The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State Chapter, having deliberated extensively at its State Caucus meeting held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Umuahia on vital issues affecting the party's stability and future, has issued a critical resolution concerning the conduct of one of its key members. This position was contained in a press statement issued by Barr. Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, the APGA Abia State Publicity Secretary.
The party leadership stated that it is fully aware of the persistent rumors circulating regarding Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial Zone, and his alleged defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The Caucus noted that these speculations gained traction following a town hall meeting convened by Senator Abaribe on August 18, 2025, at the NOBIK Event Centre in Aba, where he addressed constituents under the ambiguous theme of a "coalition."
Furthermore, the party observed that the initial meeting evolved into a second gathering on August 22, 2025, which was also anchored by Senator Abaribe. During this event, he was seen to be openly and overtly promoting the ADC, an action the party views as directly undermining APGA, the platform upon which he was elected to the National Assembly.
The Caucus highlighted a definitive confirmation of Senator Abaribe's alleged anti-party stance, citing a public declaration made by the Abia State Secretary of the ADC during a Love F.M radio program, "Open Parliament," on September 18, 2025. The ADC official stated unequivocally that Senator Abaribe is not only a card-carrying member of the ADC but also serves as the party's leader in Abia State—a claim the Senator has, to date, not publicly refuted.
It was also placed on record that the APGA leadership in Abia State had previously extended an olive branch to Senator Abaribe, inviting him to a dialogue to discuss pertinent party matters. The party expressed deep disappointment that the Senator intentionally disregarded this invitation, an act perceived as a disrespect to the party’s authority and structure.
The party leadership views these alleged activities as a series of compromising actions designed to vilify, ridicule, and bring APGA into public disrepute. Despite these provocations, APGA affirmed that it has handled the matter with maturity and restraint to avoid internal rancor and public disquiet.
Based on these observations, the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Abia State hereby resolved that it is a violation of Nigerian electoral laws and the APGA Constitution for an individual to hold concurrent membership in two different political parties. Therefore, Senator Abaribe cannot legitimately belong to both APGA and the ADC.
The party further resolved that Senator Abaribe's public hobnobbing with the ADC, while holding a mandate bestowed by APGA, constitutes a gross violation of the party's constitution and its core principles. As a law-abiding institution, APGA affirmed its commitment to fair hearing and will afford Senator Abaribe a reasonable opportunity to defend himself and clear his name.
Consequently, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is hereby given a 24-hour ultimatum, effective from the date and time of this release, to personally and publicly refute the allegations of his membership in the ADC. This denial must explicitly address the statements made on Love F.M and be disseminated across both print and electronic media platforms. Failure to comply will result in prompt disciplinary actions being taken against him in accordance with the APGA Constitution.
This press statement serves as the official and adequate notice to Senator Abaribe of the party's decision. The APGA Abia State Chapter remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting the party's ideals and strengthening its structures in preparation for the 2027 general elections, without compromising its integrity.

I watch one of the state chairman when he said about twenty of them are with the APC but seek for political recognization of their block. If out of 36 state chairman and 20 are loyal to the party, why make it look as if they are all with Atiku. Atiku don't have what it takes to inherit buhari structure cos as a custom boss and later vice president, he didn't do things to the north unlike buhari who favours his people with various positions held. Tinubu will still harvest alot of vote from the north.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area 5 Command at Ibeto Seaport and Terminal, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has recorded an impressive revenue generation of ₦4.2 billion in less than three months of operations.

The achievement, announced by Comptroller U.M. Abubakar, pioneer Area Controller of the command, has been widely applauded by stakeholders for boosting trade facilitation, blocking revenue leakages, and laying a solid foundation for the new command.

A Milestone in Revenue Generation

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Comptroller Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for appointing her to the historic role.

She revealed that operations officially commenced on July 3, 2025, when the first SGD was captured. Since then, cargo throughput and revenue collection have grown steadily:

July 2025: ₦1,370,906,227.72 (DN ₦1,027,001.18)

August 2025: ₦1,953,127,882.04 (DN ₦35,241,583.18) – a 42.5% increase from July

September 1–12, 2025: ₦859,879,048.30 (DN ₦21,618,105.03)

Overall, from July 3 to September 9, 2025, the command generated ₦4,241,799,847.45.

“This remarkable growth underscores the huge potential of Ibeto Command and the commitment of all stakeholders,” Abubakar said.

Overcoming Initial Challenges

The Area Controller explained that setting up the new command came with hurdles such as infrastructure gaps, legacy overlaps with Area I Command, and welfare issues for officers.

“But with determination and the CGC’s policy thrusts of Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation, we turned obstacles into stepping stones,” she stated.

Stakeholders Laud Comptroller Abubakar

Stakeholders, including clearing and forwarding associations, praised the controller’s open-door policy and engagement style.

Chief Maduakor Chinonso, speaking on behalf of stakeholders, described her as “a mother to agents” and encouraged members to make Ibeto Seaport and Terminal a one-stop hub for shipping and clearing services.

The Area Controller also commended Chief Cletus Ibeto, Chairman of Ibeto Group, for providing vital support, including accommodation and welfare for officers during the command’s critical take-off phase.

Nigeria Customs’ Commitment to National Growth

Reaffirming the service’s role, Comptroller Abubakar said:

“I reaffirm that Customs remains committed to facilitating trade, ensuring compliance, and contributing to national revenue and development.”

She added that her greatest fulfilment will be leaving behind a strong foundation for her successors to build upon.
