i guess you meant not eligible. To be eligible, dial *440*440#, you'll receive a msg confirming your eligibility. Then try the code(*440*161#) again.

Nocci: Guys, has anyone of you noticed that Gionee p2 sometimes malfunctions? It deletes contacts on its own and then you have to either call to find out your contacts or wait for them to call you... That's really bad.. So my advice stay away from chinese phones as much as you can but if you don't have a choice then go for one with a higher quality. "Low budget phones are terrible"

The reason why you experienced that was because you didn't copy your contacts from sim to phone.

Here is how i did mine:
first of all, i backed up the stock rom using cwm(please don't ask me what cwm is). To do this, scroll down to 'backup and restore' and click on it, then click on 'backup', then scroll down to where 'yes' is and click on it. wait till the process is completed. CONGRATS, you've successfully backed up your rom.
on to the next one:
Now to install the custom rom; place the rom in your SD card, also make sure the camera patch is also available, you can place it in the same folder with the custom rom.
Now, boot into recovery mode, then
1. wipe factory/reset
2. wipe cache
3. goto advanced mode and wipe dalvik cache
4. wipe battery stats
5. clear system (note: when i tried installing xolomix rom, it got stuck at the green animation because i didn't perform this action, i don't know if it's necessary or not in the flashing of this rom but i did it, hence, successful installation)
6. After 1-5 has been successful, then go back and click on 'install zip from sd card', then click 'choose zip from sd card', locate the rom and install. after successful installation, go back and install the camera patch the same way you installed the custom rom but this time, don't wipe anything, after successful installation, click 'reboot system'
7. Enjoy your new rom that is, if and only if you follow the steps carefully.

Like all developers(though I'm not one) would say, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE ON YOUR PHONE.

i recommend gionee p2, the only ish it has is poor sound quality and lack of 3g switching between Sims. However, the two problems have been solved by a custom rom.

Almuhsin: go to ur play store and download Amazing Flash light. It works in background and on lockscreen. B4 that,goto settings in ur Google Play app>then tick 'Auto add widgets of new apps on homescreen'. That will enable u to switch on the torch from ur homescreen.

i downloaded one yesterday but it didn't function like the default torch in which you can switch it on when on lockscreen by holding the 'vol down' key.

you make me laugh.. you did it just once or twice and you are complaining, i wonder what would have happened if you happen to be a physics student like me. This is my 3rd year in physics department,lasu and i can boldly tell you that physics to me is peanut, though i had some difficulties in some courses but after hard study, i overcame. It all comes down to how prepared you are for the course. I wish all the freshers success in their various courses.
