However, while Okusanja senior is said to have sustained injuries and unconscious, his son is believed to have been among those that died. The Okusanja family owns the MIC Caskets, a popular funeral undertakers in Lagos Island.

They are no politicians or celebs but the family are important and well loved where I come from.

SportsWhy Would Anyone Swap Mata For Rooney? by kfako1(op): 3:08pm On Jul 17, 2013
https://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/_cOoSCP6s1yxRRjP0kVrkQ--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NQ--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-GB/blogs/pitchside-europe/170713matadown.jpg

Reports claim Chelsea tabled the worst swap deal in the history of football by offering one of Juan Mata or David Luiz – plus cash – for Wayne Rooney.

Although Chelsea have since issued an official statement to deny this is the case, those initial reports sparked quite a debate over the relative merits of the players.

As with United’s initial bid for Fabregas earlier this week, let’s break down exactly why this rumoured proposal is, frankly, even more bonkers than Barcelona's ill-advised spend of 46m euros plus Samuel Eto'o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It makes no football sense

Since Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea there has been a widespread theory among the British press that Mata and Luiz do not 'fit' into the Portuguese's tactical masterplan. Mata is not physical or hard-working enough for Mou, goes the theory, and Luiz is too flamboyant for a coach who likes his defenders cynical, aggressive and completely focused on the dark art of limiting creativity.

However, Mourinho is a big fan of statistics. And the statistics from last season show Mata to have been incredibly effective, creating a whopping 91 chances in the Premier League alone, which puts him fifth overall but comfortably top in terms of minutes per opportunity due to Rafael Benitez's rotation policy. He also topped the assists charts with 12 in the league, and an incredible 28 in all competitions.

Additionally, all the evidence points to Mata being indispensable to Chelsea. He has been their player of the year in both his seasons at the club, and has publicly insisted that both he and Chelsea want to continue their relationship.

Luiz, meanwhile, saw his stock rise greatly after proving himself as an excellent holding midfielder, while cutting out the errors when featuring as a centre-half. His excellent work for Brazil during the Confederations Cup would surely have shown Mourinho that he can work with this player, and has interested the likes of Barcelona.

It makes no economic sense

Mata alone is worth more than Rooney. The Spaniard is widely regarded as being one of the best players in the Premier League, and having over-delivered following his move from Valencia.

Rooney, meanwhile, has seen his career stall as fitness, form, behaviour and focus have all been questioned. Rooney, 27 and apparently past his physical peak, is worth approximately £20m in pure football terms, and possibly an extra £10m due to his marketability. Mata joined Chelsea for £23.5m two years ago, has improved, is 25 and is a consummate professional. He is arguably worth £40m+.

Luiz, meanwhile, is a defender, so however highly one rates him he will be worth less than Mata. Again though, he is not worth £10m less than Rooney.

https://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/2Sw6YFse6.ZrRN4ruWRMhA--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NQ--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-GB/blogs/pitchside-europe/Mata_Rooney_Luiz_1707_1024.jpg

In conclusion...

However we decipher Mourinho's intentions with both Mata and Rooney, this type of offer seems highly unlikely. Roman Abramovich of course has a history of throwing cash about, but the numbers simply do not add up for a Mata-Rooney swap, and certainly not with Chelsea offering additional cash.

A Luiz-Rooney swap, however, could be justified economically, although exchanging a player whose career is on an upward trajectory for one who appears to be on a negative gradient seems unusual in football terms.

One thing we have not considered is the provenance of such a story.

Manchester United apparently leaked details of their strange offer for Cesc Fabregas on Monday, and there are various theories as to their motivation. There is nothing to suggest this report is not mischief making – from Chelsea or United, who could be annoyed with Mourinho's open courting of Rooney and seeking to destabilise Mata, who would solve their creativity problems in one fell swoop.

Certainly a Mata-Rooney swap would benefit United more than Chelsea. If such a transfer is indeed an option, Moyes would do well to gobble it up and send the likes of Nani and Ashley Young down south for good measure.

Do you think Chelsea would be insane to swap Juan Mata for Wayne Rooney? Would David Luiz be a more reasonable bait for United? Have your say below.

Nothing would stop his pursuit — not even the trees and lamp post that he bumped into along the way.

The youngster eventually clambered aboard a motorbike, reached the coach door and boarded the vehicle to a standing ovation from the Arsenal players.

The plucky fan's hard work paid off as he met and posed for pictures with all of his heroes, including boss Arsene Wenger.

FamilyMarriage: Love Is Gone For One In Four by kfako1(op): 1:31pm On Jul 11, 2013
Do the vows "till death do us part" still apply? Research finds many Brits are trapped in marriages because of money or children.
https://media.skynews.com/media/images/generated/2013/7/11/247658/default/v1/165481197-1-522x293.jpg

Many married couples are trapped in loveless marriages and are only sticking together either for the sake of the children or for financial reasons, a survey has found.

The study of more than 2,000 people revealed that one-quarter of husbands and wives admit they are not "in love" with their partner.

And the same number admitted they only stay together for the sake of the children and would consider separating once the children leave home.

One-third wished it had worked out with someone else instead, while one in five admitted that they have been unfaithful.

The research by lawyers Slater and Gordon also revealed that one in six wish they had not got married in the first place.

But almost half still said that getting married was the best thing they ever did and three-quarters said they would still wholeheartedly advise young people to get married.

For unhappy couples, arguments over money, sex and spousal control were given as the main reasons cited for the breakdown in relationships.

Finance was the number one reason, the survey found.

One in five said they would end their marriage if they could guarantee they would be comfortable financially.

However, husbands and wives gave different reasons for staying in a loveless marriage.

The number one reason to stay for women was that they would be unable to sustain themselves financially in the event of a split.

Men said the negative impact a divorce would have on the family was their main reason for not leaving.

The whole of Europe was transfixed when Real Madrid went up against Manchester United in the Champions League last month.

Real came out winners of that encounter, comfortably outplaying United - and now the Spanish giants have picked up another major victory over their Mancunian rivals.

That's because Real have now stolen Manchester United's top spot in the Forbes list of the world's most valuable football teams.

United had held top spot since business analyst Forbes started compiling the list in 2004, but have now been overtaken for the first time by the Madrid giants.

Barcelona are in third place and Arsenal fourth ahead of Bayern Munich in fifth place.

https://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/vMOVpdbOkDDL.rd4QyeNJA--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NQ--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-GB/blogs/world-of-sport/forbeslist120391782047124.jpg

The Premier League shows its financial muscle with seven teams in the top 20; the Bundesliga and Serie A both have four sides; Spain has only Real Madrid and Barcelona; France also two; and Brazil has one.

Real Madrid are valued at £2.15 billion, making the Spanish club the most valuable sports franchise in the world, with United not far behind on £2.07bn.

Barcelona, on £1.7bn, are the third most valuable sports club in the world - the New York Yankees are the biggest non-football team at £1.5bn, just ahead of the Dallas Cowboys at £1.4bn.

Forbes said in a statement: "This is the first time since Forbes began valuing soccer teams in 2004 that Manchester United is not number one on the list.

"Real Madrid has been consistently delivering the highest revenues of any football team in the world, despite an intense economic meltdown in Spain.

With superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch, and coach Jose Mourinho on the bench, Real Madrid has thrived under the leadership of billionaire president Florentino Perez.

"According to this year's football valuations, the top 20 teams are worth an average of $968 million (£634m), an increase of 26% over last year.

"Forbes' team values are enterprise values (equity plus debt) that are based on multiples of revenue that teams garner from television, premium seating, media, licensing, merchandise and concessions."

David Beckham still tops the list of highest-earning players with earnings of £33m, £29m of which came from endorsements.

Real Madrid's Ronaldo is second with earnings of £28.8m while Barcelona's Lionel Messi is in third place with a total of £26m last year from salary and endorsements.

David Beckham will be the best-paid footballer in the world for the 2012-13 season, according to a list published by France Football magazine.

Former England star Beckham, who joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain from Los Angeles Galaxy on a five-month deal in February, will have earned around 1.7 million euros in salary for the season, plus a similar amount in bonuses.

Beckham famously waived his salary to join PSG, with the club instead donating the money to a local charity.

But including money earned at LA Galaxy, he will make a whopping 36m euros overall, as endorsements and other forms of external revenue dwarf his playing wages.

Four-times FIFA World Player of the Year Messi, meanwhile, takes home a 13m euro annual salary but makes a lot less than Beckham in endorsements, with his overall package totalling around 35m euros.

Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo is third on the list, with a total of 30m; he earns slightly more than Messi in wages, but has a smaller endorsements package, probably on account of his Portugal national team having a lower profile than Argentina, and Real Madrid's tendency to take a greater share of image rights revenue.

While none of the top five high earners play in the Premier League, six of the top 20 turn out for English clubs - the highest of any league, with Spain's Liga second (five players).

The world’s best paid coach is Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho (14m euros), who comes in ahead of PSG’s Carlo Ancelotti (12m) and Marcello Lippi, who earned 11m euros when coaching China’s Guangzhou Evergrande in 2012.

Most surprisingly is the appearance of Kenny Dalglish in fifth, with an estimated salary of 10m euros. Dalglish was sacked by Liverpool after a poor league finish, but he did win the League Cup.

France Football magazine has published an annual rich list for the past 15 years, although many of their figures are based on estimates.

The fact is most Nigerian look back and work hard. Many do jobs the wont do in Nigeria mainly because they know how many people depend on the income. Still many laugh at them back home.

The reason we have such high rate of money sent back home is simply because of the values we have in family which is binded with love.

So brothers and sisters let us continue to help one another and show love to our families and friends home and abroad.

Former-footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse went to extraordinary lengths to put a Twitter user who abused him in his place.

The 32-year-old, who switched to boxing in 2006, lost his English light-welterweight title to Shayne Singleton on a points decision on Friday night.

He subsequently received taunts from ‘Jimmyob88’ a Twitter user who described Woodhouse as a ‘disgrace’.

Woodhouse, angered by the jibes, asked his followers if they could help him locate the user in real life, offering a £1,000 reward for information.

Having discovered he lived in Sheffield, Woodhouse set off and drove around 70 miles to find him, even tweeting a picture of the street he believed Jimmyob88 to live in.

“Right Jimbob, I’m here,” Woodhouse tweeted, “Someone tell me what number he lives at or do I have to knock on every door #itsshowtime.”

Although he didn’t end up actually meeting the troll, Woodhouse settled for simply giving him a serious scare.

“Just had a call from somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody and @jimmyob88 has asked what he can do to make me go away!”

The user himself was also chastened, tweeting the boxer to say: “I am sorry it’s getting a bit out of hand, I am in the wrong I accept that.”

But the incident quickly became a talking point on Twitter, with Woodhouse drawing praise from an unlikely source in Joey Barton.

“I'm not an advocate of violence but what @woodhousecurtis has just done is hilarious!” Barton wrote, before telling him “You’re my hero.”

Lennox Lewis and John Prescott were also among the people who tweeted their amusement at the events.

And Woodhouse himself was able to see the funny side, adding afterwards: “Just found out you can block people!! Could have let me know earlier, I could have saved 20 quid in petrol!”

His first job for Obama was as the driver of a press van, and he rose up the ranks through the 2008 campaign, and then the White House press office, to become the National Security Council spokesman.

Now leaving the White House to open a political communications firm with the president's departing speechwriter Jon Favreau, Vietor says it's been the privilege of a lifetime to work for the president.

"It's been kind of a front seat at some historic events--killing bin Laden, ending the Iraq war, a whole bunch of things--so it's been extraordinary," Vietor says.

The longtime Obama staffer says it's not without some sadness that he moves on, recalling a recent conversation he had with the president.

"I said 'Sir, you know, talking about it, and I feel it's a little sad to be leaving,' and he was like 'what do you mean sad for you?' he said, 'it's sad for me! You guys are you know, ditching me'," Vietor recalls to Politics Confidential of his conversation with the president. "But you know I think he's excited. The turnover is good for the administration, for him, get some new faces in there, new energy."

Of all the memories that Vietor takes with him, his best was being with then-candidate Obama when he won the Iowa caucus in the 2008 campaign.

"We went to a caucus location that day, I went with him. We saw these huge lines of people out to vote, or caucus," Vietor recalls. "You could sort of feel there was a palpable sense, there was something building you know we were getting calls in from all the people in the field about the numbers they were seeing, and it was, you know, the culmination of a year-long process to build this grassroots campaign. It was extraordinary."

While his best memory came from the 2008 campaign, so did his worst.

"The worst day I would say would be, uh you know, a good three months worth of primaries after New Hampshire. Uh, those were tough," says Vietor.

Nairaland GeneralThe Amazing Card Stacker - Bryan Berg by kfako1(op): 2:03pm On Feb 22, 2013
Bryan Berg is a professional "card stacker," who builds houses of cards on a very large scale.
Trained as an architect, Bryan Berg is the only known person to make a living building structures with freestanding playing cards.
He uses no tape, glue, or tricks, and his method has been tested to support 660 lbs per square foot.
Berg has stacked cards for corporate special events, public relations campaigns, and science and children's museums
in many cities in the U.S. , Canada , Europe, and Asia .
Berg's clients have included Walt Disney World, a Lexus commercial, Procter & Gamble, American major league baseball and hockey, and the San Francisco Opera among others.

He also participated in a music video by The Bravery, playing a lonely man who builds a fantasy world out of cards.
In 2004, Guinness created a record category for World's Largest House of Freestanding Playing Cards to recognize a project Berg built for Walt Disney World, a replica of Cinderella's Castle.
In 2010, the record was beaten by himself, using 4,051 sets of cards, over 218,000 cards, and built in 44 days, a replica of the Venetian Macao.
