PoliticsWhy Tinubu Must Arrest, Investigate, Prosecute Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu -Abure by KEVIND(op): 7:52pm On Aug 30, 2025
Why Tinubu Must Arrest, Investigate, Prosecute Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu And Sarah Ibrahim.

The factional Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Arabambi Abayomi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to arrest, investigate, prosecute the former presidential candidate of the LP, Peter Obi.

In an open letter to Tinubu, Abayomi said the President needs to uphold the rule of law and restore public decorum.

The factional LP spokeswoman also called for the arrest, investigation and prosecution of activists, Aisha Yesufu and Sarah Ibrahim for their roles in inciting treasonable felony cyber-stalking and cyber-bullying.

He stated that he is set to file a Mandamus suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel Tinubu, as the President and Chief Security Officer of the nation, to direct relevant agencies to perform their constitutional duty of investigating the trio.

According to him, Tinubu must ensure that the same laws that protect Peter Obi from defamation are applied equally to hold him and his associates accountable for their own extensive and inflammatory statements.

His open letter read: “I am compelled to write to you today regarding a matter of grave national importance that strikes at the very heart of our democracy, the rule of law, and the dignity of the highest office in the land: the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“My attention was drawn to a seven-day pre-action letter of demand served by the legal representatives of Mr. Peter Gregory Obi on Mr. Deji Adeyanju. In it, Mr. Obi demands a retraction and apology for statements he deems defamatory, made on August 21, 2025, in which Mr. Adeyanju critiqued his political standing.

The profound irony of this action cannot be overlooked. This is the same Mr. Peter Obi who, on October 11, 2023, held a press conference in Abuja where he audaciously and publicly challenged your identity, your parentage, and the authenticity of your academic credentials. He demanded you provide personal historical details to him, orchestrating a media spectacle that caused undeniable national embarrassment and sowed seeds of doubt and discord.

“While Mr. Obi now rushes to his lawyers to protect his own reputation from criticism, his political movement has been defined by a sustained and malicious campaign of calumny against your person and office. His key allies, such as Aisha Yesufu and Serah Ibrahim, have consistently and publicly referred to your government as “illegitimate”—a blatant and seditious disregard for the final and authoritative judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria which affirmed your election.

Every day, on various social media platforms, countless individuals affiliated with Mr. Obi’s movement engage in unchecked libel, openly referring to you in the most derogatory and criminal terms without any consequence. This creates a dangerous imbalance where one political figure seeks the full protection of the law for himself while his supporters operate with impunity, eroding the sanctity of our national institutions and the dignity of the Presidency.

“Therefore, Your Excellency, I urge you in the strongest possible terms to direct the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to:

“1. Investigate and Arrest: Immediately investigate, arrest, and question Mr. Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, and Serah Ibrahim for their alleged roles in inciting treasonable felony, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying against the Nigerian state and your person.

2. Uphold the Rule of Law: Ensure that the same laws that protect Mr. Obi from defamation are applied equally to hold him and his associates accountable for their own extensive and inflammatory statements.

“3. Send a Clear Message: Demonstrate that no individual, regardless of their political status, is above the law. Nigeria must be a country where freedom of speech is respected, but where deliberate falsehoods, seditious rhetoric, and attempts to undermine the legitimacy of a constituted authority are met with the full force of the law.

“I have accordingly put my legal team, led by Barristers Anderson Asemota and Mawah Monday, on notice to file a Mandamus suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja. This suit will seek to compel you, as the President and Chief Security Officer of the nation, to direct the relevant agencies to perform their constitutional duty.

“It is time to end this era of impunity and restore respect for our nation’s leadership and institutions.”

PoliticsCourt Stops Moghalu From Parading As Labour Party Candidate In Anambra Poll by KEVIND(op): 2:29pm On Aug 28, 2025
The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has restrained Chief George Moghalu from parading himself as the guber candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the Nov. 8 Anambra state governorship election.

The interim order, issued in Suit No. FHC/AWK/CS/226/2025, followed two motions ex-parte filed by members of the Interim State Executive Committee of the Party led by Okoye Peter Chukwunulu and Jerry Nnubia.

The plaintiffs had prayed the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Moghalu, who emerged from the faction of the party loyal to the sacked National Chairman, Julius Abure.

The court, presided over by Justice Nwaukwa Ukamaka, granted the order restraining Moghalu (the 4th defendant in the suit) from further parading himself as LP’s candidate in line with the April 4, 2025 judgment of the Supreme Court which removed Abure as the party’s National Chairman.

The apex court had earlier affirmed Senator Nenadi Usman as head of the National Caretaker Committee of the party, declaring that any nominations or lists emanating from Abure’s leadership were invalid.

In its ruling, the Enugu Federal High Court also ordered INEC not to accept or process any nomination forms or electoral documents submitted by the Abure-backed State Executive Committee in Anambra, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Furthermore, the court directed that the originating summons and other processes be served on Moghalu through substituted means by pasting same at his residence in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area.

While granting the orders of substituted service, the court insisted that all parties must maintain the status quo until the substantive matter is heard.

The case has been adjourned to Aug. 26, 2025, for further hearing.

With the ruling, the battle for the Labour Party’s ticket in Anambra remains uncertain, as only candidates endorsed by the Sen. Nenadi Usman-led caretaker leadership are recognised in law.

PoliticsLabour Party Distances Self From Planned Protest At INEC Headquarters by KEVIND(op): 11:04pm On Aug 05, 2025
The Senator Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party (LP) has distanced the party from a planned protest scheduled to be held at the National Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser to the Interim National Chairman of the LP, Ken Asogwa, in Abuja, late on Tuesday, the party declared that the planned protest does not enjoy its support.

It read, “The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to an invitation circulating in certain quarters regarding a purported protest scheduled to hold tomorrow, 6th August 2025, at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“This protest is allegedly being organised by some unknown individuals purportedly operating under the banner of the Labour Party.

“We wish to categorically state that the said protest is not sanctioned by the Labour Party. The organisers are unknown to the party’s leadership, and the action lacks the approval and backing of the party.

“The public is hereby put on notice that anyone participating in or promoting this protest is doing so without the consent of the Labour Party and should be seen as an impostor.

“It would be recalled that INEC recently rejected the illegitimate list of candidates for the upcoming national bye-elections and local council elections submitted by the former chairman of the party, Barr. Julius Abure, and his unlawful group.

“The Labour Party received that decision with relief, knowing that INEC – as a responsible electoral umpire – would eventually proceed to accept and publish the authentic list submitted by the current, lawful leadership of the party.

“We urge INEC to remain steadfast and continue to disregard the desperate antics of these individuals whose tenures expired since 8th June 2023 – and whose expiration was expressly affirmed by the Supreme Court in its judgment of 4th April 2025.

“While we await INEC’s timely action in publishing the valid list of candidates submitted by the legitimate party leadership, we also call on the Commission to give full effect to the said Supreme Court ruling by updating its official portal and other platforms to reflect the correct leadership of the Labour Party in line with the court’s judgment.

“In light of the foregoing, we therefore call on all security agencies to take note: the persons planning to stage a protest at INEC headquarters on 6th August 2025 are not representatives of the Labour Party.

“They are political impersonators and mischief-makers, and should be treated as such. We call for their immediate arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.”

PoliticsADC Will Collapse In Three Months, Says Ali Modu Sheriff by KEVIND(op): 8:06am On Jul 29, 2025
Former Governor of Borno State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a fragile political experiment driven by clashing presidential ambitions.

He predicted that the party will ‘die down in three months.’

He spoke in an interview yesterday on a national television.
Sheriff laughed off speculation linking him to the ADC, stressing that the party lacks political weight, institutional structure, or staying power.

“You said people are mentioning my name, that I was going to the ADC. Wrong. Which ADC? Do they have a political party?” he asked.

“Give them three months. The party will die down because all of them are ‘presidential materials’. And it is only one person that is going to be a presidential candidate among them.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai and others are exploring the new political platform-the ADC in replicate what the APC achieved a decade ago.

According to him, unlike APC which emerged through the merger of parties with governors and national structures, ADC has no such foundation.

When we were coming to form the APC, there were almost 15 state governments involved. President Bola Tinubu came with four states. All Nigeria Peoples Party(ANPP) came with about five or six. Breakaway PDP came with four. Today, we have 73 senators, a clear majority in the House of Reps, and more than 20 states,” he said.

He described the current push within ADC as a gathering of individual presidential hopefuls with no united base or viable electoral pathway.

“They all want to be president at all costs. They have a right to aspire, but as far as this politics is concerned, they don’t exist. ADC does not exist.”
