Four police orderlies of former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, were killed by unidentified gunmen on Monday evening while he escaped by a hair’s breadth in an attack on his convoy.

A source said the incident happened at Oriagu, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state while the erstwhile governor was returning from a visit.

The source, who is close to the former governor narrated that the gunmen made an attempt to block the convoy of the ex-governor but were beaten by the driver of the vehicle conveying Ohakim.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has dared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel him and face the consequences.
Wike threw down the gauntlet while he was flagging off a new road in Rivers State.

Wike said “In 2003 when President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to run for a second tenure―a whole president wanted to run for a second tenure―he knelt down before his vice and said, ‘my vice, please, allow me to run.’[/b]

The political tussle in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state appears steaming more momentum as Wike in a latest revelation says Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of PDP threatened to resign if he won the presidential primary election.

The suit instituted against the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) filed by Hon Cosmos Ndukwe to enforce the party’s zoning and rotatory policy ahead of the 2023 presidential election has been struck out by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Courtn a unanimous judgment on Friday delivered by Justice Adamu Jauro, struck out the suit on the ground of lack of jurisdiction to entertain it.

The former Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Cosmos Ndukwe and a presidential aspirant of the party prayed for an order to compel the court to uphold the zoning and rotatory policy of the party.

Specifically, the Presidential aspirant sought for order of the court to compel PDP to zone the nomination of its presidential candidate to the South East geo-political zone of the country.

The ruling of the national industrial court in the case between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has gotten a new twist as Femi Falana, human rights lawyer and senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says the court does not have jurisdiction to rule on the matter.

Candidreporters.com recalls that ASUU has been on strike for seven months to press home their demand for improved funding for universities, and a review of salaries for lecturers, among other issues, the federal government went to court to challenge the action.

The judge in the NIC,Polycarp Hamman, on Wednesday granted the federal government’s application for an interlocutory injunction to restrain ASUU from continuing with the strike.

The scheduled meeting between the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government has again ended without an agreement.

The striking lecturers had met with the Professor Nimi Briggs Committee on Tuesday at the National University Commission in Abuja with high hopes of resolving the impasse.

Candidreorters.com gathered that a senior member of ASUU, who craved anonymity said that members of the Briggs renegotiation committee did not come with any new offer on the table.

This means the six-month old strike by public university lecturers is set to continue.

Instead, the ASUU source said, the committee plead with the lecturers to suspend the ongoing strike, with promises that their concerns will be included in the 2023 budget.

According to the source, the meeting, which started at about 12pm, lasted for about three hours without any agreement reached.

The Enugu Diocese of the Catholic in Nigeria has released an official statement disassociating itself and condemning the statement credited to Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka.

Recall that candidreporters.com earlier reported that the Enugu Catholic Priest, Rev. Mbaka recently declared that the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi can never be Nigeria’s President.

Mbaka said this during a prayer service on Wednesday at the church in Enugu.

He said it is better to have an old generous man than a young man who does not have the spirit of giving.

Golden Breweries PLC on Tuesday in Umuahia, Abia State protested over seven months unpaid Salaries.

The worker who were seen standing behind the company’s gate refused to go work lamenting how they have been treated badly by the management.


One of the workers who spoke to candidreporters.com said they have been working without given appointment letter for the past three years. That they were only given identify card that has only three months validity period to identify a staff but never called for proper staff documentation.

“As it stands now we don’t have any documentation with the company that shows that we are staff members of Golden Guinea Breweries PLC. A lamenting staff said.

Another staff who also spoke said “some of us have been here for the past four years. They gave us appointment letter in August 2019, they latter withdrew that appointment letter and told us they will give us another one, up till now they haven’t. They have been owning us stipends not salary. They have sacked so many of us and they told us that we can’t do anything. We don’t call it salary because we haven’t been properly documented as a staff.


“Even the stipends they were paying, they told us that they are going to open a pension trust fund for us. We told them this is not the way they do it. Pension are been withdrawn from salaries not from stipends but they refused and insisted that they should and they did it. Up till now we haven’t received any alert from pension board.”

The protesting workers alleged that their money have been diverted for the use on their private business.

“We have been demanding for our stipends but they kept on giving us date that was never realizable.

“So many of our workers are dying because of hunger. We are here to demonstrate our grievances against the management we have here, they have turned the workers we have here to slaves. We are working like elephant and eating like ant.”

The protesting workers pleaded with management to do the right thing so that they can go back to work.

Several efforts made to gain entrance to the facility to speak to any member of the management staff proved abortive as the entrance gate was under lock and key and the protesting workers in chorus “said they are not on sit”.

Abia PDP Chieftain Releases Fresh Bombshell on Governor Ikpeazu Over Annoited Candidate, Vows To Reveal Statement To “Shake The Root Of Abia”, Move To Anchor


Chief Charles Ogbonnaya has, former Abia commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs again openly criticised the administration of governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and his alleged role of causing rancho in the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During a live political radio program on Wednesday on flo-fm 94.9 in Umuahia, Chief Ogbonnaya accused governor Okezie Ikpeazu of anointing a candidate to take over the governorship position of Abia State come 2023 general election under the PDP.

Chief Ogbonnaya popularly known as Evuloguibeku expressed bitterness over the strange zoning formula of the peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the state which was zoned to Abia central and Abia north, first of it's kind in the party.

Chief Ogbonnaya claimed he gave governor Okezie Ikpeazu the platform to become the governor of Abia State.

In his own words: "I took him to the people that made him governor. I made sure of the huge some of money made available to him. I raised the first money, the money he has never seen in his life before, he cannot deny it. The money was raised in porthacourt, I invited him there, he cannot say it is a lie." Chief Ogbonnaya revealed.

Chief Ogbonnaya also stated that the latest zoning arrangement of the party will destroy the party.

Chief Ogbonnaya also faulted the claims that he does not like the Ngwa race in Abia state.

"It is unfortunate for anyone to say I don't like the Ngwa people. I have friends all over the state and including Ngwa land. One is visiting my house today. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is visiting my house today". Chief Ogbonnaya added.

Chief Ogbonnaya also affirmed that there is problem in Abia state and any sincere PDP faithful will attest to that. While also stating that God positioned him as the destiny helper of governor Okezie Ikpeazu. He faulted the governor's neglect of calling the stakeholders of the state before taking his decision on who to anoint as the next governor. He also added that his predecessor, Senator Theodore Orji made consultations during his time.

"The governor is the problem Abia PDP has today. How can he come out to say the governor will come from Isialangwa north? And he mentioned that professor Ikonne, former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University should be the next governor without consultation, without telling anybody. That is the root of the problem". Chief Ogbonnaya added.

Chief Ogbonnaya also said professor Greg Ibe, a faithful of the party who recently bought nomination and expression of interest form to run for 2023 Abia guber race and donated a brand new official bus to the party as well as chairs for the party's secretariat during his declaration has left the party in annoyance due to the believe that he has been shortchanged in their previous agreement, while stating that the latest zoning arrangement of the party will destroy Abia PDP.

"The elders of Ukwalangwa pleaded with Greg Ibe to allow him run the second tenure and we all supported him. Now Greg Ibe has left the party in annoyance. I may also leave the party. The issue is not me or the party but Abia state.

"If the party continue the way they are going, I will leave the party and join APGA. Nobody will hold me. I will use microphone and go around and campaign against the party. I have asked them to do what is right. People keep threatening me but it is none of my business but one more threat, I will open my mouth and say what will shake the root of Abia State. This is the time for people to see reason to do what is right" Chief Ogbonnaya revealed.

He also holds the position that the new "zoning arrangement is for people who want to remain in position and keep sleeping in hotels , likewise people who wants to collect government money for doing nothing.

"If you say you want another Ngwa man to govern Abia, what has Okezie done for Abia?" Chief Ogbonnaya asked.

Chief Ogbonnaya also faulted the administrative ability of professor Uchenna Eleazer Ikonne, the said anointed Candidate of PDP from Ngwa land extraction.
