Celebrities / Dancing in front of mosque not provocative, don’t apologise, Soyinka tells Davido by KEVIND: 10:42pm On Jul 25, 2023 |
Jaye Lo: Dancing in front of mosque not provocative, don’t apologise, Soyinka tells Davido Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has said that no apology should be offered by popular Afrobeat artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to some Muslims who are requesting that he apologise over an alleged offensive video clip posted on his social media pages last week. Recall that the DMW owner had posted a 45-second long video clip of his signee, Logos Olori’s new song, ‘Jaye Lo,’ on Friday, July 21, promoting the song ahead of the official release. The video caused controversy as it portrayed men dressed as praying mallams, dancing in front of a mosque in a scene, rather than engaging in prayer. Tribune Online reports that the ‘Fem’ crooner, after coming under heavy criticism, bowed to pressure and deleted the video on Monday. While weighing in with his view on the controversy, Soyinka in a letter released Tuesday and titled “Davido Video,” dismissed the claim that dancing in front of a mosque is an act of provocation, insisting that it is an “affirmation of the unified sensibility of the spiritual in human.” Reacting to the calls for an apology to the Muslim community by Senator Sheu Sani and some other aggrieved Muslims, Soyinka said, “It should come as no surprise that I equally and absolutely disagree with Shehu Sani if indeed, as reported, he has demanded an apology from Davido on behalf of the Muslim community. “No apology is required, None should be offered. Let us stop battening down our heads in the mush of contrived contrition – we know where contrition, apology, and restitution remain clamorous in the cause of closure and above all – justice.” more read: https://tribuneonlineng.com/jaye-lo-dancing-in-front-of-mosque-not-provocative-dont-apologise-soyinka-tells-davido/ 2 Likes |

What i hear after every election is "Igbos will suffer, teach them a lesson, they're irrelevant, no position for them, they're 5%, next time align & build bridge" etc,. Rubbish. An average Igbo man no send you ooo. I wonder when did an Igbo man begin to rely on govt appointments & patronages to succeed & survive. If a whole tribe can come out with nothing after the Nigerian civil war & became a force to reckon with in the committee of nations despite all efforts from successive govts to put them down. What do you think your none appointment of few Igbos politicians into govt will do to them now. NOTHING! When Buhari made Igbos his number one enemy for 8 years, who suffered the most among the regions & tribes in Nigeria, Was it the Igbos? Nigerians stop crying more than the bereaved! 18 Likes 2 Shares |

Now, when power is suppose to come to the South and SE, some people are saying Igbos betrayed Atiku for not voting in another Fulani man. That's greed of the highest order. The 1966 coup was tag Igbo coup because the person that spearheaded the coup was Chukwuma Nzeogwu from Delta state. I begin to wonder why was the civil war wage against the Igbos because of a crime committed by someone from Delta State. If Oil & other natural resources is found in Igbo speaking area in SS, they'll say it belong to Niger Delta but if a crime is committed by a person named Chukwuma Nzeogwu from SS, the narrative will change to "he is an Igbo man" 113 Likes 12 Shares |

Politics / A Northerner Among The Enugu State Transition Committee -Majeed Dahiru by KEVIND: 4:12pm On Apr 25, 2023 |
I am Surprised to See A Northerner Among the Enugu State Transition Committee - Majeed Dahiru A Nigerian political analyst, Majeed Dahiru, has expressed his pleasant surprise over the inclusion of a northerner in the Enugu transition committee presented by the governor-elect, Dr. Peter Mbah. Majeed noted the topic while advising the president-elect, Tinubu, against prejudice in his incoming administration. Addressing the topic, Majeed said, "Of course, Tinubu should build his administration with fresh faces and people with track records. I also agree that we want an administration built on merit and not patronage. Tinubu should not permit prejudice against inclusion, and Enugu is an example. I am pleasantly surprised to see that a northerner, Dr. Abdu Mukhtar of the AFDB, was included in the Enugu State transition committee, South East, Nigeria. He added, "We need to see some of these deliberate steps towards national integration and healing. We hope to see more of this at the center. The president-elect should merge competence with inclusion when constituting his cabinet. https://www.operanewsapp.com/ng/en/share/detail?news_id=4b803613793366abc034dc48eff606c3&news_entry_id=sed483ae230425en_ng&open_type=transcoded&from=news&request_id=share_request

Politics / A New Nigeria Can't Be Possible Without Tackling Those Who Want To Hijack Power by KEVIND: 7:55am On Apr 22, 2023 |
A New Nigeria Can't Be Possible Without Tackling Those Who Want To Hijack Power - Sheikh Khalid A respected Islamic leader, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, has shared his perspective on what needs to happen for Nigeria to overcome the challenges it has faced since the presidential elections in February 2023. Sheikh Khalid, who was recently removed as Chief Imam of the National Assembly Legislative Quarters Mosque in the FCT for giving a controversial sermon against the Presidency, expressed his views during an interview on Africa Independent Television's 'Kaakaki' program on Friday. According to Sheikh Khalid, the country cannot achieve the desired change unless a few individuals who want to take control of it by all means are stopped. He noted that Nigeria is more divided than ever after the elections. He cited his removal from the Apo Mosque after speaking out about the country's dangers in April 2022 as evidence of the situation's severity. To create a better Nigeria, Sheikh Khalid believes that the country needs to start afresh. However, this can only be possible by curtailing the ambitions of a few people who want to control the country's administration. He also mentioned the incidents that occurred in Adamawa, stating that they are a source of shame for the nation, and that the way the elections were conducted is a poor reflection of the country. In conclusion, Sheikh Khalid emphasized the importance of taking decisive action to build a better Nigeria, and called on all Nigerians to work towards achieving this goal. https://ng.opera.news/ng/en/politics/9a8579e239e34df3451539e4793b9f73

Politics / Tinubu Might Be Removed As President-elect And Won’t Be Sworn In, We APC Knows by KEVIND: 9:53am On Apr 20, 2023 |
Tinubu Might Be Removed As President-elect And Won’t Be Sworn In, We APC Already Aware –Steve Otaloro According to Steve Otaloro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Ondo State, President-elect Bola Tinubu could be removed as President-elect without being sworn in as President-elect to succeed President Buhari if convicted by an electoral tribunal. In an exclusive interview with Daily Independent, Otaloro described the 2023 presidential election as one of the best in the country and urged those upset by the election to watch it next time. He also said that Tinubu and his Vice President Kashim Shettima are the most trusted leaders of the country. According to Otaloro, Bola Tinubu has set a new growth agenda for the dear country, but if found guilty he will not assume office on May 29 and there is still speculation that the APC may overrule a court prepared ruling. He said: “Tinubu can be removed from the presidency after being elected without an oath. Our APCs know this. We have seen many governors removed from office after their campaigns were deemed improper by the courts. In this federation, power is shared among the three branches of government, and no two can usurp the power of the other. Anyone dissatisfied with the outcome or process of an election in which they participated can seek redress from the courts. https://ng.opera.news/ng/en/politics/e38a061fe1ef91cba11424bd7c9d9478 |
