The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, is inviting applications from suitably eligible candidates for the Overseas MSc and PhD scholarships to specific programmes at selected institutions under its PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the 2022/2023 academic session.

The scheme was developed in order to offer candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diversified pool of knowledge and the facilities offered by world-class institutions across the globe. Candidates under it are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at the partner institutions. The award includes the provision of flight tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable), and the provision of allowances to meet the costs of living and accommodation.

PTDF Overseas Scholarship Eligibility
For Ph.D Applicants:

i. Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
ii. Must be computer literate
iii. Must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good second-degree certificate.
iv. A research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than five pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection.
v. All lecturers must produce a letter from their Vice Chancellor confirming that they are not in receipt of any other scholarships.
vi. Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the scholarship. Applicants should note that they will be required to verify their NIN before proceeding with the application (NIMC verification charges apply).

For M.Sc Applicants:

i. Applicants must have a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience
ii. Applicants Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)

iv. Must possess 5 O'level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, is in partnership with the international integrated energy company Eni, to offer up to three students from Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, or the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) the opportunity to study for a fully funded degree in 2022/2023

These scholarships will enable St Antony’s to admit up to three of the outstanding African students irrespective of means and will add immeasurably to the diverse and intellectual character of the College. This is part of a joint initiative between Eni & St Antony’s College to invest in and strengthen African leadership.

St Antony’s and Eni are equally willing to provide encouragement and where possible, structured incentives for Eni Scholars to further their studies or find useful employment back in their home country after graduating from Oxford.

Eni Scholarships Eligibility

(1). The scholarships are open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville). Preference will be given to applicants who obtained their first degree from an African university.
(2). The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of both academic merit and potential and financial need. Preference will be given to applicants whose ambitions is clearly to use their accumulated learning to benefit their home country after graduation.
(3). Ensure you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including English language requirements.

Relevant Courses will be taken for the Ph.D. studies where prescribed and a Thesis is required at the end of the Ph.D. programme.

(2). M.Phil /Ph.D. Degree Programmes

Candidates who obtained a score between 55.00 and 59.99 percent Cumulative Grade Point Average are eligible to apply for admission into the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil/Ph.D.) degree programme. The M.Phil/Ph.D. degree programme is available only to full-time candidates. It runs for a minimum period of 12 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months and a dissertation is produced after the research work. Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. candidature, following a progress assessment report to be made by a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first session of registration. To be eligible for conversion for the Ph.D. program, candidates should not score less than 60% (aggregate) at the end of the first session.

(3). Master Degree Programmes
