You think you made a valid point, yes you have, but its an opinion of a man with limited knowledge. Travel the world and you will see Government's welfare programme for the citizens. In the UK, education is subsidized, even students loan are a right to every citizen whose parents cant afford. Medicare is subsidized. In most countries even housing is subsidized but in Nigeria you have nothing, even the sun has no mercy on you, yet you want the thieving government to remove subsidy. you need cheap fuel to keep your AC on in your home and in the car. Stop suffering and smiling.
Well...I can see ur travel experience is quite myopic....in as much as I agree that govt gives loans, grants and other facilities to make life easier but don't forget Nigeria also have some areas where subsidy is enjoyed....free education is enjoyed in govt schools in the southwest, highly and almost free medical care in the general hospitals, subsidized water in some parts of Lagos...As much as agree that the govt should do more so we can be at par with the western world but we are taking steps that will take us there....and we are better off a lot of African countries. For the issue of the oil subsidy it is a peculiar case with Nigeria. I have stated it in my previous post that taking off the subsidy might be tough initially but at the long run it is for the good of Nigerians when the market forces act on it....and I gave example of the telecoms when mtn, airtel, Etisalat and glo crashed prices for the common man to own a gsm now....I remembered I bought my mtn line in 2001 for 32k and bought my 3310 for 20k but today almost all SIM cards is free and vendors beg you to buy one and get one free.
I can give you another example....I remembered when prime time music with Kenny ogungbe and D1 was the only label that mattered becuz they had the industry in their kitty....but today who dey patronize them....the market is open and we have different record labels and you can still be as superstar without Kenny and D1.
I hope we can see beyond this period and break the monopoly of the oil cabals and stop all fraud coming from subsidy.

Gud write up but I have to wonder, why was it so viciously opposed by d same ppl in 2012. They claimed "there is nothing like subsidy, it is a scam." am I missing something?
My only hope is that the money gotten from the subsidy will be used to better the lot of Nigerians and not embezzled like the sure p.

I'm only talking about the way forward not going backwards to Jonathan matter...besides what did they do with sure p funds generated from the partial subsidy.....

Spit on u past govt removed it I saw u jumping up and down on the street in the name of protest, now u think its wise to still remove what they tagged evil in the last administration. fashola was behind subsidy removal but he was the first to deny gej when it was removed. They said its a scam now its not a scam. by the way were is sure- p cos last time I checked it has be dissolved yet they claim the want to do re investment through which method?
Sorry bro...I wasnt even in the country to join the protest...
We all know the sure p was just a means by which all the money gained from the partial removal of subsidy was embezzled and looted.
I'm willing to give this govt a chance and see what will be done with the funds gained from subsidy...other than still buying fuel for 130-150 per litre and yet the marketers still collect subsidy payment for sales on 87 per litre.

I disagree, we need to tell ourselves the truth. The country is broke, crude is less than 40 dollars per barrel, we have unsold crude floating in the ocean. We paid almost 1 trillion naira for subsidy in 2015 alone, yet we still buy at 120 naira

As at this morning...it's 37 USD per barrel and by end of Jan....it might get a worse as 25 USD per barrel from the look of things....tough times ahead.
Who that is wise should stalk up food etc now...so we go still see good chop food at least.
Nigeria depends on oil and the industry is not look I good world wide at the moment....there is massive retrenchment all over the multinationals world wide and very few hiring....policies in different companies are changing so that they can survive this period....
Fayemi (minister for solid minerals) and Adudu ogbeh ( Agriculture) Adeola ( finance) needs to wake up and come up with plans that will help us diversify our oil economy because it's not looking good in the industry at d moment but we will survive and won't be hungry by the grace of God.

Oh! U listen to the lies this Apc tell right....I see,

Bt the country is not broke for the senator to get #8million car each.

U av been brainwashed

I am not a party member or affiliated to any of the parties ....I agree our senators are rogues and don't represent the interest of the masses but their pockets....but this is my argument.

What I'm saying is that the money paid to this subsidy which can't be verified and runs into billions of naira can be used for infrastructure development...
If subsidy is remove market forces will act on it....and the price will eventually fall....it might be high initially but it will eventually crash.....
Take our mobile lines for example....when mtn used charge us 50naira per min...even if u spoke for just 2sec you will be billed 50naira....but when the other service providers came into the market....e.g. glo....came in and started billing per sec....mtn and econet now airtel had to crash their prices too....As a result many tariff plans started coming up from all the different service providers in other to encourage their subscribers and keep them as customers. This is what will eventually happen to the oil sector when it is fully privatize and govt takes hands off the subsidy....After all these marketters are not honest...some don't even bring in the amount of oil they get subsidy for....some adjusts der pumps in d filling stations....They hold the country to ransome and go on strike at will...some are selling for 150 naira per litre yet they collect money for subsidy at 87 naira....If subsidy is removed you get value for your money and all dis fraud will stop or be reduced

What is the difference btw isis and BH?

Anyways I would advice if my opinion counts is that they should focus on BH and finish with them first except they have intelligence they want to share with other nations concerning isis gotten from BH suspects.

There is no way Jonathan will escape this....If indeed there will be fairness and justice to the other suspects....Jonathan can't claim innocence to all that transpired with the arms deal and he kept sharing dollars to different people and groups e.g opc, afenifere, ohanize, pastors, Nans, obas etc... No wonder he kept on shouting during campaign..."Do you want to go to jail if buhari becomes president" and his wife saying she doesn't want to feed her husband in jail....He compromised Nigerians security and safety and this many people died in a war that could have ended long ago yet his zombies keep wailing saying Jonathan said no Nigerian blood is worth my ambition....if he wan worth nko...There will be no country again called Nigeria?

This is one of the reasons l missed Jonathan, in his 5 yrs plus tenure, they were rear cases of politically motivated assasination. 'MY AMBITION IS NOT WORTH THE BLOOD OF ANY NIGERIAN'.
My ambition is not worth the Blood of any Nigerian but the money that should be used to procure arms for our soldiers was diverted to Jonathan election campaign and our soldiers were running for their lives when they ran out of bullets and boko haram had an open day maming, killing and kidnapping angry
