The N-Power scheme has announced the commencement of the second phase of its Volunteer Corps Programme.

In a message displayed on its official website, the scheme revealed that there are 300,000 successful applicants.

It wrote on npvn.npower.gov.ng “The Federal Government of Nigeria is pleased to announce the commencement of the second phase of the N-Power Volunteer Corps Programme, involving the selection of 300,000 successful applicants.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria wishes to congratulate all 300,000 successful applicants.

“They are encouraged to take this opportunity seriously by learning the skills that will brighten their future and also serve their communities with commitment and dedication.

“For those who have not been selected at this time, there is a waiting list and subsequent phase(s) will absorb more qualified applicants.

“The selection into the second phase was undertaken in a fair and transparent manner on the following bases:
Npower Teach 170,000 Candidates
Npower Tax 7500 Candidates
Npower Agro 65,000 Cadidates
Npower Health 57,500 Candidates.

“The Federal Government is partnering with all the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory through their Governors and relevant Focal Persons for the National Social Investments Programme.

“As such, the respective list of successful applicants has been shared with the States who are now responsible for deploying successful volunteers to their primary places of assignment from Tuesday, 21st of November 2017.

“The primary places of assignment will be primary schools, primary health care centres and State Agriculture Development Project (ADPs) within the Local Government Centres.

“States are at liberty to publicise the list of successful applicants within their jurisdictions and respective Local Government Councils.

“The engagement date for all successful N-Power Volunteer Corps members will be December 1st 2017. Successful applicants will be notified by SMS and E-mail from Sunday, November 19th 2017.

Some days ago, I overheard a conversation between a man and one of his friends that works in an oil company regarding a letter the friend had purportedly received from the management of his company about an impending downsizing at the company. This friend that works at an oil company needed an advice from the one who happens to be an entrepreneur, on the next stage of his life.

His company had been really nice by even sending letter to their employees in preparation for an impending layoff. This seems to be the norm these past few months post plunging oil prices, the effect which needs no overemphasis here.Why this article has not been written to discuss the cause or solution to the global economic tumult, we cannot ignore the knock on effect of the falling oil prices on other sectors nonetheless.
Some of these companies have been kind of nice to the point of offering their workers the choice of having to take between massive pay cut or face the axe. Whether the workers accepts the pay cut or otherwise, these corporations always have the upper hand in the end. In as much as lots of people have been led to believe that the current economic tumult is only affecting oil companies, it is far from the truth in reality. Many other companies are also being affected by the problems indirectly example companies supplying equipment or offering other professional services to oil companies.

The question that begs an answer is, if you are faced with the scenario of having to choose between outright dismissal or massive pay cut, which would you choose. Why the most likely response might be a massive pay cut, for those who would rather be employed than go start from scratch, the next question will still ask what if it happens again? I can guarantee you that it will happen again and again until the company no longer needs your services. You ask the question, what if I chose dismissal, what will I be doing? I wish I could give straightforward answer, unfortunately it isn’t that simple. It kind of depends on what you can do.

These friends I overheard their conversation couldn’t convince the other friend of what he needs to. This was someone that was taking home a six figure salary but apparently never planned for the rainy days. His vacations were spent shuttling from Holland to Dubai to the Caribbean and back to work. His mouth had become so wide that his friend was hesitant in advising him on what to do.

This is where the next question comes, are you prepared to start afresh? If you are prepared for the rough journey of being an entrepreneur, you need to walk away and become your own boss. However, what I can not guarantee is the fact that you are going to have a smooth ride to the top, that’s absolutely impossible. But you will be happy you took that step towards self dependence. If instead you choose to accept massive pay cut, I can guarantee you that it will happen again, again and again until you are no longer useful to the company. So you make a choice, carefully.

As many people would say, Lucious is nothing but a devil. In fact, I personally said, the devil himself should plan to enrol for advance learning in Lucious’ Academy. But despite his flaws, he has positivity too; he has motivating power; he inspires; he believes everyone has something great within, but too blind to physical things. You maybe frowning, but shareholders are smiling; that’s what matters most in business anyway.

Do you know what this man loves? I mean besides infidelity and confusion? He loves progress, and progress comes from determination, which makes me find this man more thrilling. So have you imagined this type of a man having failure in business? Maybe, or maybe not.
As a businessman, I have always believed in pursuing values, unlimited wants for success, crazy persuasion for excellence. I have always believed if one wants to win, one has to be the shot, because the shot always hit. Just like this man, I don’t believe only in hustlers taking over, but also in setting positive margin by being on top.

Lucious made me realize we have more within than we are revealing:
This spreading attitude is almost with everybody. We are all okay and satisfied with just the good, whereas the best is still somewhere hiding inside of us.
Lucious saw this in Veronica when she was recording “Where Is Love?” He forced her to discover the inner melody that the song really needed. He made her to sing as if she would die the next day, like; that’s the last song she would ever sing. Her soul was forcefully revealed in that song. Thanks to Lucious for that inspiring move.
Sometimes, only what it takes to have more productivity from our employees is just a single push for motivations, making them discover the greatness they never believed in they possess.

Lucious re-explained what determination is:
Lucious narrated things he got involved in to survive while he was still struggle to earn a living in West Philadelphia, during his presentation to the board on taking the company public. His vision kept him alive even while he was losing it to the street. His determination guided his vision so right and that led him straight to empire.
We all in some ways have bad experiences, unexplainable past. Not seeing them as a failure but as the push that we need right now would definitely further improve the strength of our business vision.

High state of mind:
Unlike Lucious, we unconsciously forget the purpose of a life. He believed his purpose in life was something simple, something he could live for every single day and that’s progress. So he challenged everyone around him that in some way has effect on his business to have a purpose for a life, he challenged them to hold themselves for higher standard, he challenged Andrew to realise he was born for a purpose. Lucious push things hard, so everyone around him would have a feeling of being in a race, you either run faster or get outrun.
We all have the capacity to succeed, either we control it ourselves or people control it for us the way we never wanted.
