech, you have made me very sad. Know why? Because the same problem with the Nigerian populace is what is rearing its ugly head in this discussion. For just daring to suggest that we all contribute only N1000, Joftech is insinuating that Omo Alhaja is looking for a new gold mine and has the audacity to suggest that we pay him to build the website. Joftech, you are a very selfish Nigerian! In fact, its your type that is exactly the problem with Nigeria, because its your type that will get into government position and begin to `chop'. Once again Joftech, I repeat, you are a very selfish Nigerian. Klex, I like your own submission. Unlike Joftech, whose brain seem to be a made up of components from a money counting machine, your submission was much more objective. Believe you me, I don't know anything about the logistics. But I know we can start by selling this idea to NLC. Their strikes are no longer working. A change in tactics is of paramount importance. NUPENG, PENGASSAN and the rest are affiliates of the NLC. They are the ones that should work out the logistics And to the second point you raised. Conservative estimate puts the population of Nigeria at 120m. That figure multiplied by N1000 gives you 120 billion. Half that amount will comfortably build two to three refineries. Klex, why don't we for once jettison the problems associated with a project like this and look at the possibilities. Ideas are what moves the world. This is an idea. Let's move with it and see how far we can go. It will only cost us N1000 and it just might be the solution to all our fuel problems |
As a matter of fact, i prefer older ladies. The older, the more experienced, y'know. I've gone out with two older ladies and i enjoyed the experience. |
