I think it is the right move. He should be allowed to finish what he started. |
Only cowards beat women. |
Highly Commendable. Hoping to join that league in the nearest future. |
It's a welcome development. However, the policy should systematically seek to manufacture more of the vehicle parts here in Nigeria, rather than relying solely on importation. This will make us more economically self reliant and also provide more employment opportunities. The steel mills should be repositioned to adopt modern and technologically enhanced methods of steel production. This will make the production of high quality car parts here in Nigeria possible. |
Nigerian politicians deceiving the masses since 1914. |
The right thing for the pdp to do is to institute an action in court to interpret the constitution, not going about brewing up needless storms. We have sound minds in the judiciary who will be able to lay down the true position of the law. The rule of law should always take pre eminence. That is the essence of a true democracy. |
bombayz:guy u nor get job?.. if u don't have a sensible comment, can't u just shut up and remain invisible?? All these kids on nairaland sef ![]() |
With the falling oil prices, agriculture is the way to go. If we can sufficiently harness our agricultural production potentials, then i'm absolutely certain that the economy will be greatly bolstered with a less volatile and more sustainable resource. Plus the fact that employment opportunities will be greatly increased, thus helping to reduce in poverty. I just hope the government will have the will power to pursue the programs to it's logical conclusion, and not jettison it, like several other abandoned projects. |
You are talking about we needing just $5 billion to stabilize the economy. Imagine how much the $20 billion, which was lost under your watch, would have improved the economy. Stop deceiving us. It's obvious the economy is facing a downturn, and it's not just because of the falling oil prices. Any economy in the world will suffer if $20 billion is removed from it, and Nigeria is definitely not an exception. |
I still insist that banning okada in Nigeria is a bit premature. Our roads should first be put in order and alternative employment created for the okada men who shall be rendered jobless if the ban succeeds, before banning okada is even contemplated. Millions of Nigerians depend on okada as their means of survival. Not just the riders, but also the sellers, vulcanizers and repairers. It is high time the government start considering the welfare of the masses when introducing policies. After all, we have bigger problems than okada. They should concentrate on those before thinking of banning okada. |
Lovely looking couple. Happy married life to them. May their union not turn sour as that of the bride's parents. |
Billyonaire:you are the one sounding uneducated. Nigeria has a population of 170 million. That you know a few who are living in affluence, doesn't mean everybody is. You have travelled abroad and seen how life is, have u been to the villages, especially in the north, and even on the street of our cities, to see the reality of most Nigerians. Stop allowing sentiments cloud ur vision and actually look at the reality on ground. Majority of Nigerians live below the poverty line, and no matter how hard u choose to wish it away, it's still the bitter truth. |
cocoduck:See www.indexmundi.com/nigeria/population_below_poverty_line.html.on where i got my estimates from. That you are living above the poverty line, doesn't mean every one is. I don't understand the rest of what you are saying. |
chux4liv:you know there's a limit to what a Senator can do. His first and foremost task is law making before senatorial district development. But he has still tried in the area of development. I can personally attest to the fact that he gave out keke napeps to unemployed youths, thus helping to ease the unemployment saga in Ika nation. The blame for the under development of Delta north should be shouldered by Gov Uduaghan and his predecessors, who habitually neglect Delta north once they ascend office. Even the condition of Asaba is not befitting of the capital of a state on the level of Delta state. We need change! |
I don't really care about statistics. But i think it is interesting to know that, on the average, Nigeria generate 900 Billion Naira in revenue every month, from both oil and non oil sources. It is also note worthy that 70% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, which is close to 2 dollars per day. My question is if Nigeria generates such huge income every month, then how come the majority of the population is wallowing in poverty?? Really mind boggling! What is the money used for? I don't think it is for the development of this country either. Cos no electricity in my house for the past three days, the generator has been constantly up and running. The road to my house was constructed through the combined efforts of the residents of my street. Public schools are nothing to write home about. Our hospitals are ill equipped. Insecurity is the norm, not the exception..No social security e.t.c. In fact, nothing works in Nigeria. Seems the 900 billion naira is utilized in funding the lavish lifestyles of our corrupt politicians, clergymen and unscrupulous businessmen. It is high time we demand that the 900 billion naira be used for what it is actually meant to be used for. #return our 900 billion naira |
chux4liv:but he has certainly represented better than all the past Delta north senators. He is one of the most vibrant senators in the country and i believe, if given the opportunity, he will deliver the good in Delta state. |
dokiOloye:Just my opinion man. No need to start casting aspertions. I never justified their actions. All i said is that poverty is the major contributing factor to the insurgency thing. I never said that a particular group or individual caused the poverty. All I'm saying is what is, not what ought to be. |
prettyboi1989:I'm not trying to justify the cause of boko haram. What i'm saying is that poverty aids in the recruitment of boko haram members. On a proper investigation, you might find out that majority of boko haram foot soldiers may not actually understand the ideology behind the sect, as time and the demise of the founding fathers may have eroded the true principles of the sect. Majority of the foot soldiers (who actually do the fighting ) are illiterate and jobless young men, who don't mind killing others in their quest for improvement in their lives. That's why they are always ready to die, because they have nothing to live for. You talked about militants. What cause where they fighting for. Was it you and I? I tell you it was simply for their stomachs. If it was not, why then did they grab the amnesty deal with both hands, when government had not met any of their supposed demands for the emancipation of the Niger Delta. But instead decided to shut up after collecting bumper pay checks and contracts. The so called militants now cruise around in private jets, while the problems of the Niger Delta still persists. It all boils down to poverty bro. The quest for riches can make one do crazy and unimaginable things. It can make one lose all conscience. Ask the man who is ready to sacrifice his own parents all in the quest to make money. Ask the armed robbers and kidnappers on the street, who won't blink an eyelid in shooting a nine year old kid, all in the quest of making paper. Eliminate poverty in Nigeria, and the problems of this country is 80% solved. On Isis, i can't talk about them or the reason for their mindless killings. I'm not from Iraq. |
Raiders:Okowa is my choice bro. I believe he can deliver the goods in Delta state. His antecedents speak for him.I'm not forcing u to accept him though. After all, our freedom of political association is guaranteed by the constitution. We can decide to support whomsoever we choose. All the same, thanks for ur advocacy of change in Delta state. We shall move forward. |
JAZES:na u sabi. I don talk my own. |
dtruthis:guy why e dey vex u like dis nah. Abi u sef nor get job?? ![]() U nor go talk nw, make dem help u |
dtruthis: ![]() |
I'm not interested in which party wins the elections or the party that loses. All I'm interested in is that the elected polticians address the gross levels of under development in Delta state. The level of development in Delta state is unbecoming of an oil producing state. Gov Uduaghan has turned the running of the state into a family affair. Awarding contracts only to his family and friends who in turn embezzle the money without doing any thing. We don't need an Urhobo governor again. Time for Anioma to rule. Vote Sen Okowa for governor 2015 and see Delta state move forward under his stewardship. |
Na unemployment dey cause am..a hungry man is an angry man We need jobs! |
Empty vessels make the loudest noise |
To be honest, i think he has a point there. I have stayed in the north for a while and the level of poverty there is alarming. Wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few individual, while the vast majority live in nearly sub human conditions. They can hardly afford to eat once a day, talk less of three times a day. And worst of all, is the fact that most of them have little or no hope of improving their conditions as there is little or no employment opportunities. If a young man in such a condition is promised riches and an opportunity to improve on his impoverished status, on the condition that he wields arms against the government that has done nothing for him, he may find it hard to refuse. First militancy came, now insurgency. After insurgency, who knows what will come next. The root cause of these menaces can be traced to poverty. Until poverty is tackled and reduced to the barest minimum, it will be difficult for Nigeria to have a peaceful existence. As the popular cliche goes, a hungry man is an angry man. I rest my case. |
Hey bro..i want to buy 1gb for my sister.. hope she'll get it nw.. cos she dey doubt the genuineness Modified She has received it and she's really impressed. You know ur business, man. Keep it up. |
Raiders:voted where?.. I never knew that America had elections last week. Guy nor come dey deceive us here o And from the little i know about citizenship, a person who has Nigerian parents is automatically conferred with Nigerian citizenship, irrespective of whether or not he is domiciled in Nigeria.. at least that's what the law says |
Raiders:.. where did u get ur facts from?.. do u know the guy personally?.. and because a person has never been to Nigeria, does it make him any less a Nigerian? All these doubting Thomases.. i tire for una o |
itstpia1:..It's true.. google is ur friend |
A mentally unstable # Nigerian student somehow managed to jump over the fence surrounding The White House and dashed a few metres towards the building before being brought down down by guard dogs. It seems he had pressing matters to discuss with the president. ![]() http://africanspotlight.com/2014/10/23/nigerian-man-arrested-jumping-white-house-fence-photos-video/ |
