@happinness44 Sorry about the headaches. Though it's not uncommon to experience headaches during 2nd trimester but it is better to rule out underlying ailments. I had bouts of headache in mine , google says it's normal but I wasn't having it. I went to the doctor , had series of tests carried out ( full blood count, urinalysis, malaria parasite and white blood cell count ) as prescribed by the doctor. Found out the malaria parasite test came out positive. Just a simple dose of drugs for a few days and I had peace in my head. Please see a doctor. |

For the narrow hem or pencil skirt, you take away four inches from your hips to apply to jem of skirt. If it is a stretchy fabric, you can take away more than that bit be careful so you can walk in your skirt without your knees knocking together. For example if your hips is 40, then, hem of skirt will be 40-4=36 |
Good evening everyone. It's been a looooong silence on my part. I lost a relative, it's been grieving and funeral proceedures, please pardon me. I am back now. |
Let's see how to make a narrow hem/ pencil skirt. It's a little variation from the basic straight skirt. Here are some images.
|
Curiouscat:If you can be specific in the areas that need clarification, sure I will. |
olipee:Length of dart is 4 inches while the width is 0.5 inch |
Take the measurement from one nipple point of the bust to the other. It's also called bust apart or bust span
|
Ask questions in areas not clear. |
.
|
Input 1.5 inch zip allowance at the back. Sew sides together and attach your waist band to the skirt.
|
Divide the circumferential/ round measurements into 4 parts. Here I waist 30 = 30÷4= 7.5 (add seam allowance )7.5 +2= 9.5 Hips 38= (38÷4) + 2= 9.5 Tip to tip = 8 ( this is needed for sewing darts which gives shape to the skirt. This is divided into 2, then add 0.5 inch allowance.(8÷2) +0.5= 4.5 Length =22 +2( hem allowance) Body rise/ hip depth tells you exactly where to measure your hips. It's the distance from the waist to the fullest part of the hips. |
Before we continue, let's see how to take proper body measurements. For this skirt, we need #Waist # Hips # Length of skirt as desired # Body rise/ hip depth - the distance from waist to hip
|
Hello everyone. I have got up to the number. Now, let's go. We will start with the basic skirt which will give way to other skirt variations. Here are some images of basic skirts.

Good day everyone. My name is Williams Esther. I love sewing , it's a hobby I have had since I was a lil kid. Being creative and putting pieces together. I am an instructor in a fashion school in Abuja precisely in Wuse II. In my little way of giving back and a great flare for sewing, I want to teach at least one person here how to sew and inspire a few persons . We are going to see various kinds of designs of garments and how to cut and sew the pieces together. I have knowledge in both the free-hand method and pattern drafting. 'SEW' LET'S GO! If you are in, indicate by saying 'I AM IN . When I get up to 10 I am in, we will start. |
Cappo sixx. Indeed the Lord is good. A big big congratulations to you. Your prince will continually bring joy to you and your household. Pls load his cheek for me with a hundred kisses. Congratulations once again. |
CharmyBliz:Sorry about your son's crankiness . I don't understand the bandage part. Bandage wasn't used for my son's circumcision. It's the ring/ plastibell method which usually falls off on its own between 8-10 days like we were told at the hospital. Today makes it the 6th day he was circumcised and a part of the plastic ring has worn off already. Baby oil or penicillin ointment was advised to apply and babies are usually fine after the first day of circumcision except the area is touched. Be careful when wearing him his diapers. Pls check with his doctor concerning the bandage part. He will sure be fine. Other sabi mamas will throw more light on this. |
