mags5222: I suggest you research the gulla wars. Black folks freed other black folks from slavery. The civil war had nothing to do with us. I'm very proud of my people. Not all were slaves you know. So we have a very interesting history. The US knows that not all of us were slaves thus they won't give us any reparations because of this fact.

Also alot of whites were slaves, this is hidden history that many people don't discuss and when white folks do discuss they use it as a tool against black folks and claiming we should stop crying about slavery. it isn't that black folks are crying about slavery. they are really mad over jim crow and black code laws.

Yes everyone knows there were free blacks, and I know the civil war wasn't about slavery but the enslaved blacks were freed after it ended stop trying to deny this part of history.

Some whites were servants mostly the Irish, who had to work untill they paid off their debts, which could be years, but no way were they slaves in the sense as our ancestors were. They weren't in bondage because of the color of their skin, they weren't born into slavery only to die in it. Two totally different situations.

I dont even blame countries like sweden,norway or denmark for being strict AND racist. on my visit to sweden and norway and most of the scandinavian countries ,everywhere looks very neat and clean and in order. you get arrested or fined for littering. not a single pin on the ground.buses and trains arrive on time .

sometimes I regret being black . i've also been to paris, china and dubai . the black problem is the same everywhere .we are simply disorganized ,and the african leaders aren't helping matters .
ever wondered why sweden is more peaceful and progressive? because they don't have many blacks and other minorities there . go to paris an see how congolese and cameroonian immigrants black people live and behave like animals . it's a shame .

KidStranglehold: As a person who is part African American, saying that African Americans do not have no culture is extremely ignorant. African Americans do have a culture and it did not really lose its African influence, and became "white-washed". The thing is African Americans unlike most of the diaspora descend from Sahel West Africans and not Bantu's(even DNA studies agree). What he is saying is that AA's came from a different African culture than other blacks of the diaspora.

^^^^To reiterate he is saying that just because AA's do not have the drum or anything like that doesn't mean they "lost their African culture". But AGAIN they came from a different African culture. And its true. AA culture is still African if you really think about. One has no look no further than the Blues which is the ANCESTOR to MOST MODERN American music. Not only music, but food(rice), dancing, etc.

But we should note that even though AA's share a common origin in the South; AA's are still diverse and so their culture is diverse. AA's in the Northeast will have a different culture from AA's in the west, vs AA's in the midwest and finally AA's in the South. I doubt AA's in the west coast practice family reunions like AA's in South. But we should note that most AA's live in the South, which is really their "homeland". The south is also where AA's are the most "cultured".

So yes AA's DO have a culture. But its large, diverse and complex.

I cosign you, but for your information we AAs on the west coast do celebrate our family reunions, as a matter of fact my family just recently celebrated ours, I talked about it in my posts.
