CultureRe: Why Is Nigerian Society So Damn Corrupt? by kevd2: 5:43pm On Jul 04, 2008
I pity most Nigerians here that are still are living in denial and are trying to defend Nigeria by pointing to examples of corruption, it shows that we are still not ready to move forward.
Corruption is a human trait all over the world, but abroad corruption is an exception to the rule, but in Nigeria corruption is the rule. The average Nigerian glorifies and canonizes corrupt leaders by calling them smart people eg IBB-Maradona,OBJ -Maverick,Adedibu-Great Man.
Perhaps what is even worse is our indifference or unwillingness to collectively act against corruption, nobody thinks about the common general good every body is busy with his personal life and is forgetting that whatever happens in the nation affects eveyone.
Everybody is busy going to church and Mosques praying to God to do for us what we can do for ourselves.I wonder if the Civil Rights Movement would have succeded if Martin Luther King was busy praying to God for Deliverance. If we give half the commitment we have to our reigious denominations,Nigeria would have been much better.
Finnaly ,Tribalism is the major smokescreen corrutipon uses in Nigeria to thrive and the average Nigerian is so Gullible.that is why with all the atrocities that Obj has commited some people (even on Nairaland) will defend him.
What kind of precendence are we setting when we give the next leader an excuse for Failure( if Yaradua fails, the average Hausa man will defend him because Obj went free with corruption. It is a vicious circle we run and until we wake up and act collectively, then ours is a bleak future and no amount of prayers and well-wishing will change that. This my fellow Nigerians is the Bitter Truth.

PoliticsRe: Tell Us What Angers You Most In Politics by kevd2: 6:00pm On May 09, 2008
How Nigerians get fooled consistently by these politicians that are just old wine in new wineskins.somehow we always expect different results with the same approach, in this case the same old system and politicians.this is evidenced in our going to church to look for blessings that God has already bestowed on us as a nation, but is being mismanaged.
PoliticsRe: Another Edo Politician Dies On Top Of A Woman. by kevd2: 3:55pm On May 09, 2008
Mooguy, its just an emotional overeaction from a really upset Nigerian, but with the way we are going it would not be long b4 europeans start treating us like they did to the jews,u know like the scum of the earth.there re nigerians every where enduring discrimination and perpatrating nefarious activities just because we cannot put ourselves in order and develop our home, i blame our hopeless leaders invariably meaning that the blame is on all nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Another Edo Politician Dies On Top Of A Woman. by kevd2: 3:28pm On May 09, 2008
i think people from Edo state should seriously stop gloryfying or rationalizing this obsession with sex,sex trade or Toto Global trade and realize that it is not an achievement but a real shame and brings nothing but disrepute to themselves and the country as a whole.  Last week CNN did a special on the World's untold stories and Benin city  and the so called ToTo issue was the main story. and any sensible Nigerian that saw it would have found it appaling and not a laughing matter, even with that some people still want to meet their creator via toto it shows that we dont not have values and even common dignity,.sometimes i wish a Holocaust against nigerians would drive all those europe crazy pimps back home and it can happen in d near future.
