Hi good morning , can anyone please help with a sample of their Statement of Purpose and CV ?

Thanks.

Hi , Today made it 2 weeks since I joined this Thread And so far it's been Awesome , I have been able to learn about things that I didn't know before , I want to say a big Thank you to everyone. Your Questions and Answers , contributions and everything .

That being said , I'm still on the Journey to getting information and getting ready , It's a D.I.Y thing for me .

Please ,

1.Can anyone be kind enough to help with a sample of Statement of Purpose And CV , I'm going to go through them and use them as a guide while I prepare mine. Here is my email (agbonifokelly@gmail.com)

2. How will I be able to pay for my Application fees ? I understand our Naira Debit card doesn't work ?

3. I have a Joint and a Fixed Deposit Account ( They're together) With my Father , Inside the account contains all the money I need to show for POF , pay for my Full year tuition fee and etc .

The fixed Deposit contract with the Bank expires later in February 2023 , After February I'll then be able to have 100 Percent acess to the fund. I'm rooting to be part of the intake for the fall Entry of 2023.

I understand I can't use the Fixed Deposit Account for my student visa Application but I have a Question. When the contracts Expires in February 2023 , Can I push the money Into my own Personal Account , Then use the money as POF . I UNDERSTAND it will pop up as Lump-sum , but can I use the LOE to Explain How come the Lump-sum ? (This should include where the money came from by providing F.D documents to show that all these time the money has been in a fixed deposit Account that I opened with my Father )

Or Simply,

When it expires in February 2023 , Should I just remove my Dad's name from the Account , Then show document to proof that my Dad doesn't have access to the account Anymore.

N.B → I'm a fresh Graduate with No work experience

Please I'll really Appreciate the Response

2022 or 2023 ?

Sure, your GIC account, your school fees payment confirmation receipts are proof that you can support your self so you must tender them. I will also advise you attach your personal Account in Naira so you can also show that you have an active account in your home country, this could also show home ties if you get what I mean especially if your job or business is part of your home ties.

Do not leave any stone unturned, package an application that will look impossible to refuse.

Good luck
Hi Johnstan , Talking about the GIC account , What about if one eventually gets refused of the visa . Can one Gets one money back from the GIC ? I was thinking of using the GIC method, Putting about $ 15k with the GIC , Paying tuition fee for the 1 or the 2 years program , Submitting Home ties like Cars and landed Property in my Name . If I do all these then I don't have to show Any statement of account for Proof of funds Right ?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by KellyTech007: 11:46am On Aug 21, 2022
johnstan:
POF is only required for student visa application not school admission. Be careful with applying with a fixed deposit account as IRCC would assume the funds are there but not might not be readily available for you to access, some people here have been denied visa with this reason.

If you will liquidate the deposit before your visa app that's fine, however, if it would still be fixed I'll suggest you liquidate it and allow it be visible in the account to avoid the Statement I mentioned above.

It's still up to you at the end, make your choice and fire.

Good luck.
Hi Johnstan, Thanks for your Response

I'll pay heed to your advice and yes the fixed Deposit will be liquidated before my Application. Since the Fixed Deposit Agreement Expires later in FEBRUARY 2023 Then I look forward to starting my Application later that same February or march Depend on when I get Acceptance Letter from the school.

But Now my Question is

1. When I start my Application later in February/March , definitely I'll be required to upload Statement of Account of at least 4-6 months . can I still go ahead to upload the Statement of Account ? Knowin fully well that all these time the money has been in F.D , And how F.D account work is that at the beginning of the Contract , the money leaves the Account then comes back with it profit at the end of the agreement or contract and for me that will happen later in February 2023 .

I'll Appreciate your Response. Thanks

Anyone can Respond to this too. I'm trying to get all information as much as I can so I don't get stranded later.

Uzoamaka123:
Yes this is possible since it’s matures February 2023 and your resumption date is September 2023.

But I’ll advise you to Atleast have some little balance like 3-5m in your dads normal account as well, not just all your money being fixed.
Thanks for your Response. I'm actually looking at the PERIOD since we're to upload a bank Statement of at least 4 months or maybe 6 months

Let's take for instance I start applying for admission Now for Fall Entry 2023 , then I get the Admission or acceptance letter later in January/February 2023 . Then the next thing will be processing my Application for the student Visa and at the point of submitting my Application I have to upload Proof of fund (Statement of Account) and etc . Is it ideal to go ahead and upload my bank statement of at least 4-6months , Will that work ? Since the account is a fixed deposit Account and has no inflow and outflow of Transactions. Hope you understand ?

Also you said something about keeping 3-4m in my Dad's Account , Why do you suggest that ?

Thanks

I'm sorry for many Questions I'm just trying to prepare ahead and I'm doing it Myself.

Thanks Also I'll Appreciate anyone's Response with answers that can guide me

Hi NL , Please I have another Question. At what point does one has to make plans to sending the official Transcript to the school ( Undergraduate Transcript) ?

Also , someone said at the point of Applying for admission that it's okay to use your Student copy Transcript , can someone please help confirm ?

My current situation → I'll like to be part of the Fall Entry 2023 but I'm yet to have my Student copy Transcript and official one ( I'm working on it already)

I'll wait for responses

Thanks

Hi NL.

Please I need help to clarify something , Although I asked this before but I didn't get any Response.

Concerning POF , I have a fixed deposit Account (Joint account in my Name and Dad's Name) that will get matured later February 2023. I plan on Applying Now for an admission for the Fall Entry 2023.

Please , Is it possible to use the Fixed Deposit Account for my POF (Statement of account) ? I have the certificate of Agreement with the Bank. I'm sure if I'm to print a statement of Account for the bank later in February it will clearly state the Fixed Deposit Agreement between My dad, me and the bank . Actually the money was kept in the fixed Deposit Account for my Canada Journey. Please can the Gurus Advise me on this so I plan Ahead ?

N.B → The amount in the F.D is more than enough for my POF , Payment of my School fees and etc.

Also

I'm a fresh Graduate (2021) currently serving (NYSC) so no major work experience .

Thanks.

*The Landing Gist*

Nice to be here! From the beginning of the journey till I landed in Saskatchewan, Ca. To God be the Glory.

The journey from Nigeria to Cairo was a smooth one, the only itch I have was the internet connection at the Cairo Airport. I got to know that you have access to free 30mins of internet access, all you need to do is to log in with your MTN number but must start with 0023480xxxxxxx, you will then receive a code on the said number. Most time, it may take forever to receive the code.

Try and get a smaller denomination of dollars if you wish to buy anything in Cairo Airport, no change at all.

From Cairo to Toronto
The journey of 11hr45mins started at about 3 am Cairo time, it was a long journey for me and my family being first-time travelers! They served us well, I requested more food anyway. It was a nice experience indeed.

We landed at the Toronto airport, and boarded a flight to Saskatoon, another 3hrs50mins, my buttocks pain ooo. I tried to change $200 USD to CAD in Toronto, the woman scammed me oo. She gave me 212.75 CAD for the 200 USD I gave her. Instead of 249 CAD. Thank God I didn't change all my money through her.

I got my Study permit and my wife got her OWP, my baby got her visitor permit. The immigration officer only asked me for my enrollment letter. We landed in Saskatoon, lovely environment cool and calm.
On arrival at the Saskatoon airport, my supervisor was already waiting to receive us! It was a memorable moment, which can never be erased.

On Monday!

We went for our SIN numbers enrollment and Bank account opening at Royal Bank of Canada, I deposits all the USD I bought from Nigeria, I got a good conversion rate, 1 USD =1.285CAD. We enrolled for our health card.

Tuesday
Went to my faculty, they have already arranged my office with all the necessary gadgets, wow! I felt elated. I got to my research laboratory, I was speechless, everything is at it's best.

Wednesday
Went for shopping and get some foodstuffs and others! What a nice experience. Above all, we enjoyed every part of the journey to the land of Canada.

Documents I used during the journey

1. International passport
2. Letter of introduction (they don't ask me anyway)
3. Covid-19 vaccine card was only asked in Nigeria Airport
4. Arrival Can was asked at the Toronto airport

I pray for everyone waiting for this testimony that your testimony will never elude you. You will surely testify.

If you are in Saskatoon or coming to the University of Saskatchewan, let's connect abeg.

To God be the glory.
Congratulations my leader. Please I have a Question for you . I went through some a few of your comments here on NL. I saw one part where you said this (I have secured a fully funded program at the USASK, 38,000CAD for the duration of 2yrs. My tuition fee is 8,095 CAD/yr) . Please how were you able to secure the fully funded Program? Also you said something about your faculty already prepared your office. Why are you in Saskatoon sir ? Lol funny Question. Are you there for your Master's or something else ? I'll wait for your Response. Thanks

Pgwp is what enables you to stay back after grad and work, it's usually 1 - 3 yrs depending on your length of program (1 yr prog - 1 yr pgwp, 2 yrs prog and above - 2-3yrs pgwp).

With that you can apply for EE and earn more points as a graduate from a Canadian institution with a Canadian work experience.

Before you apply to any school ensure its a DLI and the program is a mini of 8months to qualify for PGwp.

Good luck.
Now I understand , Thanks so much for your Response

johnstan:
Your last statement is hilarious.

To stand a chance, you're to apply within your area of study or area of working experience.

You can switch careers, however, you will be saddled with the responsibility to explain your decision convincingly enough to the VOs when you apply for your study permit.

For schools, simply Google for Canada DLI colleges/universities and make your choice in terms of the schools tuition costs, tuition initial deposits, deferral/withdrawal policies. You can return and ask specific questions for guidance.

Also note that you need to study for at least 8 months to be eligible for PGwp.

Good luck.
Hi , I'm new here trying to get information . In the Above answer that you gave you said something about One studying for at least 8 months to be eligible for Post Graduate Work Permit. If you don't mind ,Can you please throw more light on this ?

Thanks.

Hi,
For POF for canada the funds need to be in an account readily available to you not FD. So I will advise you liquidate in an account and work towards keeping it for at least 4 months to avoid issues with lump sum also remember to use Mybankstatement (MBS) which is an electronic bank statement sent directly to the embassy when applying.

Also you are on track with the home ties, you can also add family and try to get photos and ID documents to show relationship when applying and your business should be included that is very important as you need to state that the proposed study will be useful to you on your return. This Canada people own is that even if they know you will not come back but they want you to show strong evidence that you are going to study a course that you will add value to you on your return back after your studies.

Hope you gerit?
Thanks for your Response @Ibaka

Mehnnnn You've saved me a lot of stress by providing that link that will help me make a course choice for Ms program . I really Appreciate Ibaka.

Talking about the Proof of fund in a fixed Deposit Account . Based on signed agreement between me and the bank, The maturity period will be in February 2023 then it will be Iiquidated . The fixed deposit Account is in my Name and has my Information, it's actually an amount of money that I kept for my Canada Study Journey.

You said something about me liquidating the supposed money in the FD and keeping it for at least 4 months to avoid issues with lump sum . Now my situation is like this , I plan on applying for admission Now →→ for the Fall Entry 2023. Also Later in February next year 2023 the Fixed Deposit Agreement will be complete and Account open for access of the funds , Can I Just go ahead and just use the Account (Statement of Account) since it's in my name instead of moving the funds Around ?

Also ,

Talking about the Home ties , I made mention of me having some landed Properties in my name worth around 8-10m which said I was on the right track. Then you went further to state that I should provide my business too , but the thing is that I just graduated last year , I have no running Business. My assets especially the one in my Fixed Deposit account was gotten after the sale of Family landed Properties then that was when I decided to put the money into a fixed account pending when I need it. I hope you understand sir . So at this Point what would you you advice me to start making Preparations for ? Will I be asked to Provide Evidence of How I got the Proof of funds ?

I know it's a long notes from me , I'm so sorry about that I'm just trying to be explicit. I'll look forward to your Response . Anyone can help in responding too , I'll really Appreciate . It's my first time making an Attempt so I'm trying as much as possible to get the right Information so as to get enlightened .

Thanks Everyone ,

Hi NL Family , Please I need help as it concerns the type of course to study . I graduated last year with a B.sc in Library and Information Science Second Class Upper.

Someone Adviced that since I'm a fresher sort of and with little or no work Experience then it's better I go for a course that is related to what I studied in my Undergraduate.

Please can anyone help me out here ?

I understand that no one is under any obligation to give me a response but I'll be Patient . Thanks

Hello Kelly,

You are welcome .

To answer your questions,I’ll explain the little I know and have learnt from the group.

1) every school has their way of processing transcripts this period.
Usually, for most schools in Canada , what is required is a student copy of your transcript then after you’re admitted, you’ll be required to send the original copy.

It’ll be good to search for schools that accept this so that you won’t have to waste money to apply for transcripts to different school. ( most Nigerian schools require 10k thereabout to process transcript and it’ll be sent to only 1 school, sending to multiple schools might require extra charge) . lol that’s how unilag does theirs sha . So I’ll be better you apply with a student copy first.

As regards ASUU strike, you’ll need to find out from your school because most schools now process transcripts on the low.
Eg unilag does it on Tuesday!

2) I don’t think application for September 2023 is out. It is usually open October. But you can check schools and you’ll see the date application opens for that specific intake.

3) You need to check for the kind of program you will want to do .
Route your google search to things like “ schools that offer …….. program in Canada.
“top 10 affordable schools in Canada that offer …… program for September intake.

4) Not necessarily. It’s either it relates to your undergrad studies or your work experience.
But since you said you’re a recent graduate , I think you should do something related to your under grad studies since you don’t have work experience.

I hope I’ve been able to answer some of your questions.

Have a great one
2)
Thanks @Uzoamaka123 for your Response and yes you've been able to answer some of my Questions,
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by KellyTech007: 2:51pm On Aug 16, 2022
ibaka:
Hi,

I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge but others can please contribute and correct me if I am wrong.

1) You need your transcript to apply period. Find a way to reach out to the school to send a copy to you (unofficial copy).

2) You need to apply now as you need between 1 to 6 months or even more to secure admission and try to apply to more than 1 school. Visa processing also takes between 20 days (for NSE) and at least 3 months for normal processing. We have seen applications extending beyond 3 months to 12 months max.

3) start with applyboard.com go to students tab and search, ensure your choice of course matches your bsc and pursue a masters if your GPA is above 70% (2.2).

Also begin to work on your POF ( proof of funds) and home ties being a young single guy.

Google masters in canada and a lot of options will come up, bottom line do your research and you can drop your telegram user name( not your phone number o) so you can be added to a canada study group.
Thanks so much @Ibaka Please talking about the proof of fund , Please can you guide me on this ? What am I supposed to Prepare or do ahead because as it stands the amount of money set aside for my POF , school fees and other related financial expenses is actually in a fixed deposit Account . Talking about the Home ties , I googled on it to get better understanding. I have some landed Properties in my Name with a worth of around 8-10m, Would that boost my chances as it concerns POF and Home ties?

I understand U.K method of POF is very Different from Canada , My initial plan was U.K but I had to change for Canada .

I'll be patient for your Response , Thanks

Anyone can help by responding, I'll really Appreciate. I'm still new in this but I believe this thread will help me .
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by KellyTech007:
Hi everyone , I'm happy to be part of this Family . Yesterday I had to register here on Nairaland so I can always post my Question for the great Family Guidance. I have taken it upon myself to Process My traveling to Canada Myself instead of depending on a Travel Agent.

I'll be going back to previous Thread Parts of this topic so I can read People's steps , testimonies and use them as a guide. I know it's going to take a lot of time as there are a lot of things to read about but it will all be worth it .

It's my first time and my first attempt, and yes I'm ready especially as it concerns Finances .

I plan on being part of the intake in September 2023 . Before I used to think oh since my target is around September 2023 so I can just wait till next year before I start processing Omo ! I was wrong and I thank God I found this thread .

Please it's my first time , alot of the things I have seen so far are mostly about the Visa Application which will be the latter for me after getting an acceptance letter but please I have some Questions to ask I'll be very grateful if anyone can come to my aid.

1. PLEASE How do I go about my transcript , I have seen transcript is one core documents one need at the preliminary stage. I graduated last year , Right now I'm currently doing my Service here in Abuja. Someone was telling me about my school here in Nigeria making arrangement for my transcript to be sent out but with this current ASUU strike , What can I do ?

2. At this point since I'm rooting to be part of the September 2023 intake , Does that mean I can Start applying to various schools now ? I thought Oh if anyone is applying right now to schools then it should be because they want to be part of the January intake that means I have to wait but I'm wrong , because seeing how people waited for months and months to get their Visa approved and etc , it obviously show they started preparing even a year before . Does that mean I can start applying to schools Now to be part of their September 2023 intake ?

3.If my Number 2 answer is Yes , Please can you guide me on how to go about my Application and how to know schools that are open to September 2023 ?

4. Please does my Undergraduate course has to be related to the course I intend studying for my Master's in Canada ? Because I have been to a lot of these school site and I see things like one's choice of picking a graduate course should relate to one's undergraduate course , or probably I read that wrongly

I understand no one is responsible for answering my Questions , but I'll be patient. I understand it's a long one but I really need guidance , it's my first time so I'm trying to make everything work out fine.

I look forward to anyone helping my life ,yes I understand I have to be patient. I'll be patient definitely. I look forward to getting responses. Thanks My Nigerian Brother and sisters
