Many Igbos cannot afford to go into any evil alliance with anything Yoruba. The bile-filled hatred embedded in the heart of virtually every Yoruba person cannot be over-emphasised. Igbos are comfortable having a separate existence from greedy, treasury looters cum murderous backst*bbers.

See the magnitude of hatred and evil in Yorubas and their Northern masters have that made you lots to promise to wipe SE and SS people off the surface of the earth had untoward thing happened to PMB in the botched Ogoni visit.

These bigots never deemed it fit to write the wiping out of Yorubas when PMB didn't show up in Lagos.

Parasites are usually the ones screaming 'One Nigerian', not because they love others, but because they can't survive without them.

Shameless Afonjas!
Pure fiction in real life grin

A mixed economy as practiced by america is not the kind you are trying to emphasize. Creating aid packages for the vulnerable does not make them less capitalistic. Capitalism is part of the american psyche
The east also has a similar socialistic programes for the poor. Imo state runs a free university courtesy of okorocha(i don't want to go into feasibility), other governors in the east have been known to give out LOANS. That is the kind of socialistic program i support anyway.
America gives free money to the poor, but that is because they can now afford to. Capitalism has created a lot of rich folks who can then be taxed by the state to cater for the poor.
Nigeria is not rich enough. Our socialistic program which we can not afford anyway is not productive.
I thought our conversation was more driven by historical precedence than anything else. In 2016, one would expect each state to adopt elements of all economic systems that are beneficial. But that part of our culture that gave us our unique identities predates the exploration of the white man. That is what I am talking about. How Yoruba and Igbo are not rivals by any word. Just people with different mindsets and orientations.

America will always crow about capitalism since they like to pretend like they invented it. Nobody is doubting the merits of capitalism, hell, I am a capitalist myself. But let's not pretend like the system on its own is not dog eat dog. I gave you Somalia aa a pure capitalist country example.

Capitalism without aspects of socialism usually turns to a failed society.

This is hilarious indeed! It's an open secret that inspite of the supposed superior education of the Yorubas they seem not to be detached from ritual-killings and cannibalism. And that's why evil forests pervade Yoruba enclave.

In SE the popular Okija shrine is not up to a local government area but in the SW a whole 2 States are dedicated to wicked deities - Ogun and Osun.

Till date many Yorubas rarely believe that one can achieve success without recourse to rituals. The notoriety of the Yoruba nation in this regard warranted a Kenyan to go into a research and was able to come up with a verdict that Yorubas are the most fetish tribe in Africa.
Cannibalism is not equal to ritual killing.

Now you are bringing up a different issue.
Ofcourse , any sane country would have safety nets for the vulnerable and the poor. Iit dosen't make them less capitalistic.
The richest brands in the world are in america. America's defence industry is not even in the hands of the state.
APPLE corporation founded by one man steve jobs at a certain point had more raw cash in its disposal than the US government. You can never be more capitalistic than that.
But fact remains that America practices a mixed economy. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Obamacare, Section 8, WIC (food stamps), farm subsidies etc etc too many to list.

You find both system in the West. The east is just more dogged with their capitalism compared to other regions in Nigeria. It's both a strength and a weakness.

Cannibalism was found in every nook and cranny of Nigeria in varying proportions. And even in the developed europe at a point in their history.
Not in the West, I am referring to an official cultural endorsement of cannibalism not some random madman here and there.

You can convince me otherwise with new proof.

I don't where rival clans eat other rival clans in the east. It is the west i know that engages in very bloody communal conflicts.
Besides, democratic system in the east though not perfect was superior to anything in any other part of Nigeria. It could have undergone a lot of positive evolution with time.
Capitalism is individualistic. Even in america and western europe today, which is why we have the american dream where anybody can aspire to be anything as long you are able to work hard for it.Which is Why we have the global 1%.
Corporate capitalism whatever that means is more or less socialism or even communism.
America and Europe practice a mixed economy. There are too many social safety nets that calling them capitalists countries is laughable.

The only country that practices 100% capitalism is Somalia.

That was exactly was going on in Yorubaland during the pre-colonial era. Yorubas busied themselves in fighting all over the place especially in that popular Kiriji war.

This uncivilised way of life later reincarnated immediately after Nigeria Independence as Awolowo engaged Akintola in a bloody supremacy war that gave rise to the 'Operation Wetie' where political opponents were subjected to great arson, maiming and wanton destruction of lives and properties.
There is a remarkable difference between interstate wars (we had city-states) and inter clan wars. Cannibalism as a cultural practice was never documented or found in the West. We were just more civilized, facts you or I can't change.

One is egaliterian, meritocratically capitalistic and practiced a historically superior democratic system of governance predating colonialism,, the other is somewhat subservient, always need a ruler, and socialistic regardless of its feasibility.
Both practice meritocracy and capitalism(mixed with socialism in the West) to varying degrees, more skewed towards individuals in the east and more corporate in the West. A democratic system that makes one literally eat rival clans often in small hamlets is simply an uncivilized way of living.
CultureRe: Igbo And Yoruba Rivalry by kayfra: 4:25pm On Jul 25, 2016
There simply isn't any rivalry. We are different.

One has been living a cosmopolitan lifestyle even before colonization. They think and act. The other is extremely clannish and tribal with a tendency of acting before detailed analysis. Both have extremely smart people but their natural inclinations leads to the former having more communal success and the later individual successes.

Why do your kind always feel threatened when the issue of resource control is raised?
Imagine the IGR if we were only paying taxes to fed govt so we can retain our resources.
Our IGR would shoot through the roof.
I am sure you won't recognize a real threat when one stares you in the face. Someone is relaying your tendencies to you and somehow you think the person feels threatened. Can you show me something, anything, you guys have not managed to run aground? Only Edo (technically not Niger Delta) and the folks I mentioned in my earlier post seem to have managed a civilization. Majority of the folks there just want easy money, get drunk and repeat. Zero sense of self preservation. All they do is blow sh.it up.

One thing is certain with the Igbo Nation: Igbos are not like the Yorubas and some other docile tribes in Nigeria who are too myopic to follow criminals and their rougish candidates sheepishly and blindly. Igbos are not political saboteurs like the Yorubas who are mendacious and notoriously known for making a living out of lies, falsehood, noise-making, propaganda, abuse and slurs.

At the outset of PMB administration Igbo leaders were the first to visit Aso Rock to congratulate him and pledge their support for him. Immediately Yorubas and their cohorts were infuriated and were all over the media ranting and abusing Igbo leaders for making such visits. The bitterness was vivid and yet Igbo leaders did not insult or attack the presidency.

It's on record and verifiable that Igbos have not stood against the progress of the presidency.

In aftermath of the 2011 victory of GEJ at the polls Yoruba National Youth Corp Members where butchered by PMB kinsmen without much noise from the Yorubas.
Yorubas did not deem it to rant carelessly and make noise everywhere.

In the build up to the 2015 general elections many Yorubas and their numerous media outfits abused GEJ and the office of the presidency with reckless abandon. Yorubas called GEJ unprintable names - clueless, shoeless, drunkard, fisherman, dumb, Boko-Haram sponsor even when it's an open secret that BH was an evil invention by Northerners to destabilise and islamise the country; coupled with treasonable threats like forming a parallel govt, make the country ungovernable,  'soaked in the blood of dog and the baboon' threat.

Yorubas and their elites spearheaded the campaigns of calumny and insults that earned GEJ the most insulted president ever in history.

Indeed, virtually every Yoruba person is blinded by hypocrisy and delusion. Just last Saturday, July 10, 2016, a Yoruba woman was dismembered by Northern islamists for preaching in Abuja and yet the deluded people are nowhere to be found on NL creating endless threads to register their anger.

To the hypocritical Yorubas, the Hausa-Fulanis are peaceful and accommodative and thus have no problem; they can kidnap, kill, maim, destroy and ravage Yorubaland and as much as they like.
Yorubas are more concerned about the Igbo people seeking self-determination peacefully than a group of islamic fanatics butchering and slaughtering people under the guise of religion even without provocation.
Wetin concern Yoruba with Igbo on Igbo crime?
