Religion / Re: Personal Holiness: The Object And Means by Kelvin2001: 11:14am On May 30, 2020
Holiness and Righteousness go together. In a biblical sense, Holiness is simply staying away from sin.
Righteousness refers to a good moral standard.
Religion / Personal Holiness: The Object And Means by Kelvin2001: 1:19am On May 30, 2020
Personal holiness basically talks about we being righteous and dedicated to God. The object of this holiness can only be achieved through its means. What are these Means? Here, Means refer to serving God through an act of holiness under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. If we don't act under the influence of the holy spirit, then, our personal service to God cannot be effective.

Why is it necessary for us to be holy?
God is our Father and we strive to be like him daily. This is why we are called Christians. Therefore, it is only in this holiness we can achieve God's purpose for us. The handbook says "We cannot do anything without God abiding in us and we abiding in him." Hence, it's necessary for us to achieve Personal Holiness. When we receive the fruits of the Holy Spirit, the holiness of the church is shown through those fruits. Remember, that one of our primary duties as legionaries is to save souls for Christ. This means that we striving for holiness is not just a benefit to us but to save other souls as well. Therefore, if you are not holy, many souls would not be saved.
As we do this, May our Mother Mary continue to intercede for us and give us strength to continue the will of God through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Agriculture / How To Boost The Agricultural Sector In Nigeria by Kelvin2001: 12:56am On May 30, 2020
Since the discovery of oil in 1956 by the SHELL- BP, Nigeria has channelled most of her resources to the extraction of crude oil paying less attention to the Agricultural sector of the economy. Nigeria is rich in natural resources especially land and water which requires Agricultural exploitation. A balance in the amount of resources channelled to the Oil and Gas sector and that of the Agricultural sector would increase the GDP of the economy.
The inception of oil in the country paralyzed the growth of the Agricultural sector little more attention would boost the economy even more. The ways the government can boost the Agricultural sector in Nigeria include the following;

Firstly, agro based loans should be granted to farmers. If the government is able to provide these loans and grant them, it would encourage both farmers especially small scale farmers. Not all farmers in Nigeria are able to provide the essentials for farming. These loans would be essential in purchasing some farming instruments and machines, seeds for planting, pesticides to get rid of pests that feed on and destroy crops, hiring of farm aids amongst other things. How can a country producing rice still be one of the largest importers of rice? Months back, the President announced the closure of the border which means importation of rice can no longer take place therefore, Nigerians have to make use of the rice produced in the country. The major complaint here is that the rice isn't clean, there are a lot of dirty and unneeded particles in the rice which isn't suitable for consumption. If Agricultural loans are granted, this will serve as a form of encouragement to farmers who in turn would put in extra effort in producing a more consumable rice and other food crops.

Furthermore, the Agricultural sector in Nigeria can be boosted by subsidizing the farm inputs. Farm inputs like fertilizers, machineries, seeds, pesticides, manure, amongst others can be reduced to a lower price or provided to farmers. Most small scale farmers spend so much to acquire these inputs and don't get nearly as much as profit. With this, no one wants to practice large scale farming, they prefer to practice low budget farming as these inputs come in at high prices. When these things are provided, it will definitely encourage farmers to do more, increase their profit and boost the Agricultural sector of the country.

Lastly, there should be empowerment and enlightenment of youths to join the Agricultural area. Most youths in the country, after graduation, go in search of white collar jobs when in fact, their father's probably have farmlands that could yield a fortune. Youths should be thought that engaging in farm practices doesn't necessarily mean you are uneducated. With the right knowledge in agriculture, one can be a very successful farmer. Yams, rice, beans, tomato, cassava, amongst other crops can be grown and cultivated on one farm land. These products can be sold vastly in the country and exported to other countries. Enlighten the youths on the benefits of farming, encourage them with loans and subsidies and it would definitely boost the Agricultural sector in Nigeria.

The country has been too reliant on Petroleum which is quite worrisome. God blessed Nigeria with a large expanse of land and natural resources which needs attention. The Agricultural sector should not be neglected simply because of the large amount of revenue generated from the Oil and Gas sector. If nearly as much as the resources channelled to the Oil sector is fluted to the Agricultural sector, there would be an effective boost.

Literature / The Thoughts Of Love by Kelvin2001: 12:26am On May 30, 2020
A day turned into years,
I longed and I waited,
For you to yield,
For it to be fated.

I sat tight,
Longer than I should,
I thought I was obsessive and right,
I thought in my fantasy it could,
But it was always a might.

I thought I might choke from it,
It was painful,
Yes it was.
They said it is hopeful,
So, I imagined a beautiful cause.
I expected joy in full,
But what I got was hurt.

I looked into the mirror and all I could see,
A girl with a facade,
With a heart screaming like a banshee,
Trying to twinkle in her darkness,
Genuine wasn't the point,
Smiling was the goal.

They thought I was fine,
I thought it would go with time,
I thought, 'one day it'll all be bright,'
I was wrong.

How can love hurt this much?
The stories I heard weren't hurt,
They were alluring tales,
Fairytales with happy endings,
Folklores with a 'happily ever after.'

I was wrong,
I've been wrong; my thoughts and all.
Love is not a fantasy of tale,
It didn't always end in a 'happily ever after' as well.

It is the most beautiful feeling ever,
With the right person of course.
You feel appealing in and out,
It's like riding on stars.
Loving the wrong person is conflict and war,
But loving the right person is harmonious and peaceful.

I didn't feel pretty,
Neither did I feel like I was on stars.
My brain was at war with my heart,
I wanted to change me.
Was this love?
It didn't feel like it.

Education / The Perks Of Being An Introvert by Kelvin2001: 11:14pm On May 29, 2020
Extraversion has always been a preferred personality for some people. No one wants that dull, shy or weird person as a friend, everyone wants to feel among and not be tagged as boring. Extroverts are usually popular and may appear to get all the recognition and fun. They may appear to be the most successful people in the world and so, everyone wants to be an extrovert. A lot of people change their personality just to suit the group of friends they often hang out with and feel like they are in the world. They want to belong by all means, they want to be the 'life of party' , they always to be 'where it's happening', but it doesn't have to be so. Why change who you are to impress other people?
A little story will help buttress my point.

My siblings often diss me because of the number of friends I have. They always say, "You have only 45 persons on your contact list, whereas I have 245, I have 302. Your Instagram followers are just 72, whereas I have 2,000, I have 1,500. Your social life is boring, you are an introvert". I was always pained whenever they tell me these things, I really wanted to have over 200 contacts, thousands of friends and followers on my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. I didn't want to be that weird one in the group, the who doesn't always gets an invitation to the party and I tried to change that. I began posting more often on my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram page to gather more followers, I gathered the contacts of numerous people I didn't know from group chats, I became loud and spoke unnecessarily and some people would say 'off point'. At that time, things did change, I gathered about fifty more followers on my Instagram page and my contact list increased to 102, at least I could brag about this to my friends. In reality, I don't talk to more than half the people in my contact and after about a week or so my Instagram followers dropped to 68 as I couldn't keep up with an active account. I was often reprimanded by some people for my character. 'You have changed', was what I kept hearing. I lost some of my closest friends. On several occasions, my Mom called me for heart to heart conversations on my behavior and at that point, I realized that a lot of people, people who value me appreciates my personality and wouldn't want to see me any different. I never considered myself an introvert, I didn't even want to be one. I honestly always saw myself as the life of the group chats, my class and other social groups. As a student in the Art department aspiring to become a lawyer, I wanted to be social. I thought lawyers were more of extroverts; sociable, talkative, expressive or so I thought. I was none of this no matter how I hard I try to be and this made me feel like I wasn't good enough to become a lawyer. Turns out, about 60% of lawyers are introverts. I didn't need to change myself to fit in. I am bold and outspoken when I need to be, I have won class debates and other competitions. I didn't need to have 2,000 followers on social media platforms, I didn't need to change my personality to prove to myself I have what it takes to be a lawyer. Irrespective of what anyone tells me, being an introvert shouldn't make me feel less of a person. All I needed to do was appreciate who I am and stop trying to be who I'm not.

There are actually a lot of good perks of introversion. Introverts are good listeners, they are very creative because they are able to really focus and think. Their originality is top notch as their ideas are often as a result of a focused mind. They are polite and independent, less clingy and obnoxious.

In conclusion, who says you need to be talkative, sociable, lively, outgoing or assertive to feel like a person? Who needs 500 faithless and false friends when you have one faithful and true friend? Who says you can't be successful because you are an introvert? Isaac Newton, Bill Gates, Eleanor Roosevelt amongst others are all successful introverts and you can be one.You shouldn't feel inferior because of your personality rather appreciate yourself, work on making the most of yourself and most importantly, love yourself. All personalities are beautiful and we all came to the world for specific purposes. Everyone can't be an extrovert or an introvert. We all matter.
