Family / Re: Time To Divorce My Wife? by kboy3(m): 4:32am On May 06, 2020
noakchukibadan:
Hello,

Please no ethnic banters. One of us is from Ekiti, and the other is from Benue. I am married for 8 years with 2 kids. It has been one problem to another.

I must be very frank, before marriage, my wife had many very questionable characters, but unfortunately we did the marriage counseling in a church were the pastor happened to be her family member. Many of the issues would have been resolved, but when I raised those issues about her character the pastor promised me that everything will be fine after the marriage.
Although this is not an excuse, but looking back now I would have been more patient and taken my decision myself instead of rushing into the marriage. For this I HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE

There is hardly nothing we do not quarrel about, I have always been the one to initiate settlement. The only way I ensure that there is peace in the house is for me not to complain about anything. Even at that, there is always trouble. If the children do anything wrong, she always says those characters the children are exhibiting are not from her and that she is not surprised that they inherited such characters from me.

She can go for months without talking to me, even if I tried to, I have done all I could do, I have begged, cried prayed. I just feel tired and exhausted from trying to make the marriage work or have peace in the home, the sad part is that she often reminds me every time there is misunderstanding that I should remember that she can stay on her own without talking to any body. Just to add, she is very prayerful.

OTHER INFORMATION.
1. I can say conveniently that there is no money problem at home. Finance is okay.
2. I went to see her father 2 years ago, the man said unfortunately he can not do anything. This is true because she was raised away from her Father, she has no contact with any of her fathers family and her father has a zero say in her life.
3. she has 5 elders ones, non of them is in communication with her because of many unresolved issues. Of her 3 younger ones she only maintains a relationship with the last boy who is just 14 years. .
4. Her mum can not talk to her because she simply dares not. However, behind, her mother use to beg me and she kept saying she understands her daughter's character and that she is doing her best by praying and doing deliverance for her.
5. She is not in contact with her maternal uncles and aunt because she said they supported her elder ones when she had problem with them.

So I am stuck with no one to help call the both of us and resolve the issue.

Every year for 5 straight years, she always forgets my birthday, last year, she forgot also, three days later, she bought me a present and I refused to collect the present and I asked her why does she keep forgetting my birthday, year after year for 5 years. She just said sorry, but I left the present in the room, she never bothered to bring the present to me. Another birthday was gone yesterday 2nd May, and as I write, no happy birthday yet.

I literally cook for myself, and all domestic things I do for myself.

I will end this by saying that in fairness to her, her character was not too different before the marriage and courtship, sincerely only once, that was like one year before the marriage I broke up with her, she came to apologize and promised that she will change. Her mother also came to apologize to me also.

This woman has refused to change or allow peace to hold sway, she is right every time, while everybody around is wrong. Sincerely, I do not know what to do anymore.

I am tired and exhausted. I do not know what to do anymore. I am 42, I was diagnosed of high blood pressure 2 years ago.

You have been a very patient man and God will reward you. If I were you , I will change my pattern it seems you have been too predictable in your marriage. Focus on raising your kids right.

Romance / How To Know If He Loves You? by kboy3(m): 9:24am On Nov 05, 2008
Girls are a bit apprehensive when it comes to their relationship with a guy. It has been noted that men hesitate to express their love or feelings and end up laying a false belief for themselves. It is not only difficult but even more complex to analyze what a man desires and what is going in his mind. The question whether he loves me or not usually bothers every girl. But, with one ideal solution it is possible to know the actual love of the guy for you.

Tips to Know if He Loves You
Don't worry damsels, here are some useful tips to know whether your mate/partner or lover really loves you or not:

* A very obvious one when he takes interests in your matters like work schedule, it means he is really concerned with you and loves you.

* Whenever a guy keeps a track on your habits, remembers whatever you do and say simply indicates his love for you.

* When a guy wants to spend more time with you, dates out with you at places of your choice and share the your favorite pastimes then he is madly in love with you.

* If he gives more importance to his friends even if you are sick or in need of him shows his lack of interest in you.

* Changing of topic when you discuss about your future with him is not a good sign of a healthy relationship with your love.

* If he doesn't want to spend time with you or don't ever want to go out with you in public and never introduces you to his friends mean he does not love you.

* When he calls you or message you just to chitchat with you means he deeply loves you and was finding any reason to talk to you.

* If he is really concerned about you and loves you then he would always take out time from his busy schedule.

* When he keeps looking you when you are around and suddenly takes off his eyes when you look at him shows he's in love with you.

* When he praises about you to his friends, family and others means he truly loves you.

* His every action will make you believe he loves you.

* If he changes his plans or cancels them last minute then he is surely avoiding you.

* If he is trying to be friendly with you and tries to make an effort to know more about you shows signs of love for you.

* You can make out from a person's eyes. The person in love with you has special shine in his eyes when he's talking to you.

Health / How To Never Get Sick! by kboy3(m): 10:48am On Nov 03, 2008
1. Smile when you say that! Bob Hope made it to his 100th birthday, and so did George Burns. Coincidence? Maybe not. Laughter releases endorphins, those “feel good” hormones suspected of boosting immunity, and that might make you more resistant to disease, says Michael Irwin, M.D., of UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine and a former adviser for the federally funded National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. “At the very least, laughter reduces stress hormones, which we know have a bad effect on immunity,” Irwin adds.

If you’re the strong, silent type, a good belly laugh now and then may be especially important. Doctors used to think hard-charging Type A’s were at heightened risk for heart disease, but “we’ve moved on from that,” says David Katz, M.D., M.P.H., a preventive-medicine specialist at the Yale School of Public Health and coauthor of Stealth Health: How to Sneak Age-Defying, Disease-Fighting Habits Into Your Life Without Really Trying (Reader’s Digest Books, 2005). “We know now it’s having a so-called Type D personality—someone who bottles up emotions—that really causes an increased risk of heart disease and possibly cancer,” Katz says.

Along with its stress-busting properties, hearty laughter provides an aerobic workout similar to (if briefer than) that of more intense exercise such as jogging, notes Michael Miller, M.D., of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. As little as 15 minutes of laughter daily may help prevent a heart attack by expanding the lining of blood vessels to improve blood flow, Miller’s research suggests.

2. Bring up Bowser Dog owners 50 and older see their doctors less often, have fewer illnesses, and recover more quickly when they are sick than is the case with their critterless counterparts. And the benefits go beyond what you’d expect from the added exercise of regular walks.

“The simple act of petting an animal has been shown to lower blood pressure by inducing an instant relaxation response,” says Alan Beck, Sc.D., director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond at the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette, Indiana. “And animal owners have a higher one-year survival rate following a heart attack, and have lower cholesterol levels, than those without pets—even when they have the same levels of exercise. Even watching fish has been found to help slow Alzheimer’s deterioration in some patients.” So don’t sweat those vet bills; consider them an investment in your own good health.

3. You snooze…you win As if insomniacs didn’t have enough to worry about: in a 20-year study, older people who tossed and turned for 30 minutes or more at night were twice as likely to die during the study as those who fell asleep soon after hitting the pillow.

“Sleep is a marker of a person’s overall well-being,” notes study lead Mary Amanda Dew, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Poor sleep also increases hunger and impairs metabolism, which by themselves increase the risk of obesity and diabetes.

But restless sleep is very common among older people. After age 55 two out of three adults have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep at least a few nights a week, the National Sleep Foundation reports. So how do you cope?

“Try sprinkling your just-washed pillowcases and bedding sheets with lavender water,” suggests Katz. “It’s one of several aromas that might promote sleep.” Other sleep-inducing scents include vanilla and green apple. Another option, says Alan R. Hirsch, M.D., director of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, is a pre-bedtime snack of walnuts, milk, or yogurt, which are rich in the amino acid tryptophan, a natural sleep inducer. (Choose vanilla-flavored yogurt and you get the added advantage of its scent.)

To maximize your shuteye, consider going to bed 30 minutes later than usual. “If you make yourself stay up a little longer, it increases your body’s need for sleep and you could fall asleep easier,” Dew says.

4. Read a book The more education you have, the healthier you are likely to be, studies show. And it’s not just because people with college degrees tend to have more money, which means more access to doctors and medicine. Higher education is also linked to an ability to delay gratification, which means a reduced involvement with smoking and other risky behaviors.

Do you have to head to college to reap the health rewards of education? Not necessarily, according to health economist Michael Grossman, Ph.D., of the City University of New York. “It’s also a matter of acting and thinking like an educated person,” he says. “Read more. Follow current events. Do other things to keep your mind as sharp as possible.”

.

5. Read a label To manage your weight—and avoid scores of diseases caused by or worsened by obesity—pay attention to the ingredients in the prepared foods you eat. The fewer ingredients, experts say, the better. “Many processed foods actually use salt to conceal sugar and artificial flavors, and use sugar to conceal salt and other flavors,” says Katz, who also wrote The Flavor Point Diet: The Delicious, Breakthrough Plan to Turn Off Your Hunger and Lose the Weight for Good (Rodale, 2005). “This explains why many popular pasta sauces found in any supermarket have more sugar calorie-for-calorie than ice-cream topping and why many cereals have more salt than potato chips.”

Different flavor categories stimulate different brain cells: sweet flavors will stimulate cells in one portion of the brain; salty flavors, in another; and sour flavors, in yet another. The more cell areas in the brain stimulated in the same meal, the more food you need to eat to feel full. (That’s why you can be full of meat and potatoes but somehow still have room for dessert.) But healthy doesn’t mean bland. Filling your belly with “whole” foods such as unprocessed fruits, vegetables, and grains instead of overly processed foods tricks appetite-controlling brain cells into feeling fuller faster on less food, Katz says.

6. Gaze at your navel Older adults who regularly practice tai chi, a “soft style” Chinese martial art best known for improving flexibility and mood, are more resistant than their peers are to shingles, a painful reactivation of the chickenpox virus, according to a study headed by Irwin. “Other studies find that practicing meditation can improve immunity against influenza,” he adds. Influenza, along with pneumonia, is the eighth-leading cause of death. Researchers are exploring yoga, too, as a way to prevent fatigue and specific diseases.

The reason: These practices strengthen memory T cells, the white blood cells that fight recurrences of previously experienced infections, including some that can lie dormant for decades. You lose memory T cells as you age, but boosting their function can spare you a nasty return visit from an old foe.
Romance / Attract More Men By Doing These Three Things: by kboy3(m): 10:38am On Nov 03, 2008
Are you having a bit of a time getting men to ask you out? Are you having a bit of a time JUST getting them to notice you?! Ouch!

As surprising as this may sound, EVEN attractive women with a body to match has problems trying to get men to approach them for a date.

Ok, now that is odd!

Actually, it isn't all that hard to put them on your trail.

Do these three things, and you'll definitely notice something different, they'll be following you! Well, hopefully.

ONE:

First off, wear men's most favorite perfumes, which are Candies and White Diamond. Of course there are others, but these two brands seems to be the most popular.

If you are an older woman who is, say, in her forties, yes, Candies is marketed for the younger generation, but men could care less! They love the hint of its sweet scent.

ALWAYS smell nice, even if you are going out for a quick errand!

TWO:

Wear attractive clothes men like. Sundresses, short skirts, tank tops in pretty, solid colors, khakis with a shirt that is in a nice solid bright blue color,

Don't wear any dull or odd-looking colors, like black, brown, dull gray, green,

Just like the perfume, wear these attractive clothes EVERY TIME you go out! Even if it is JUST a quick errand.

Hey, you never know when that right guy will come along, so why not always be prepared to grab his attention?

ALWAYS PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD!

If you think you aren't that attractive, wearing nice-looking, sexy clothes will help. Don't you think the same can be said for the men? Well, ok, then.

THREE:

And this is the most important!

Men can't read your minds. So, if you are thinking to yourself, "God, I wish he'd come over here to say hello to me." then you need to say it with your eyes. In addition, many people are on the go and they have their minds elsewhere, so you need to sort of slap these guys upside their head.

Yea, yeah, I know, men are always thinking about women, but you'd be surprised that some don't, and if that particular guy you're looking at is one of them, well, you need to make the move.

With every guy you find attractive, position yourself to where you can walk right by him, then get ready to smile and give him that look if he looks at you. If he does, say with your eyes, "Hi, I'm interested in you. Ask me out." You know the look. After doing that, look down and to the side in a shy manner, and then quickly look back at him again, and then back down again. (If you don't know how to do the look, practice it. It ain't hard to do! Geez!)

Immediately look behind you, in case he looks back at you. If he does, give him that same look again, but this time don't look down, just turn your head and keep walking. Looking down for the third time is too much.

It doesn't matter if you aren't shy at all. The action will tell him you are interested. Yes, of course you can simply look him straight in the eye, smile, and say hello, but for some reason men react more to the shy look.

If you're bold enough, try walking right smack into him, then excuse yourself, while giving him that look. Be sure to look back at him with that same look, in case he looks back.

Imagine you doing this wherever you go. , The grocery store, the mall, out on the street,

And all you have to do is give them that look. That's it!

Do this with as many men as you can, and you'll find your date card filled until you find that right guy for you!

Ok, I know what many of you are thinking: Look, stupid, I'll just walk up to him and introduce myself.

Well, that's ok for you, and you don't have problems getting dates, but just because you can doesn't mean every other woman can. It takes nerves of steel to walk up to complete strangers out in the street, the mall or in the grocery store and say, "Hi, my name is Mary, and I'd love to have a drink with you."

Many men can't even do this because it is too awkward. Being in a nightclub or bar is one thing, but when it's outside those areas, it's like it becomes a totally different world. Men and women who don't have problems approaching each other in bars and nightclubs suddenly clam up when out in the street, or in the grocery store. They're out of their element. Weird, huh?

Many singles think, Well how would this look, me walking up to a stranger out of the blue like this? What would he/she be thinking of me,

There are a lot of people who just can't be that bold, so, for you women who aren't bold, and you're downright shy in this area, this little look you give him is perfect, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE!

And remember, many of us, men and women, have our minds on other things, so if it's a Tuesday afternoon and you're at the post office during your lunch hour and you see that guy you'd love to meet, you need to get his mind off of work and / or what he needs to do that day, and start focusing it on you!
Romance / Research Proves Break-ups Affect Emotional Stability Of Students by kboy3(m): 3:15pm On Oct 31, 2008
According to a survey on myOC, 42 percent of students believe that they will find a spouse before they graduate from Oklahoma Christian University, yet only a small percentage of students get married between the ages of 18 and 22. Such a statistic begs the question of what happens between the dream and the reality.

Breakups.

Breakups for many students at Oklahoma Christian pose a difficult obstacle for students to overcome during their college years.

“I was an emotional basket case for the first week or so. The littlest things would set me off and make me cry,” junior Amy Gregg said. “I was fortunate enough to go through the break up and recovery process while I was still at home.”

This emotional instability only intensifies while undergoing a break up while at school. With a small campus like Oklahoma Christian University’s, seeing an ex is more likely. Senior Kristen Hicks said being at school made it harder.

“I was definitely more emotional for about the first semester after it happened,” Hicks said.

Senior Nate Oates stated his grades suffered slightly during his break up.

“I had a problem focusing a lot in class. I would wonder what she as doing since I hadn’t talked to her in a long time, and I also wondered if I was making a mistake,” Oates said.

Department Chair of Psychology and Family Studies Ryan Newell said that he saw no correlation between grades and break ups, but did see a decline in attendance.
“Most of us when we find ourselves right after a break up, the last thing we want to do is hang out with the person we just broke up with,” Newell said. “Especially if it’s across the same classroom.”

Hicks revealed her ended relationship in fact helped her grades.

“The break up actually made me work harder, and it ended up being the best semester I had with grades,” Hicks said.

Chelsea Jones, who has not been through a break up while at college, but has watched others, believes that the hardest part is the social life.

“After the break up it’s like they have to rebuild themselves again. Some are so consumed with the relationship that their friendships have suffered,” Jones said. “They have to go back to being okay by themselves, and investing in other things.”

“I think the effect of college students is the same for anyone else who breaks up. People are going to have trouble concentrating, and get distracted and depressed,” Newell said. “The way people respond depends on their relationship.”

Some of the pain from ending a relationship may stem from expectations about love when students first come to college. According to the online version of the College Student Journal, “Young (age 19 and under) undergraduates were significantly more likely to believe in “love at first sight” and “love conquers all” than older (age 20 and older) undergraduates.” (www.findarticles.com)

Students may at first feel disillusioned with their original view of relationships after a breakup.

Another romantic belief is that “love conquers all.” Again, younger students were significantly (p [is less than] .02) more likely than older students to agree that “All problems can be solved if there is enough love.” The percentages were 61 percent versus 43 percent, respectively, of the younger and older respondents who believed that “love conquers all.”

Not only are there differences in how students of different ages view relationships, but also there is a difference between how students of different genders react to breakups.

Newell states that men tend to detach emotionally where women are more likely to share their problems. Other gender differences, according to a College Student Journal poll of undergraduates at a large southeastern university, included men reported having more difficulty than women recovering from a break up.

“Men are cultured to deal with relationships differently,” Newell said. “There are some gender specific reactions, but I don’t think they are tailored to a gender, more as the person has been cultured in that society.”

Regardless of gender, break ups are still difficult to overcome for most. For Johnson, friends were the best remedy.

“My girlfriends really pulled me through this time. They took me out and made me enjoyed everything again,” Johnson said.

Hicks said friends, and also getting a job helped her.

“I got a job to keep myself occupied so I wasn’t just sitting around with nothing to do. It helped for me to keep myself busy and keep my mind off of things,” Hicks said.

The College Student Journal survey also reported that time and new relationships helped students overcome breakups.

“The passage of time and involvement with a new partner were identified as the most helpful factors in getting over a love relationship that ended. While not statistically significant, men more than women reported “a new partner” was more helpful in relationship recovery (34 percent versus 29 percent). Similarly, women more than men reported that “time” was more helpful in relationship recovery (34 percent versus 29 percent).” (http://www.findarticles.com)

According to Oates, break ups don’t have to be a bad thing.

“I needed to re-focus on God. During the time we were broken up, I learned a lot about my faith and how much stronger I should be,” Oates said. “It was a productive breakup for my spiritual life.”
Health / Pregnant Woman Drinking Light Drinking 'no Risk To Baby' ? by kboy3(m): 3:12pm On Oct 31, 2008
Women who drink a small amount of alcohol while pregnant do not increase their child's risk of behavioural problems, a study has suggested.

The University College London team classed "light" drinking as up to two drinks a week throughout pregnancy.

The study of 12,500 three-year-olds even found a lower risk of some problems in children of such drinkers.

But experts were divided over whether the study was reassuring or could lull women into a false sense of security.

Government advice says pregnant women, or those trying to conceive, should avoid drinking alcohol.

But if they do choose to drink, they should drink no more than one or two units of alcohol once or twice a week and should not get drunk.
