Hello Thanks @ Bimbam. We are all in it together. Like she rightly said, what i last explained is the center panel of the bosom cut. There are additional two panels which lie at the other sides ( left and right) of the center panel. For the side panels, take the cut out center panel and place on your folded fabric and cut through such that when you sew them together, you will have your perfect bust cut. Then you can pin pieces together so you can now measure out your bust ( ÷4) , underbust and waist ( all divided by 4) , add 1.5" sewing allowance. Use your front panel to cut out the back panel of the blouse , do not forget to include your zip allowance (1"). To temporarily cut your arm hole, i say this cos you would still trim your arm hole later, maesure out your shoulder, like mine is 16", divide by 2, that is 8, plus 0.5" allowance cut out your arm hole. My neck depth is 6 while my neck width is 8, i will divide my neck width by 2, that is 4 since my fabric is on fold, then make my circular neck design. If you desire a square, or sweetheart shape, then cut accordingly. |
My picture quality is bad. Please manage. As soon as I am able to rectify it, will definitely upload. My bust point to point is 8, divide by 2 , add 0.5 sewing allowance. Place your fabric on a fold of 4.5 ". Lenghtwise is 16 , in order to get a circular bust curve, mark 4.5" on the bust line, then 4" on the under bust line, then 3.5" that is minus 1" on the upper bust line. On these marks, join the lines together like you are plotting a graph and cut through.

We are going to start with the main body of the blouse as i told you the we have 3 blocks . So here's how the division process will be. Shoulder- 16÷2=8 Bust- 39÷4=9.75 Under bust- 34÷4= 8.5 Neck width- 8÷2=4 Waist- 36÷4=9 Bust point to point- 8÷2=4( plus half inch sewing allowance) For the breast cut Using the bust point to point measurement, fold your fabric into 4 1/2 such that when you open , you will have a total of 9". Mark out the vertical distance of bust point, under bust, waist/half lenght, and include 1" allowance for the slanting of the shoulder and sewing allowance. |
We will begin our blouse tutorials today. Here's my measurement * shoulder - 16 * bust- 39 @ 11 * under bust- 34 @ 14 * waist - 36 @ 16 * half lenght - 16 * full lenght - 25 * neck depth - 3 * neck width - 8 * bust point to point- 8 |

Hi everyone For those using lace fabric for this project would as well need to line the lace with tafeta or satin fabric in addition to the lining you will use. Materials needed for this blouse * lining * tafeta / satin ( for those who are making this blouse with lace) * matching thread * zip * lots of patience Here's my fabric |
The dress has three blocks -the main body of dress -the peplum which is at the base and of course -the sleeves This is a way of introduction to make learning easier and understanding simple. We are starting with the main body of the dress. Please post pics of your fabrics, take measurements and let's roll. |
Measurements to be taken *shoulder *bust point @ round bust point *under-bust @ round under-bust *breast point-to-point *waist * half-lenght *full lenght * neck depth *neck width *armhole *sleeve length *sleeve width |
Hello , can we all go with the yellow one above? What y'all think? |
I go with arakulture's suggestion. My hands are really full this period. Let's make something easier probably with a peplum at the base since most of us are just beginning to sew. You become pro with constant practice and making and correcting mistakes. So let's not be in a rush as it can cause more confusion than learning. Having a basic knowledge can help you manipulate complex styles. I will upload pics later. |
Class is so slow. Please, post pictures so that we can continue. Weldone everyone. |

Head full of brains, making her nation and her generation proud and you are asking about her hairstyle. I can bet with my little finger that that's the least of her worries. |
Nice thread you've got here @ op. It's a lot easier when you are yet to have a kid or probably one. I didn't need a help when i had a child but pheww , when they became more than one, i clamoured for help. I employed a middle-aged woman. She helps in cleaning the house and looks after the kids when they are back from school. Yes, she lives in our bq so that we both can still enjoy our privacy. She has her off-time after every two weekends. She is matured and agreed to all these conditions. Being married should not mean my life has stopped.I still enjoy going out with hubby alone even at nights. When it comes to house chores, my hubby is as lazy as.... so why will i prove to be a super- human being juggling between work, running a home and my personal stuff ( religious activities). I tried it and the end result was exhaustion and stress. So what ever rocks your boat, treat people nicely and you will enjoy their nice side. |

It was a very painful incidence when we lost a doctor of veterinary medicine in UNN. One of the faculty finest young lecturer. She had 2 kids and died at age 33. Another close warrior is a neighbor who uses crutches because one of the numerous crisis paralysed her legs. I sincerely wish more people especially intending couples to have knowledge about SSD and know their genotype compatibility.Having the knowledge that love and time cannot fade away the disease and make the right decision. Bringing a being into life that will cost you your extra time to take care of, resources, pain , several trips in and out of hospital , regrets etc is not worth it at all. Make the right decision today. @ op , you're truly a warrior. I love your spirit. |
Nice thread CC. For me , I would say there is no amount of time that is either too long or too short for the proposal to come. It depends totally on the individuals for no two relationships are the same.I will categorically say a lady knows where the relationship is headed from the first day of their being together. Also a guy knows if he can spend the rest of his life with a lady he is in a relationship with except they are both in self-denial. I knew the intentions of my friend (hubby now) but I felt I was still too young(early 20s) and still have a good single life ahead of me and wanted a longer dating period but he was so ready.Though he didn't shove the marriage thing in my throat. He was all I wanted in a man but was just not ready. Six months into our relationship, he took me unaware.Meanwhile, i have been a friend and a daughter to his family and my family knew him too. We both visited his elder sister in Kano, a day after while having dinner , he knelt and brought out a ring and proposed in the presence of his 2 elder sisters,a younger sister and his nephew. At that point , I had mixed feelings and reviewed my life in a flash. I replied with a yes sha but felt it was fraudulent. 2 months later we sealed it at the altar after the native law and customs rites. We have two great kids now, we will be four years in marriage next month and still going strong in our relationship. No regrets at all. He is all I ever desired. I hope u enjoyed my story. |
