gidgiddy: Nigeria used to have four Regions, all four Regions controlling their resources. This practice continued until Gowon came in and abolished all 4 Regions in May 1967. Gowon also enacted Decree 15 that ended resource control. However, the sentence that brought Regionalism to an end in Decree 14 reads as follows
THE FEDERAL MILITARY GOVERNMENT therefore hereby decrees as follows-
1. There shall, on the commencement of this Decree, be created out of the Regions, States to be known by the names in column 1
And just like that, the 4 Regions were abolished, 12 States were created, and Regionalism disappeared
Don't he disingenuous, unitary system introduced by ironsi nullified regionalism. The decree by Gowon was against attempt by ibos to overrun Nigeria

The worst mistake any man will make in a life time.
A recent investigation into the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, who was known as Mohbad, gives some clues about why he may have died.
The report says they’re not exactly sure what caused his death, but they think drugs might have played a part, based on tests done after he died.
Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) did the examination. They took samples from his stomach, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung to check for any signs of drugs.
According to TheCable, the doctors also found an injury on Mohbad’s right arm, and his body was starting to decay when they looked at it.
Overall, though, they didn’t find any big problems that could explain why he passed away.”
The toxicology “revealed the positive finding of diphenhydramine, an anti-histamine; however, this concentration was not in a fatal or lethal range”.
The report reads: “Anti-histamines are medicines used to treat symptoms of allergies. They are also used to treat a variety of other conditions such as stomach problems, colds, and anxiety, among others.”
Each state should not place their budget for workers on fg minimum wage then. You can not post budget on fg minimum wage and pay below that. That's fraud
GistMedia0: A fire destroyed a building that housed a church in Rumuosi yesterday, leaving residents in shock. Instead of calling the fire service, two women stood outside praying intensely for the fire to stop.
The women, who were seen with their hands raised and their faces soaked in tears, are believed to be members of the church. They continue to pray and chant, hoping for a miraculous intervention to save their place of worship.
Some admire the women's faith, while others believe practical action was needed alongside prayers. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Empiree: In 2024 we still have myopic fellow like you speak like this.
Is it not clear now that was a big lie considering the fact that Israel can not defeat Gaza in 8 months. Boy, wake up from your slumber. And it is not only Israel fighting Gaza. It is Israel and superpowers and they still can not crush Gaza forces.
Really. I wish Israel was as brutal as hamas were on oct 7, by now there would be no Gaza not to even talk of human residents anymore. Trust me.
shogsman: Brainwashed goat, so over 11,000 Palestinians arrested in their very own home and land for trespassing is what you call lawfully convicted felons, na people like you no make me too dey pity when government destroy una life here for naija cos you're vile
I wish there is opportunity to match power in Nigeria you will understand that you are mostly cowardly terrorist sympathizers.
GistMedia0: Prominent Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu, has responded defiantly to those calling for her arrest after she refused to stand during the recitation of the reintroduced national anthem.
In a bold statement, Yesufu dared anyone to arrest her for exercising her right to protest, saying: "I dare anyone to arrest me for sitting down while the new national anthem is being played or recited."
Yesufu's refusal to stand during the national anthem has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some calling for her arrest and others hailing her as a hero for standing up for her beliefs.
The reintroduced national anthem has been a topic of controversy in Nigeria, with some citizens welcoming the change and others expressing concerns over its implications.
God1000: I'm not the spokesperson for Hamas, but I read it in the news yesterday that Hamas has welcomed the new ceasefire deal announced by Joe Biden, that deal is in jeopardy right now because Israeli government is saying another thing
Israel wants all hostage released unconditionally. Anything else is spooky.
God1000: All life is precious man, I want the remaining hostages to be released, but netanyahu isn't allowing that to happen.
He doesn't want any ceasefire agreement with Hamas that will pave the way for the release of israelis in captivity, he also doesn't want any two-state solution to Israel Palestine conflict.
He's more interested in his political career.
Why are you being blatantly dishonest? Has hamas agreed to release all the hostages? They want prisoner exchange to retrieve lawfully convicted felons☹️
God1000: 90% of countries against Israel are Muslims according to you.
The same Arab countries that have done absolutely nothing since the start of this conflict, I mean countries like Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, irag etc, they are just watching things, except turkey and Iran.
Meanwhile in far away Europe, countries like Norway, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia have gone as far as recognizing the state of Palestine.
Canada has also suspended arms sales to Israel, South Africa, Russia and china have criticized Israel harshly
Have you heard of the Arab war against Israel? Practically all of Muslim countries desperately wish Israel was annihilated. But guess what, Israel came out victorious.
God1000: It won't change much but it will give the rest of the world something to pause and think about, a small nation with the courage of a super power. A nation that felt the suffering and the helplessness of a powerless people far away.
