KnowAll:Dont be decieved by what you see. In as much as I dont support her for INEC position, its good for us to be aware of what is on ground. Her being a card carrying member of the PDP might just not disqualify her because the position of INEC boss had been prearranged in such a way that its only a card carrying politician that can occupy the position. If not so, why is it that one of the criteria no qualify to be nominated into the INEC boss position is that the person most be such that is qualified to serve in the national assembly. Now ask yourself if it is possible to be elected into the National Assembly without being a card carrying member of a party? Electoral reforms and constitutional review is the way forward. |
Dora did well as NAFDAC boss but when sh was made minister, she almost messed up all she achieved in NAFDAC. Dont 4get her role in Ekiti elections, Her stands in Yaradua's kitchen cabinet until she realised there was going to be change in power and she quickly jumped the boat (Smart move though). I know she will not do well in INEC. My reasons, 1. She is not consistent 2. She is too into PDP 3. She cannot control her emotions, hence sometimes engages in Idle talks. 4. Even though people say she is fearless, I disagree because on few occasions when she was hushed down, she disappeared into thin air. The most recent being after the governors forum asked her to keep quiet. My Submission Considering my listed points above, i will say NO but rather prefer her in Ministry of Health. Why dont we try Wole Soyinka or Emeka Anyaoku. Atleast this people are international figures and have a lot to loose if the tamper with their reputations. |
Come to think of it, how are we sure Yaradua was actually in the container that arrived yesterday? If my suspicions are right, This power drunk idiots could just stage this return just to put cowardly Jonathan in check. As far as I am concerned, Jonathan has disappointed Nigerians. We are back to square one. Andaouka, Ibori, Turai and the likes are back to power. This is scary!!! |
It is also some of these elites that are responsible for the ordeals of the banking sector. they collected all those loans and are not paying back. what happens to them? will they enjoy immunity as usual? Dangote now NSE president. Hmmm so much for the transparency and fight against corruption even after the allegation of his involvement in illegal stock price manipulation. My fingers are still crossed. |
I guess there is more to this than meets the eye. Time and events in this country has thought me not to be in a hurry to be excited on any government policy or action that seems to be in the interest of the masses on the face of it because eventually it turns out to be another gimic to give themselves more money and power. It will be out of place to say that the banking industry in nigeria is without issues, but it is also in place to say that CBN's pressent stand might have been hurriedly taken and not encompassing. let us compair these banks with the country! If government suddenly have our interests at heart, What are they doing about these other issues like, education, power supply, Good roads, Lagos State LGA saga, healthcare , Niger delta, high cost of fuel and the likes. lets not forget that election is coming up very soon and Baba goslow definitely is not ready yet to leave and money is needed to fund that project. having his grip on such a sector as financial sector is a big advantage. we all know that most of these bank's MDs are OBJ loyalist and Yaradua is gradually religating Obj to d background. You will agree with me that the Ngerian polity is but a chess game in the hands of the elites. Lets keep our fingers crossed while we watch helplessly hoping we wont be consumed. |
pareto:I expected you to contest deprofy's post if u hv a more authentic info instead of attacking just like dat without adding any value. |
wirinet:I definitely agree with you. I was driving by Ahmadu Bello Way yesterday and what I saw got me thinking. I saw some construction guys trying to pick up stones from the main road and putting them back to block spaces where water has flushed them from. It appears that the water is actually over flowing again and its washing away the stones and other stuff used in the construction work. It is important that we realise that nature always has a way of balancing its self. If lands a reclaimed from the Atlantic ocean for such project as the Atlantic city, it does not mean a reduction in water volume. so what nature simply does is move the mass volume of water to where it can find space ( the pressure is what causes flooding). I would have preffer ed if such projects are sited in other high land areas in the state. All the same the State Government is doing well. |
I sincerely agree with Sky Blue, This change has to start from some where. Governor Fashola is setting a standard. All we need to pray is for other state Governors and even our Stagnant Federal Govt should take a queue from this. |
Fashola Moves Against Landlords May 20, 2009. By Kazeem Ugbodaga Governor Babatunde Fashola has sent a bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly to stop landlords from collecting any form of advance payment for house rent. When passed into law, it becomes a criminal offence for landlords to collect advance payment of rent from tenants. What this means is that landlords who collect one or two years’ advance payment for rent from the would-be tenant or tenants have committed criminal offence and are therefore liable for prosecution. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olasupo Sasore (SAN), said the new bill, Tenancy Bill 2009, is already before the State House of Assembly and is meant to relieve the plight of tenants from shylock landlords. He said the bill is meant to make multiple collection of rent in advance from tenants, by landlords who greedily exploit the people, criminal. Sasore stated that the bill would consolidate all existing tenancy laws in the state and would also reduce the period when landlords would commence civil procedures against tenants. The commissioner added that a public hearing would be held on the bill to enable Lagosians add their input before it is passed into law. Landlords in the state had for long exploited would-be tenants with many of them collecting advance payment for rent ranging from two to five years, while tenants have been groaning under their exploitation as they, landlords, continue to feed fat on the hapless tenants. Meanwhile, the commissioner has said that the state was determined to sustain and build on the success of the Criminal Case Tracking System (CCTS) by establishing a Crime Data Bureau (CDB) which would maintain a Crime Data Register. “Among others, the Crime Data Register will be a repository for both custodial and noncustodial sentences. “The goal of the CDB as a whole is to deliver effective crime data-processing and crime record-keeping support to the Lagos State Criminal Justice System,” he stated. Sasore added that in the next one year, the ministry would continue with the implementation of the reforms in the administration of criminal justice. According to him; “it is expected that the amendments to the Administration of Criminal Justice Law will pass through the legislative process. “The implementation of the Community Service Scheme and the establishment of the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Correctional Centre are also expected to crystalise in the next one year.” |
LASTMA Man Jailed For Taking Bribe May 20, 2009 15:04 (3 hours ago), 180 views By Kazeem Ugbodaga An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, this morning, sentenced a LASTMA official, Mr. Andrew Bodukale, to four years imprisonment without the option of fine, for taking N10,000 bribe. Delivering judgement, Magistrate Ayodele Isaac found the LASTMA official guilty of collecting bribe and subsequently jailed him. Mr. Bodukale said he would appeal the judgement at the Appeal Court so that he could get the needed justice. The LASTMA official was arrested last year, by the Lagos state government and arraigned before the magistrate’s court over an allegation of collecting N10,000 bribe while on duty. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olasupo Sasore, personally prosecuted the LASTMA official in court, in order to serve as a deterrent to other LASTMA officials who would want to collect bribe while on duty. After several adjournments, Magistrate Ayodele finally delivered judgement today. |
NV ME:Please can u tell us which of their EDs u spoke with, atleast EDs are not common and are not in branches (check any bank out to confirm dat) so we can actually confirm ur claim. It will be very stupid for anyone to lie about new branches because they are physical things u can see and confirm and I actually saw one. I was in Lagos last week and I noticed they've oppened a new branch in Satelite Town (atleast u can confirm dat). So please do not discourage odas if u feel discouraged already. tai2:We all hear dis advert and we know exactly dat it is promo. U dont need to try so hard to push ur point. If u have never heard of promo before, u can check it up. So u never heard of other stuff that could be won like cars (2)? all ur ear could pick up was bike! are u already thinking like dat? U are certainly biased and its so disgusting! hushhh! |
kelvd4real:I meant threaten. lol! |
@Poster and @All Out of curiosity, I have tried to find out what is missing in our organisation and society that encourages the excellent customer service failure that has engulfed our society today, and I have identified 2 major issues that if addressed critically, the situation will greatly improve. 1. Organisations should provide a channel for effective customer feedback and also proper follow-up to respond to such feedbacks (I would explain). It is important that I am able to bear my mind to a listening ear if I don't receive gud service. I would give a practical example. One of the Nigerian Banks (Intercontinental to be precise) has a toll free line that you can send your complaints. this line is directly linked to the CEO. I tot it was just one of those marketing strategy but I was surprised when I went to one of their branches and was not satisfied with the service I received, I sent a text message to that line and was surprised with the response time. I received a call in less than 10mins from a very polite clients supports person at the other end of the phone and she apologised to me and asked for proper clarification. It did not end their. the branch manager called me after that time to apologise too and assured me that d officer in question has been cautioned. I was satisfied. I learnt one thing from it. Most of the staff you have encounter with are just concerned about their salaries and not how the business will survive, so if you own a business, it is important that you provide for an effective means for customer feedback and also proper follow-up to get such issues sorted out on time. Else, u risk loosing ur customers because of one useless employee who is just concerned about his/her pay. 2. Customers should demand service. I also have come to realise that most customers will just take anything they get. this is not supposed to be so. Even in an organisation where proper feedback mechanism is in place, some customers will not still use it. They will rather complaint to themselves and probably head for another outlet where they will receive worse service and they keep going round and round until they find themselves where where they started from. In such case, how do u expect to receive good service? Assuming I did not send the text message to the toll free line, I probably will still be thinking dat bank does not care about its customers. So whenever I go the bank now and I am not getting good service, what I simply do is to treating them that I would send a text message, and you will be surprised with the type of attention and service I would receive. |

Shinaaolami:Only if he still got some conscience left in him! |
DKNY_truth:There is a clear difference btw CRITICISM and DEFAMATION. If u dont know, there is something known as Libel in law and english language. U may want to check out the meaning (WHITE MAN WHIT WHITE, ) |
The picture is getting clearer. gdnyte once more! |
@ blacklion Must everyone buy d idea of the poster? As far as I am concerned I think the people dat are actually drinking panadol on this issue are those dat are trying so hard to push their selfish thoughts on everyone. If I am sensible enof to know d signs of a sick or failing bank and I defend Inter since dy dont show any of such signs, does dat make me a staff of inter? No disrespect, please lets use our brains. thats what they are meant for. gudnyte |
I agree with u, that employee has actually shown how unprofessional he/she is. am sure the management of his organisation will certainly sanction him for such an unprofessional act. |
So sending death threats is a way to stop the rumors abi? dat was just a concerned staff's reaction, which does not necessarily represent the organisation's opinion. Lets not act as if we cannot discern the truth from falsehood. There are more selfish intents to all this. its just obvious forget your CIB. the question is what do u want to achieve with it? with Ur qualification, I expect you to be the one to educate the forum on how to identify a sick or failing bank. I mean more informed opinions and not all d one lines we get with no valid or informed points in dem. Please lets face it. this forum should not be an avenue to pass insults or selfish motives, rather people should be able to be well informed when dey participate in discussions here. thank u. |
pls no one should feel sorry for any bank. let them all fail U seem not to get it! If a bank is sick, its left for the regulatory body to act. But how do u explain when a bank is killed by rumour mongers. If u understand how d business of banking is been run, u will know dat it is not possible for any bank (anywhere in d world) to pay back all its depositors if dey wish to withdraw at the same time. Dis is what happens when rumour mongers take on a bank. Depositors request for their money almost at the same time. Tis run on d bank will only succeed in killing d bank. So choose ur calling in life! |
@df2006 Dont get me wrong, as for difference btw a staff and his employer, it is not to be defined to u. what am pointing out is the fact that personal opinions are not same as corporate position. But we should understand dat the Pull Him Down syndrome will only kill dis country d more. the fact is dat no financial institution can survive a run on dem. If rumours like dis are allowed to continue and dey succeed in running intercontinental down, it wont be the end. who knows d next bank dat will be faced. I think we should be more productive with our time. |
Is it not disheartening to hear a whole state Govt has had militants on their pay roll all along and dat a whooping N100M is payed out to this militants every month. what other way can a sitting Govt endorse illegality? I strongly belief dis millitant groups are actually floated by Staunch men in dat area who collects returns from all dis spree of fund. The state Govt have now come out to say that they are putting a stop to militant allowance of N100M monthly. Do u think dis militants who are already used to dis heavy inflows every GOVT pay day will take dis lightly. will dey just fold their hands and look or will dey get more violent? they are already issuing threats upon threats. has d Govt bettered or worsened the situation? |
"I received a threatening email from Intercontinental Bank this morning. I'm still kind of shaken and I can't figure out if they are threatening a "Spiritual" or "Physical" attack. Why would a "healthy" bank threaten a "lowly" blogger for doing a public service? After all, the CBN is conducting a "Special Examination" of the bank. Well, if anything happens to me, I guess my wife and kids will know who to hold responsible. I plan to take this threat seriously. I won't be bullied. I remain an intrepid newshound. Here's the text of the email from Intercontinental Bank's Corporate Affairs Departmemt I guess u are mistaken the identity of who sent u d mail, if u check properly u'll notice dat its not their coperate affairs dept because they were only copied in d mail. maybe u should just tk dis ur fight easy and give urself some break. it looks to me dat u are trying too hard to make ur point. people are not dumbs, dey can discern d truth from mere rumours dat have hidden motives. if u say CBN is currently going tru their records, i think dat is just normal to actually ascertain and finally put to rest all dis rumours about Intercontinental bank. with all due respect, Please let us wait and hear from more informed people who may not be biased. as for d mail, dats just a concerned staff responding to u and not intercontinental as a bank. am sure u know dat. |
Thief I can't believe in this day and age such rules would be in force. That blood sample rule is surely in breach of a person's human rights. Madness if you ask me. i don't see anything extra ordinary with asking one to have a blood test. except you gained admission into your higher institution through the back door, it is part of the registration process to have your blood tested (for several things including blood Group and AIDS). if it was a stupid thing to do, US embassy and some other embassies will not make it a requirement. If you are to work in a meaningful organisation, it is compulsory. in-case u forgot, it is called MEDICALS. ![]() |
