Installation of structural steel in progress.
|
blink182: Sir Kez of Watnerby, can you please shed more light on this picture from the shiny material in the roof(think its the object holding the concrete floor in place), why are the columns being ruggedVery good question...The shiny material is called an air duct made of sheet metal. It is the channel through which air (both hot and cold) is distributed throughout the building. The material on the steel columns is cememtitious fire proofing that is sprayed unto the steel members. It takes 2 to 3 hours for fire to burn through this layer before getting to the steel. As a result, if the building catches fire, there is a 2-3hr period where the structure is still sound. If the fire cannot be contained within this time frame, then it gets to the steel which can melt and eventually result in building collapse. Most times, the fire is contained before that happens. |

Sorry my broda.. Just preparing for a trip to naij. Up 8 floors on both towers.. We have made progress. As you can see at the bottom of the picture, some structural steel has arrived on site. Installation of structural steel started on Friday pictures coming soon! ![]()

The 5th lift has been poured. 6th in progress.

Haribo: Eh, I'm not a dude. But it's OK. There is a certain stereotype for people in the construction industry, so I understand the assumption. Just thought I'd make a quick correction@Haribo, Sorry Oh!,, lol! You must be a very strong woman.. With regard to alternative materials, i have also considered the combination. I think the only limitation would be skilled labour, and availability of materials. Drywall, or plaster board as it is called outside the country is a product of gypsum. At this point, it would have to be imported, while cement blocks, are locally manufactured and easily available. By the way thank you for the encouraging words! [quote author=Haribo] |
@Gtrust, Sorry for the delayed response. The question about the hot press, might also be a cost issue. The central water heater requires Domestic hot water piping and domestic cold water piping, while in the italian aplication, there only one water conduit. Any addition required is made locally at the point of connection. another cost impact is electricity. the central water heater is controled by a regulator (like a thermostat) it heats the water to a certain temperature, then shuts it off. when the water cools to below the set temperature it kicks it on again and begins to heat. This means that the heater is operational throughout the day. The basic application allows you to control the use and thus may in the long run reduce electrical cost while compromising convenience. Depends on which one is more important to you, but i this for most nigerian masses, cost rules.. |
Working on my monthly draw. Burning through $$$$ like crazy!! $4.8Miliion for this month, ![]() The fourth lift has has been placed.
|
Haribo:@Haribo, Thanks for the compliments my man!! The buildiing envelope will be a combination of curtainwall and masonry. More of the former. We will be completing both the core/shell and the fit out of the building. No work in Naija my broda!! abi you get business for me? lol The major drivers in naija for material selection are cost, weather and security. It may not be realistic to adopt construction means and methods used here in nigeria without initially improving the socioeconomic environment |
Chai, Flavour na Major Mugu. I feel so sorry for him. I know this girl very well. She is the daughter of the owner of one of the nigerian restaurants in houston who by the way has a reputation of sleeping with young naija guys here. She is NO musician lmao!!!!! She actually is a bartender at one of the naija clubs in houston called Zanzibar and keeps on posting self made videos on youtube, Chei, But on the other hand, she sharp die!!! For Flavour not to see through all this , chei !!! thumbs up to her, hahahahahahahahaha |
So the elevator towers are progressing. You can observe the concrete for the 3rd lift being poured. All towers should be completed by the second week of march.
|
Oluwa4Sure:Always smiling man ![]() |
@ story addition is making progress. All slabs have been poured and we are noew starting the exterior framing.
|
@atasteve, You are very correct. Good planning is key to successful execution. We should always measure ten times and cut once, instead of measuring once and cutting 10 times. thanks for the encouraging words. |
Thanks for the compliments. The comments are encouraging. We have poured the second lift. pictures coming soon. |
The first lift of all shear wall shave been poured. Now forming the second lifts. |
Pictures please!!!!!!!!!!!! |
As you can see the first lift of the elevator tower has been poured and stripped. Moving on to the 2nd lift. Notice the three towers in the picture. They will all have to be completed before the structural steel begins.
|
2nd floor deck reinforcing,
|
Structural steel and decking is complete for the 2 story portion
|
Lost a day of work due to weather. Not encouraging!! ![]() |
The elevator towers are constructed first and then the structural steel follows. The towers shoould be completed within 14 weeks. |
Aerial view. Of the work in place so far.
|
Now the real fun begins, Formwork for one of the elevator towers is going up, There are 2 elevator towers and one stairwell tower.
|
Steel installation at the 2 story section is making progress as you can see in the pictures,
|
@Spyder880, Nice work so far, you've come a long way, I sent you an email earlier, |
The concrete walls for the elevators and the stairs will be constructed first before the installation of steel for the 10 story building begins. steel installation at the 2 story section is still in progress. Pictures coming soon! |
If its too much to explain, you could give me links to online resources. Thanks
