You were killed in people's minds but what happened? More of your people were made to swim in potopoto water. At least Kanu has the advantage to have witnessed the outcomes of his alleged murder and it's clear to see that he is a nonentity
It's the revenue generated from the oil gotten from our backyard that is keeping this nation alive today. yet before we get anything it will first go to the north then the west before us.
They are just using us. trying to milk us dry for their selfish interest claiming one Nigeria.
We provide more to this nation The only thing the rest of them bring is overpopulation.
When elections come they start to tell us how we are insignificant politically, so they hardly pick a candidate from the south South, but when it's time to collect oil revenue they remember the south South.
they only build rails that leads to oil areas or oil communities because thats all they ever want from us, the oil.....
God will punish the person that almagamated this country
for those that are talking about 13% I'm not sure you're alright. what can 13% do.
2nd Niger bridge alone is worth 206bn.
we need 50% of our oil revenue, you all can manage the rest 50% and use your population to generate more revenue by taxation...
you guys can appoint who you want as ministers or service chiefs or vice president we don't care just give us our money...
is it not surprising that we couldn't even get a VP slot
pdp- Atiku / obi - north/east
APC Buhari /osibanjo north/west
I guess it's only in collecting oil revenue that the south is important ABI
what happened to the ogoni clean up.. for 4 years now
feddis: Talking about illiteracy, you sing the growth of our reserves like GEJ actually literally left them empty. Are you not simply an illiterate for believing such? If the our reserves was really empty, how come Buhari came and Nigeria still had such great borrowing power that has given him the ability to borrow about N13trn naira in 3 years?
How much could we use to defend the economy on the $27 billion he left behind before we entered Venezuelan territory?
Stop digging your hole deeper. You don't know much
feddis: We've grown our reserves yet our economy is still hazy... That's growth in the shadows.
Growing reserves doesn't necessarily translate to improved macro or micro economic conditions. Stop being an illiterate or don't argue on a subject you know nothing about
feddis: This nation faced recession under PDP in 2008 and survived. Tell me how we will end up like Venezuela again.
The reserves that was used to survive was exhausted by Jonathan, which was why 2015 recession was brutal. Now that Buhari has built it back up, hope we don't have to use it indiscriminately.
LordAdam16: We've been through the worst. Informal (black market) exchange rate is 360. Investors bringing in their dollars use 364. Floating the exchange rate will take it to somewhere between 350 and 400 and eliminate these multiple windows and associated shady practices.
Minimum wage is about to be increased. So the economy and the people can absorb the 20-30% devaluation.
-Lord
We need to rid off multiple exchanges for sure. But the political palatable way will be to ease into it. Makes a lot of sense in 2020 if Dangote and Adebutu refineries come online. We are way too exposed to the shocks of the oil commodities market. I believe most politicians acknowledge the necessity of implementing this, afterall IMF and world bank sing the tune all the time. It's just a political landmine and we are worse off for it.
LordAdam16: I'm not your average Joe so don't come at me with that regurgitated trash sent from your BMC HQ.
There are plenty of import-dependent economies that operate a floating exchange rate. China is an export-dependent economy that loosely pegs its exchange rate. There's no one-size-fits-all policy.
By fixing the rate in an import-dependent economy, you first have to use scarce dollars to sustain the rate, while also subsidizing and encouraging more imports by prodding an artificially low rate.
None of those fancy buzzwords you used are happening anytime soon. It's all brainless ranting from individuals who have no sense of scale of how f*cked up the country's situation is.
We aren't getting steady power in the next 10 years. Security isn't a crippling issue in our most economically viable cities (Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kano, Kaduna, Ibadan, Aba, Onitsha, Warri...). Our infrastructural deficit will not be solved in decades with our current fiscal inefficiency. Ease of doing business is not like a light switch you flip. It's gradual.
I wouldn't even respond to the others. No normal person will be talking about industrialization in a country of 200m people that produces less than 4000 MW. And we certainly do not have the expertise to engage in high-value manufacturing for exports. That's like taking a toddler to the Olympics.
You guys always try to spout untenable rubbish without doing any on-ground assessment like typing "fix power" on social media will somehow generate the $200b we need to actually fix power. You want to stop fuel importation when there are no refineries. You think feeding school children and employing temp teachers will stimulate a $400b economy.
Then you talk about revenue diversification by agriculture and solid minerals when agriculture is already Nigeria's largest employer of labor and solid minerals only reinforces the resource curse.
As you can see, you've typed exactly nothing noteworthy or useful; yet want others to have confidence in the current depraved plan to fix the exchange rate with all its attendant issues. All of Nigeria's high growth period have correlated with practicing a floating rate regime. When the next oil crash comes, you can put a leash on the rate. But don't suffocate the economy during an oil price upswing when it is clear to even the blind that oil will continue to be one of the primary determinant of economic performance.
-Lord
While floating the naira makes solid fiscal and economic sense, it will be political suicide on the short run. Most Nigerians don't understand or appreciate the nuance. Their simple benchmark is how much the naira exchanges with the dollar and the cost of goods increasing.
You'll have to first educate the populace or else they'll drive the politician out.
kayfra: An average Nigerian will scream bloody murder when Atiku implements this. The value of naira to the dollar will dramatically rise, probably north of 700 Naira to a dollar and prices of everything will increase immediately.
While it seems like a reasonable economic policy. Nigerians are absolutely not ready for it.

devindevin2000: The way these Kenyans dey insult Yorubas for Youtube because of Biafra, you go pity yorubas. Everybody now know they envy Biafrans especially Igbos.
fabiano09: It will be a shame for any learned individual whether for or against the federal government to support the judges decision not to grant their prayers,to be honest partisan politics by our learned judges have all but ruined this old profession of law in naija, out judicial system has become a joke, justice Binta nyako is a disgrace to the profession, history will judge them.
ZombieNation: [[s]quote author=kayfra post=72599384]All he has to do is have a spokesperson like Lai or Adeshina go out and claim that they are looking to having a referendum for Biafra and have Kanu announce his boycott.
This strategy will be very effective if it's timed like a month or two before the elections to maximize its effectiveness. Of course, they'll have to make the illusion believable enough . Not like the later is really that necessary since most iPob members are Odes anyway. They'll believe anything Biafra
Boycott the elections in the SE
[/s] I thought you guys claimed SE are part of the inconsequential 5 percentile group?
If so, why is a SE vote boycott bugging you?
Zombie
You're so inconsequential that we can knock you guys off with a few iPob members. Think about that for a second if you can
yuvisan: You no serious! The highest joke, who wants to pander to Ipob illiterates. Know they are not speaking the minds of Igbos. Biafranists are like malignant tumor ,cancerous and spreading widely threatening to snuff life out of the victim if not excised with the proper surgery and medicine.
But pandering to them is guaranteed to weaken the SE votes
SarkinYarki: Nobody says 3 years is enough but at least in 3 years we will see the vision of where a govt is headed and till date the only vision Buhari has communicated is poverty , ineptitude , bloodshed , poor thought process , nepotism nland destruction... Believe even if yo give Buhari 300 years nothing will improve , if you give Buhari the Swedish economy today in 6 months they will be in a recession ... please watch this video and tell if anything good or smart or visionary can come from the dull character you see below
jumper524: Stop making enemies of states look too important man.. Deep down they dont want that biafra, thier problem is buhari and they have no definite reason for hating him. So whoevers Buharis enemy either Good or Bad, reasonable or not, foolishh or stvpid. they tend to love that person
But as a political strategist don't you see that as a low hanging fruit to exploit?
SarkinYarki: Why anyone will want Buhari to win the elections is what I don't understand ooo?
You can't judge his performance steering the ship in 3 years to fix a 16 year wreckage while the alternative is giving the ship back to the party that wrecked it in the first place.
All he has to do is have a spokesperson like Lai or Adeshina go out and claim that they are looking to having a referendum for Biafra and have Kanu announce his boycott.

jpphilips: Shut up your ugly teeth, I just taught you A1 visa you are hopping around like an over fed Kangaroo as if you have heard it in your life, you want to educate me on a subject I brought to your ignorant notice, were you not the semi lunatic that made this dumb comment before?
A1 visa is not given to you because you are head of state, being head of state qualifies you to apply for one (first step). Each travel buhari makes to the US, his diplomatic passport will be sent to get his A1 visa stamped before he travels else, his plane will not even land.
Atiku I believe should have a diplomatic passport already as an ex vice president, go and read the criteria for issuing diplomatic passports in Nigeria, Atiku's problem will be applying for A1 visa as head of state (God forbid), he is on a life time time visa ban, he has submitted his diplomatic passport before in 2011 and he was denied, his presidency (God forbid) makes no real difference, that's how the world works, I know Atiku's dollars just liberated you from your miserable village life, dont worry, we are all here to help your stup!dity. lying bingo!!
This mumu finally goes to read about A1 visa after I mentioned it.
Lmao.
Atiku no longer has a diplomatic passport.
"Period of validity of a diplomatic passport. The period of validity of a diplomatic passport, unless limited by the Department to a shorter period, is five years from the date of issue, or so long as the bearer maintains his or her diplomatic status, whichever is shorter. A diplomatic passport which has not expired must be returned to the Department upon the termination of the bearer's diplomatic status or at such other time as the Department may determine.'
Spend your time campaigning against Atiku like I am doing and stop using me to earn a diploma online
Pavarottii: I dare ur ass to list a project started and ended by dis administration
Why start new projects for starting sake when we have so many abandoned projects that litter the landscape? Are there no merits to the already initiated projects with our money invested in it?
jpphilips: So Omar Bongo resurrected from the dead to Visit the US after the report was published in 2010? you are an irredeemable demon!! If you had any shame with several of your lies busted here, you would have buried your face in shame, if possible delete your nairaland account. your question is still waiting for you Where did the US say they refused Arafat entry because it doesn't recognize Palestine?
You still don't get it. Jesu!
Look. If you idiots elect Atiku. He'll be issued an A-1 Diplomatic visa. You can argue with your used tissue paper. I don't think I can help your predicament of being slow on the uptake. Go to MFM or a babalawo for that
