JimohMomoh:
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has joined the growing number of state governors who have rejected the federal government’s proposed Ruga settlements for herdsmen in the 36 states of the country.
The governor said Rivers State should not be counted among states for the Ruga settlement, both now and in the future.
According to him, the available lands in the state would be needed to start commercial agriculture across the state, to create employment for Rivers youths.
The governor made his mind on the Ruga issue known in a statement signed and released by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Paulinus Nsirim on Tuesday.
Insisting that the state had no land for the implementation of such policy, Nsirim maintained that what is in Wike’s mind is prioritising commercial agriculture, during his second term in office.

Clearly stating that the state government had not given any land for the setting up of Ruga settlements anywhere in Rivers and don’t intend to in future, Nsirim said Wike would continue to defend the interest of Rivers people, who have overwhelmingly rejected cattle colonies, Ruga settlements and any such policy.

Are you the owner of the South? Do you have any plots of land that is at risk? Or your hate towards the President is crowning on you the King of Southern Nigeria?

- Over 50% of these outbursts is due to hatred against Buhari.
- More than 25% is from those who oppose anything APC.
- The remaining is mostly tribal in nature.

The ranch program will proceed in places where it is welcome. Tomorrow these wailers will find something else to cling unto.

There two main problem we have on this matter:

1. How to stop legit herders from roaming about with their livestock and be clashing with farmers whose farms are destroyed by these cattle. The ranches will fix that. This is 21st century, not the days of Abraham.
2. The criminal elements, who go about killing, invading and burning villages. Security agents will deal with this, with support from local policing.

To deal with number 2 effectively and stop the killings of innocent Nigerians, you need to fix number one.

Already we have a problem, what is important is implementing a good solution. Yes, ranches should only be establish in communities and states who want it.

That Sambisa Forest argument is ridiculous at best.
Days of Abraham in deed....

We don't want any fucking ruga here in the South.... Simple as ABC...

Are the Fulani still a part of us?

The fierce criticisms and public outrage so far expressed against the proposed Ruga Settlement for the Fulani ethnic stock, especially the herders, eloquently explains the coordinated rejection and marginalization that the group has suffered over the years.

Unfortunately, for no fault of theirs, the [s]Fulani people have become complete stranger[/s]s in their own land, and are most times treated with crass contempt by other Nigerians. I am yet to see or read about any ethnic group in Nigeria that is as alienated, rejected, abused and raped as the Fulani people. Kindly prove me wrong.

While representatives of other ethnic nationalities daily mount the rostrum to demand for their portions of the national cake and other privileges, the Fulani people are never considered or factored into any of such arrangements. An average Fulani man hardly gets anything from the system. These people have no access to basic infrastructure like electricity, road, healthcare services, education, and even a recognised platform to champion their cause.

Sadly, the Fulani elite group has become complicit in the gang up against the Fulani nation. The privileged Fulani elite group is only interested in grabbing power and building personal empires without giving a hoot about the the pitiable plight of the vast majority of the downtrodden among them.

Also, the murderous acts of a few bad eggs among the fulani has further compounded their problems. But punishing or discriminating against an entire ethnic nationality over the sins of a few isn't a proper thing to do. If for nothing, let's consider the law-abiding and innocent ones who are clearly in the majority.

Beyond the hoopla that the Ruga Settlement plan has generated, Nigeria hasn't been fair to the Fulani ethnic nationality. Nigeria has tactically failed to integrate the Fulani nation into her fold. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and it is within our right to demand for inclusion and recognition. In all honesty, the Ruga Settlement plan isn't all that the nation owes the Fulani. We owe them love, empathy, integration and sympathy.

Peace-building Initiatives or arrangements such as the 13 percent oil derivation allocation for oil producing states, Niger Delta Development Commission, North East Development Commission, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, National Amnesty Programme and Presidential Initiative on the North East were birthed to address certain injustice or neglect.

For the sake of fairness, I think same approach should be adopted in addressing the plight of the Fulani people in Nigeria.

The Fulani people are our brothers and sisters. We cannot afford to leave them out in whatever we do as a nation, especially in the allocation of our resources for development purposes.
If I may remember you the fulani has produced 2 or more presidents. Guy reason na

RUGA is not new. There were ranches for cattle since the 50s From Cross River to Ondo states. The difference here is that Federal Government wants to build it only for Fulani from the North.

Yoruba, Efik, Edo or Igbo would welcome RUGA as long as they are manned by indigenes.
You are right

[quote author= post=79844880]We remembered how we used to live as brothers as sisters in our darling nation with these same Fulani herdsmen.
The times we gave water and food to herdsmen journeying across the nation as they go on their business peacefully,
Just with their sticks for their cattles and kettles for their prayers,
that was all before the evil and criminal minded politicians begun sponsoring some of them for evil because they want to remain in power forever.

That was before the mad man called FFK began tweeting that they have sex with their cows, just to start war and bring unrest in the country.

May it never be well with troublemakers in our darling nation.

Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime in Jesus name!
