PoliticsA Rebuttal To Gov. Umahi’s Claims On Ebonyi Workers by kc80(op): 7:51am On May 02, 2023
Nwoba Chika Nwoba ( Abakaliki)

First day of May is a day set aside to celebrate civil servants in Nigeria. It's a day in every year Nigeria's workforce observes a session of recognition and celebration for their sterling services to nationhood and mankind. It's observed in all the states of the country and the FCT. In this year's Workers' Day in Ebonyi State, the outgoing Governor of the state, Engr David Umahi has chronicled what he called his achievements in the civil service system of the state which as usual is an account in falsity.

Engr David Umahi met a well-stocked and structured civil service system in 2015, and upon his installation as Governor, the first dictum he made was that he's not God who promises and delivers completely. This implies that he was duty bound to renege on the promises made to the civil servants when he was campaigning to become Governor of Ebonyi State in 2015. Indeed, without mincing steps, Umahi brought the civil service system to practical and legendary ruination. He immediately polarised the system and created a divisive group within the labour structure and named it "Junior Workers Union" of the NLC, Ebonyi State, a group he regularly deferred to any time he wanted to carry out dastardly actions within the civil service system. He further christened the group, "Akubaraoha Civil Servants". Akubaraoha is his purchased chieftaincy title which he co-opted into politics and leadership of the state. This creation was aimed at rivalling the NLC and create a deluge of praise singers whose stock-in-trade was to antagonise justifiable actions of the mother union, NLC. He also fictionalised the leadership structure of the union, recognising one and chastising the other with threats of salary seizure and to their lives. He moved into the Ebonyi State University and created what he called Divine Mandate Lecturers. Divine Mandate was his 2015 campaign mantra. These lecturers were used to create friction in the system. He also created the Divine Mandate Pastors, a league of greedy and selfish clergymen singing his obdurate praises. Anyone or group of workers or lecturers who refused his overture of joining the translucent group was treated in the likeness of a slave and declared persona-non-grata at their places of work. He extended filthy hands of favoritism to the members of this nasty union just to mock the others opposed to it.

Since 2015 that Umahi assumed office, he has never promoted any civil servant till today. He has never carried out a recruitment exercise into the civil service. He slashed salaries of workers by more than 50%. He refused paying gratuities till today. He paid some varying slavish sums of money to the retired Permanent Secretaries which is against the law. Just in the middle of April, 2023, his minions at the Ebonyi State House of Assembly mustered the courage and compelled him to use the N6 billion the House was going to approve for him and offset backlogs of salaries, pension, gratuities and revitalisation of the civil service system. He's yet to be seen or heard taking any stridal step into implementation of the policy for which the humongous sum was approved by the stuttering House of Assembly. Federal Government gave out money to the Government of Ebonyi State under David Umahi to erect a 5,000 unit housing estate with topnotch facilities characterising it. It's over four years it was approved, yet, nothing is on ground to reflect the large sum of money accrued to this noble project to ease off the accommodation difficulty experienced by workers. Rather than upgrading the workforce structure he met in 2015, he vitiated the progress the preceding administration of which he was Deputy Governor made in entrenching a progressive labour mechanism.

Gov. David Umahi has at several fora pronounced empowerment and agricultural packages for the workers, but reneged after the news of the miragelike magnanimity had made headlines and garnered traction in the media. Gov. Umahi has never done anything known to time and history to better the faltering lots of the civil servants of Ebonyi State, instead, he coerces them into practical politics just to score vainglorious points. Ebonyi civil servants are about the most starved in Nigeria since 2015. He doesn't only starve them, but verbally abuses them openly. In one of the occasions, he announced that his administration would do without the civil servants. Evrryone thought it was a comment induced by intake of narcotic substance, but within little time after, he moved towards the actualisation of the selfishly malignant dictum.

Immediately he was sworn into office in 2015, he dissolved the Permanent Secretaries the outgone government into which he was second citizen recruited. His reason for the dissolution was that the promotion and appointment was to hound his administration by Elechi who didn't support his election as Governor. Just few days back, in April, 2023, he was found doing the same thing he accused his predecessor of doing to hound his administration. He appointed Permanent Secretaries and swore them into office despite the impending expiration of his tenure as Governor. Can we be wrong if we believe that he did that as landmine against his successor, just as he rightly complained about in 2015?

All the claims of giving the civil service a facelift by his administration are nothing short of fiction aimed at hoodwinking the reading and listening public. Gov. Umahi is a proud enemy of the Ebonyi civil servants. He has proven to be one at different, but repeated occasions. His celebration of the civil servants today was a step in widening the scope of his sycophantic administration that is also fraught with system mismanagement, miscarriage of priorities and brazen economic and financial malfeasance. It's public knowledge that in the employ of the Ebonyi State Government under David Umahi, only ......

PoliticsYORUBA FOR JOBS: Seyi Law Expresses Anger Over Brewing Protest by kc80(op): 10:44am On Apr 21, 2023
Comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has expressed anger at the ongoing ‘Yoruba for Yoruba jobs’ protest in Southwest states.

Candidreporters.com gathered that Tonia Somaga, a graduate from Anambra State and a Labour Party, LP, supporter who drives one of the Lagos State blue rails, was called out by some residents, urging the Lagos State government to sack her, following her campaign for Peter Obi.

Reacting to the development in a tweet on Thursday, Seyi Law noted that the female train driver is an opportunity to preach peace and show that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is different.

Sharing a picture of a man with a ‘Yoruba Jobs for Yoruba People’ poster, Seyi Law described the trend as absolute madness, insisting he didn’t support the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to see such a trend.

He wrote: “This is absolute madness. I did not support ASIWAJU to see these things. Are you saying even the companies owned by non-Yoruba should do the same, or just those owned by Yorubas? Either way, this is wrong, so let’s stop promoting rubbish in the name of anger.

“The train girl was an opportunity to preach peace and show we are different. I’m not belittling your anger, but we must learn to compromise for the collective peace we crave. You can respect your tribe without denigrating another. Please, let’s sheath our swords.

The Organisation for Impact and Reform (OFIAR), a non-governmental organisation has alerted the stakeholders of Nigerian government, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary on the dangers of truncating or interfering in the process of the presidential election petition tribunal which would mare the transparency of the tribunal’s process in a bid to unravel the true outcome of the February 25 , 2023 presidential election in the country.

“Come Up With Business Ideas, We Can’t Give Political Appointments To All”- Alex Otti Tell Supporters

Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, has advised his supporters not to expect him to give all of them jobs in his administration.

Instead, Otti has advised those lobbying for political appointments to come up with business ideas he can support.

He said;
“I want to thank all of you my team members. I do not take your sacrifices for granted. I understand that a lot of people are lobbying for appointments, unfortunately, we cannot appoint every body, but I can assure you that government is big enough to empower people and support ideas and businesses, that’s what government does all over the world. The camp of Dr Alex Otti has responded to the Court Exparte Order purported to shut down Abia State Government accounts through the freezing of all its accounts in various financial institutions.

Candidreporters.com recalls that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party Government (PDP) in the state recently suspected that the Labour Party (LP) Abia governor-Elect masterminded the Court Exparte Order.

The camp of Alex Otti has reacted to the suspicion, describing it as, “falsely in a bid to misrepresent him (Alex Otti) and mislead the public”.

The swift response was contained in a press release titled: “Frozen Abia State Bank Accounts: Leave Alex Otti Out Of Your Self-inflicted Problems“, released on Sunday by Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser(Media and Publicity) to
Abia State Governor-Elect. He affirms “that Dr. Alex Otti was not involved, directly or indirectly in freezing the said Abia state government accounts. He also does not know the person or persons behind the action”.

The statement also reads that “the governor-elect will now get involved to get to the root of the matter, since the outcome would affect his administration which takes effect from May 29, 2023”.

He also added that “Abia state government should be bold enough to tell the world that those they entered into fraudulent contract with and tried to shortchange before leaving office were responsible for the litigation”.

CrimeNnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Writes British High Commissioner To Nigeria, Narrates Ordea by kc80(op): 9:05am On Mar 28, 2023
Bruce Fein, Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer based in Washington DC has congratulated Honorable Dr. Richard Montgomery on his new appointment as the British High Commissioner to Nigeria.

The United Kingdom government announced his appointment in a statement on Tuesday March 7.

The high commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a commonwealth nation.

They are responsible for the direction and work of the consulate, including political relations, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.

Montgomery succeeds Catriona Laing who has been been the UK’s representative in Nigeria since 2018.

The congratulatory message was made available to newsmen by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor Esq. legal counsel to Kanu.

Also in the letter, Bruce expressed dissatisfaction on the continuous detention of his Kanu while also frowning on the British role in Nigeria’s political system and developmental pace.

Read full letter below 👇

Re: Nnamdi Kanu-Biafra sovereignty

Dear Dr. Montgomery:

I am Nnamdi Kanu’s international lawyer and spokesman.

Congratulations on your appointment.

Nigeria has been challenged as a nation since independence from involuntary British colonial rule in 1960. The United Kingdom has sought to make partial amends for participating in the racist Scramble for Africa by returning looted Benin City artefacts stolen by marauding British soldiers.

But the British stole something far more valuable than artworks in Nigeria. The United Kingdom stole the right to self-determination and government by the consent of the governed in herding Biafrans at gunpoint in 1914 under a single sovereign umbrella pursuant to a cynical divide-and-conquer colonial policy. The American Revolution of 1776 carved a universal right to self-determination by distinct peoples into marble.

Igbos, Hausa-Fulani, and Yorubas were distinct peoples with incompatible religions, histories, traditions, cultures, values, and governing structures. No African was given a voice in the boundaries of Nigeria. When Britain hastily decamped in 1960, the merciless 1967-1970 genocide of Biafrans at the hands of the Nigerian government assisted by the UK was as foreseeable as the rising and setting of the sun.

Nnamdi Kanu is a United Kingdom citizen. He is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Its mission is to secure the right to self-determination for 70 million Biafrans, which the British filched more than a century ago, through peaceful avenues of redress. The Fulani-controlled, radical Muslim government of Nigeria attempted to assassinate Mr. Kanu in his home in 2017 for his peaceful advocacy of self-determination—a fundamental human right under international human rights laws. Nigerian courts have ordered the government of Nigeria to pay reparations to Mr. Kanu for its attempted assassination.

In June 2021, Nigeria conspired with Kenya to kidnap and torture Mr. Kanu in Nairobi followed by his extraordinary rendition to Abuja. There, Mr. Kanu has been detained indefinitely in solitary confinement without a trial by the Nigerian government on concocted charges of treason.

On July 20, 2022, the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention issued an Opinion finding Mr. Kanu’s detention violated sixteen (16) international human rights covenants. The Working Group ordered his “immediate and unconditional” release and payment of reparations. The Government of Nigeria remains in contempt of the Working Group’s order more than eight months after its issuance.
