To guide against the water impurity, dissolve considerable quantity of skimmed milk in the water, this is to neutralize the likely ions or contaminant in the water.
To guide against vaccine failure as a result of source, do not patronize only one vet store, the reason why vaccination is mostly done twice is to make up for unvaccinated birds, so it becomes important to patronize at least 2 quality vet shop such that if one of the vaccines fail the other can make up for the failed one.
To guide against vaccine failure as a result of administration, you need to know that the vaccine in itself are living organisms that have been conditioned to an inconvenience mode and as such bad administration is like you are inoculating the disease into the bird's system, having known this there's the need to prepare a good disinfectant incase of spillage,take about 5 mil of skimmed milk solution and release it all into the vaccine bottle and shake to ensure that the vaccine is well dissolved then take the needed quantity according to your stock.
Dose to be administered is the number of birds u v got, if u have 250 birds don't manage 200 doses it must be complete for effective performance.
Good knowledge of the environment is vital in a successfull vaccination,birds have a deep body tempetature of 40.5-42c , coupled with the kind of hot weather we have now, it becomes very important to ensure that the water to be used is chilled such that the temperature of the vaccine is still maintained until it reaches the bird system where it is expected to dissociate and starts combating pathogens that would want to cause that disease.
It should be mentioned as well that antibiotics should not be used a day before vaccination so as not to destroy the live organisms.

Pls note dat when mixing and distributing or vaccine, there must not be any spillage on d floor ....if it spill on d floor mistakenly , then clean it up thoroughly.
If u fail to do that , because it is a live vaccine , whatever disease u r preventing with dat vaccine will generate in ur pen. If it was lasota, then Newcastle disease will take over ur pen..and u might lost few birds,but if it was gumboro , u might lost all ur birds.

i would like to ask my fellow farmers a question. how do u apply the live vaccine? apication procedure is key to prevent vaccine failure

This is how i apply live vaccine to my birds.
Assuming I have 600 birds, I will get a vaccine for 1000doses and a 2ml syringe on ground, then if my birds were taking 40ltrs of water daily, I will split into 4parts, that gives me 10ltrs, I will put this water in a bucket or in a bowl. If also I was using 10 drinkers for them, when given vaccine I will increase it to 15 or 20 drinkers.

HOW I MIX.
This is very important. Pls note that if u overdose or underdose ur vaccine might fail.

Now on my 2ml syringe, it is calibrated 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 0.9 and 1ml, so I will fill d syringe with water to d level of 1ml , I will pick up my vaccine from d ice pack and open it, then I will release the 1ml of water in d syringe into d vaccine, the vaccine that has been in a solid state will become liquid. Now the syringe is empty, so i will drag back all d liquid in d vaccine bottle into the syringe then I will release 0.1-0.6ml into the 10ltr of water. The balance 0.7-1ml will be thrown away far from .my pen.
Then distribute d 10ltrs of water carefully

I have lost 4 birds since Tuesday till today, I don't know why. all I can understand is that one was wet before I went to work and I don't know how, so I thought the lamp will warm it but it died and this evening I met 2 fresh dead and one soaked with water, making it 4 altogether. I gave them initially glucose and stress-vit and that's all. at first they all were not eating but they are gradually picking up. what have I missed and still missing . please help urgently, friends in the house

I just think the heat is not enough. the reason why some are getting wet is because they are falling into the drinker.
How many birds are they and how many drinkers are u using?
Also try and placed them on good antibiotics like doxygen and amoxycol with vitamin , all three drugs must be use together.

Well for me i will say you go for piggery,poultry is lucrative but the risks are so much. These days there are so many things to consider when running a poultry(egg [roduction).
Firstly,the hatchery were ur birds are coming from is a big factor,secondly Biosecurity matters too,thirdly management. Fourthly ,control of disease,in these area i will bring in the deep litter and the battery cage system... deep litter system is cheaper but more riskly in terms of disease dispersing,then to set up a battery cage system is high in cost but the spread of disease is low too. Fifthly ,Selling your eggs, Sales of eggs also depends on the season we are,in dry season it is very sweet and smooth,no matter were ur farm is customers will come calling at your door,but raining season is the other way round.....because you will be the one begging the customers....NA THERE YOU GO SEE CUSTOMERS WAY SABI MAKE SHAKARA...And at this period too the price might come down,and the price of feeds will remain same ,sometimes it might even increases.
Another aspect is what kind of feed do u want to use, Is it ready made product or do you want to formulate feed by yourself? they both have advantage and disadvantage. So many things to consider in egg production.
But for piggery ,it is very different,although it is a long term investment,but still i prefer it ,pigs dont die easily, and selling them is very easy.They hardly spread disease amongs themselves,even if they do,you will be able to rescue them from it before the disease takes them down completely. feeding them is easy too.
So my guy i prefer piggery. if you are going for anyone,make sure you look for someone who will put your through.
