China-based Transsion Holdings made its debut in India in August with Infinix Note 4 and Hot 4 Pro smartphones that did not make much of a noise in the competitive domestic smartphone market.






Now, the company has launched Infinix Zero 5 that joins the race of dual-camera devices coming from its Chinese counterparts that have flooded the Indian market.






Launched at Rs 17,999(N100,573) Zero 5 with 64GB onboard storage and 6GB RAM essentially competes with the likes of Honor 9i.

Here is how the smartphone fares in everyday usage.

Infinix Zero 5 sports a metal unibody design that is free of any creek and felt top-notch.

The edges are smooth and offer an ergonomic grip while adding to the premium feel even as the phone sports a big design language.

The 5.98-inch Full HD display with 2.5D glass atop it was rich and bright.







The rear camera placement in the device reminds us of Huawei P9's camera design language sans the "Leica" lens branding.

A much-talked-about feature of Zero 5 is its dual-primary camera with 12MP wide-angle lens and 13MP telephoto lens that added good "Bokeh" effect to photos with blurred background.

We found the pictures to be satisfactory in proper lighting conditions. Colour reproduction was good; so was the saturation level.

Two antenna bands run through the top and bottom of the phone that give a rich look.

The fingerprint sensor lies below the camera set-up and was quick to unlock the device.




An octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor, coupled with 6GB RAM, does its job well in terms of multi-tasking and running several applications simultaneously.

We did not notice any significant stutter while playing games, browsing YouTube and using social media apps.

A hefty 4350mAh battery powers the device that easily lasted over a day for us on moderate usage, with 4G running on one SIM slot.




The bottom of the device houses a USB Type-C charger port and a single speaker grille that is loud enough.

The company's custom XOS 3.0 user interface (UI) based on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system (OS) is smooth but do not expect it to be similar to stock Android OS.

What does not work?

The 16MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and flash is strictly okay. Images taken from the front shooter lacked detail.

Image taken from the primary camera took quite some time to process -- there was significant shutter lag. The photos clicked under low-light conditions had noise.

The device's hefty battery gets support of "XCharge" (which is fast-charging feature) but that is not one of the fastest-charging technologies out there.

A suicide plot by an Islamist sect to attack and kill the Prime Minister of Britain, Theresa May, has been foiled by security operatives.

A Sky News report, citing unidentified sources, has shown that Britain has foiled an Islamist suicide plot to kill Prime Minister Theresa May with a bomb in Downing Street.

According to Reuters, Police and security services believe the plotters planned to launch an improvised explosive device at Downing Street - where the premier lives - and then kill May in the ensuing chaos, Sky said.

Such is the seriousness of the plot that the director general of MI5, Britain’s domestic security agency, briefed cabinet ministers on the plot, Sky said.

Sky said the plot was foiled with the arrest last week of two men by armed police.

London police said that two men arrested last week had been charged with terrorism offenses and would appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

It identified them as Naa‘imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, of north London, and Mohammed Aqib Imran, 21, of south-east Birmingham.

The current number of Nigerians who are now languishing in many Indian cells has been revealed by a migrant who was recently repatriated.

It has been revealed that more than 1,500 Nigerians, are at the moment, reportedly languishing in various deportation camps established by the Indian Government.

The detained Nigerians are said to have entered the country illegally.

According to Daily Sun, this developemnt was disclosed to newsmen in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State by one of the deported Nigerians in that country, Chukwudi Onu,

Onu was recently deported from India over non-possession of relevant documents that enables migrants to live in the country. He revealed that he had travelled to the country with medical visa but couldn’t return to Nigeria to get a resident visa when the former expired.

Recounting his experience in the deportation camp, Mr Onu said that many Nigerians in that country especially those in the deportation camp were going through hell.

He therefore called on the Federal Government to widen the scope of its repatriation project to cover not only Nigerians stranded in Libya but also those held in deportation camps in Asian countries such as India and Malaysia.

Onu who said he is from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State lamented that his wife and three kids are still stranded
in India following his arrested and deportation in May this year.

“I have been living in India for the past six years, I travelled with my family in December 2011 and on May 15th, I was arrested by Indian Immigration Police over expired visa, from there to deportation camp where I spent over a month before I was deported to Nigeria” he narrated.

Onu accused the Indian government of being hostile to Nigerians, alleging that even those with valid passports were most times arrested and hauled into deportation camps, only to be released after their papers must have been verified.

“Yes there were over 1,500 Nigerians, because in my room I think we were about sixty something and they have over twenty one rooms, there are places for Pakistanis and Afghanistans, I think I saw one Polish and an Australian, but the population of Nigerians is twenty times to the one of other nationals” he said.

He explained that his family had been kicked out of their apartment over unpaid bills and could not go to deportation camp because of the harsh treatment being meted out to Nigerians.

“My family are staying in an open church, even to raise money for their air tickets is an uphill task for me. I have been reaching out to the government and Nigerian High Commission in India. Right now, I am appealing to Ebonyi State government because am from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area and well-meaning Nigerians to help me rescue my family”

The deportee pleaded with the Federal Government and the Ebonyi State Government to assist him to rescue his family. He said he was worried about the condition of his family as Indian weather presently is too cold noting that he was paying eight hundred dollars for their rent from Nigeria until he ran out of cash.

He stated that air ticket for his wife and three kids from New Delhi India to Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu would cost a total of $4,000 but would prefer tickets.

“Each ticket from New Delhi to Enugu is about N312,000 multiplied by four is about N1.2 million but I have been able to raise about two hundred thousand Naira by myself, am only appealing to Federal and Ebonyi State governments as well as well meaning Nigerians to assist. I don’t really need the cash, if tickets are bought from any travelling Agency, I will send it to them” he added.

Port Harcourt based singer, Duncan Mighty, has spoken concerning a woman said to be his sister, who was allegedly caught stealing last week.

A Facebook user, named Ofon Le’cheery Francis, last week, shared the photos and wrote, “A woman alleged to be the sister of Duncan mighty the popular musician was caught today in our shop. She stole several goods from the mall.

“She confirmed she is Duncan Mighty’s eldest sister.”

The news went viral on social media as fans wondered why a sister to the successful musician should be caught shoplifting.

But reacting to the viral news, the self-acclaimed Port Harcourt First Son, admitted being a brother to the woman, but claimed she has been going through a mental condition for over a year now.

The popular singer, in a post on his Instagram page, also said his sister was receiving care for her mental illness but ran away a week before the theft allegation made blog headlines.

Wene Badu wrote, “You cannot tarnish my image because God has blessed me before the existence of Instagram.

“This is a woman whom her shops and investments are closed down because she developed mental illness since last year and has been taken to rehabilitation home since then until she ran out over a week until the incident occurred last Saturday.

“Her 15-year-old son is under my scholarship and in the same Chinda family I’ve sponsored several youths in marine who are doing well in various Riggs fields today.

“She will get well someday because you are not God.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s fixture of New Year’s Eve against London rivals West Ham United has been moved to Jan. 4 due to safety concerns, the English Premier League said on Monday.

The league made the decision after the Safety Advisory Group at Wembley Stadium could only recommend a maximum crowd of 43,000 for the initial date, which was less than half the capacity.






“The League selected this match for Dec. 31 with the expectation that a regular crowd capacity would be able to attend,” the Premier League said in a statement.

“However, in spite of significant work by all parties to achieve this, ultimately the Safety Advisory Group at Wembley Stadium would only recommend a maximum crowd of 43,000.”

The main reason for the decision was transport issues, mainly at local tube stations.

The match will kick off at 2000 GMT, two days after Spurs visit Swansea City.

“So many people died; we began calling it ‘ghost disease,'” Lee Jeong Hwa, who in 2010 escaped her home in Kilju County where the nuclear testing site Punggye-ri is located, told NBC News.

“We thought we were dying because we were poor and we ate badly. Now we know it was the radiation.”

Lee isn’t the only defector who believes the radiation is taking its toll on people who lived there.

South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported in November that close to two dozen defectors said the area surrounding Punggye-ri is turning into a “wasteland” where vegetation is dying and babies are born with deformities.

The defectors said drinking water in the area came from Mount Mantap, where nuclear tests reportedly were conducted underground.

Rhee Yeong Sil told NBC News that before she defected in 2013, a neighbor of hers gave birth to a baby so deformed that nobody could determine its gender.

“It didn’t have any genitals,” Rhee said. “In North Korea, deformed babies are usually killed. So the parents killed the baby.”

Lee told NBC News that South Korea’s Ministry of Unification has tested her, along with other defectors, and has found no signs of contamination due to radiation from nuclear tests.

It’s “assumed” that cancer or other diseases found in North Korean defectors are due to nuclear testing, but it’s hard to confirm, the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety told the network.

There is also concern that strong winds could blow lingering radiation to Japan across the Sea of Japan.

Less than a week ago, the regime launched what it called its “greatest” intercontinental ballistic missile which, according to South Korean officials, could have the capability to hit targets as far as 8,100 miles away, putting Washington, D.C., within reach.

The missile, launched on Nov. 28 around 1:30 p.m. ET, was the first the regime conducted since its Sept. 15 test when it fired an intermediate-range missile that flew over Japan’s Hokkaido Island.

October marked the first month the regime didn’t test a missile since January. Between February and September, North Korea launched a missile an average of every two weeks.

A 25-year-old undergraduate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo, on Sunday killed the mother with a cutlass over an argument.

The Police Command in Osun on Monday said it had arrested one Joseph Mark, a 25-year-old undergraduate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo, who beheaded his mother on Sunday.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Folashade Odoro, told newsmen in Osogbo that the incident happened at about 6:30 am, at No 25, Zone 5, Ajetomobi Street, Eko-Ende Road, Ikirun, Osun.

According to Odoro, the father of the suspect, Mr Adewale Mark, reported the incident to Ikirun Divisional Police station.

She said the father explained that he left his house around 5:30 a.m. to visit his friend at the next street and on returning home at about 6 a.m., he discovered that his son had cut off his wife’s head with a cutlass.

Odoro said the culprit, who was suspected to be insane, was arrested when the team of police detectives visited the scene of the crime.

She said exhibits including medical examination of the suspect, weapon used and photographs of the scene and victim were taken by the police.

She said the corpse of the victim, Mrs Christianah Mark, 62, had been deposited at mortuary and that further investigation on the matter had begun.
