7upnigeria: All of that will be fixed, and the coastal highway will STILL BE CONSTRUCTED. Makurdi to Abuja has been concluded, Makurdi to Enugu has commenced. That road that David mark never fixed as Senate President will mow become a dual standard road. Good times are here. Okay, we will all be here to observe |

MrBrownJay1: you cant blame one person for the failures of others (in the past 40yrs). this is Nigeria but that doesnt mean that they should stop building roads. i guess some presidents prefer to improve some areas rather than others. You can't come into a house with shit in the toilet and decide to build another toilet instead of flushing the shit. |

MrBrownJay1: - who told you they were not fixing the existing bad roads? - are you claiming that before building new roads, they should first fix every single bad road in the country? - cant you see that coastal highways could be an upgrade of the bad road? How would you know when you have not left southwest since you were born. Sagamu-Benin road has been under construction for more than 20 years, them no dey finish and and you want a pleasure coastal road. You are not alright |

MrBrownJay1: i understand that you have an issue with someone building such coastal highways, and will never see the need for it (even if they explain it to you as if you were a child)... while i am just admiring the various coastal highways that the OP posted. no, I don't see the need for a project that will last 20 years or may never be finished when the existing ones are a mess. I'm sure every thinking person knows that this is not rocket science. Maybe I will see the need if they start maintaining the existing roads. We are borrowing the money, we can't waste it because your likes want to play a coastal road just for the fun of it |

Please let me ask, how many road did Goodluck Jonathan or his predecessors that y'all have been hyping build?.. how many did they repair??. Hatred is bad I tell you. There's no way it will make sense to a non-sentimental person that a country with horrible internal roads is building an alternative route with borrowed money instead of fixing the existing one. It's tantamount to throwing away your dirty plates because you cannot wash them to buy new plates. You will still throw the new plates away because of your bad culture |

flokii: Were you there when the plan was designed?.. this one you're sounding very sure of what you don't know.
Arguing with you is pointless, the only bad part of this whole thing is that we won't be able to stop those criticizing the coastal highway from using it in future when it's completed.. cure yourself of hate. Bros, you are lookin for excuses. Those roads lack maintenance. You and I know this. It's common sense, any dual highway will be designed for heavy duty, even a 3 years old knows this. But if you don't maintain it, it wll collapse. What a sane broke country would have done is to rehabilitated those roads instead building another. The decision is stupid, foolish and it's not in the onterest of the people. It's tantamount to building a new toilet because of your bad habit of not flushing toilet. You will still mess the other toilet up if you don't change your ways. Just start flushing toilet and you have fixed the issue. |
Travel › Re: Some Epic Coastal Highways From Around The World by Kepukepu: 9:07pm On May 01, 2024 |
flokii: The old roads are bad.. moreover the highways were not built to handle heavy duty vehicles. You do realize that it takes 14 hrs to travel from Lagos to Abuja by road and almost 2 days to travel from Lagos to Borno right?. In the same Nigeria due to bad roads and pot holes along the highways.
You can't be wiser than your Government, applaud a good initiative and stop playing devil's advocate for your selfish interest. The raods were built to handle heavy duty traffic sir. I think you don't travel. The issue is poor maintenance. Ferma is ineffective and has not been maintaining it. Those roads have tried and lasted. Stop looking for every means to be wasteful. Without a proper maintenance culture, the costal highway (which I doubt will be completed in anither 20 Years) will collapse in no time as well. We are not paying attention to important things in this country. Before my eyes, east-west road (elele alimini section) was asphalted in 2013, come 2024, the road is still not completed. People died on that road last week enmass as a result of bad road. I can't show you pictures. Check am na, let's stop politics and reason for once. This project is a wasteful bragaddo project, no allow these politicians mess us up |

AuschwitzPrefec: Face your own .
We in SS are more happy for this project. The issue with most APC folks is that they are local and they hardly know what happens around the country. Most of you hardly leave lagos, osogbo or Ibadan. I'm telling you now that to travel to Port harcourt now from Lagos, Sagamu to Ondo state is a mess, Benin to Asaba is falling apart, Onitsha to Owerri is falling apart and even if you go through the east-west road, Benin to Warri is falling apart, Warri to Portharcourt has been under construction for more than 20 Years. I'm laugh because this is another baseless project that will beer get to Southsouth in another 20 Years. So why can't you save us the stress and fix these other roads. I'm pretty sure that they want to use it to steal money. No be political rivalry we dey talk, na facts |

flokii: Use your God-given brain, it's free of charge.
3rd mainland bridge in Lagos was built despite Eko bridge and Carter bridge already in existence linking the mainland to island.. Today most people prefer taking 3rd mainland bridge cos it's faster.
Benin- Ore route won't handle the cars, buses, tankers, trailers, container trucks etc. that will be moving from Lagos in the West to South to East to North.. common sense dictates that we have another route for ease of movement. Or do you want petrol, gas tankers to be exploding along the Benin route just to satisfy your own myopic thinking?.. remember your family members can fall victim. That coastal highway is a major game changer for Nigeria. building a costal highway when you have bad internal roads is tantamount to borrowing money to build another house because the roof of your current house is leaking. Foolish, wasteful and unthinkable. It has no logical basis unless you are bulding for fun |

The 3rd mainland bridge scenario is to decongest traffic, even at that, it's still not enough, a 4th one is needed. This scenario, no traffic, you cannot maintain the existing road, but you want to embark on another wasteful project than you will not finish. Someone with a working brain would have fixed every internal road and save money. Don't build roads for the fun of it but build what we need. |

AuschwitzPrefec: What of your Ye@st? If you put this effort demanding from Obi and other useless SE governors , maybe we will all be visiting SE every weekend for tourism and business instead of it being a glorified cemetary that it is. I'm talking about a road in Ogun state now. Sagamu to Benin is a mess. When last did you ply it? Im not here to engaging you in tribal shit, I have passed that level in life. It's pure logic, there's no way it will make sense that a broke country wants to build a new road when thy have failed to rehabilitatee the existing ones. Now even Benin to Asaba is falling apart. Oga, it's common sense. Fix all the existing roads and save some money for other things, a road we all know that they won't complete in another 30 Years. |

Slytiger: Enemy of development. No be everything be politics. Sagamu to be in has been under rehabilitation for more than 10 years now, it has not been completed. East-west road FROM Benin to Port Harcourt has been under rehabilitation since when I served in 2013, it has not been completed. Make we no dey deciece ourselves, it would have been better to spend less on rehabilitating these roads instead of building another one. I can spend can bet my last card that this road will not be completed in another 20 years. It's not like I don't want it to be completely but Nigeria has a bad culture, a country that cannot maintain a 300km existing Sagamu to Benin cannot built a 700km ocean road. |

flokii: They prefer to be asking Exxon Mobil,Shell etc. to move their Headquarters to Akwa Ibom, Delta and likes instead of having a super coastal highway that will link major towns in the South. My own joy is that it will decongest Lagos and Lagosians will breathe air of relief again. Super costal roads are good but my question is why build another roads when you poorly maintain the existing ones even as a broke nation? What's the guarantee that you will maintain the road? Have you plied Benin to Port harcourt road before, you will understand what we are saying. To me, it's foolhardy to see that sagamu to benin is collapsing, they spentore than 10 years now fixing that road but thy could not complete it. |
