Apart from keeping your computer safe and your internet connection secure, don’t you think it is necessary to protect, secure and prevent your personal files, important data and information on your computer from getting lost? Files and data loss is one of the most common problem faced by many computer users including the pros. Due to neglect and carelessness, many users lose tangible information, substantial and useful files on their computer. No matter how smart you may be, if your files and data are not backed up and secured the right way, there is no way you wont lose them, unless these steps are put into work.

#1. Use Windows Backup.
System backup is one of best and important features on Windows Operating Systems, it simply let you select and backup some important data and files on your computer. Any backed up files and folder can be successfully restored back if something goes wrong with your computer but it’s painful that many computer users only remember this feature after their important files might have been lost already. To back up the files & data on Windows XP, go to my Computer> right click on your hard drive and select>Properties>Tools> click onBackup Now> and follow the next steps properly. After the drive is successfully backed up, any time something happens to your files, you can restore them back from your backup.
For Windows 7 users, this detailed guides hould help and if you’re using Windows 8, go to Control Panel and search for Windows 7 File Recovery where you can set up a backup.

#2. Use CloudStorage.
To ensure the safety of your files, you can think of saving or uploading some of your important files online, there are many ways or sites that allow you to upload your files and you can restore it back anytime you want. I use Google Drive mostly with more than 10+ GB available space and also Hotfile. You can do little more research on the best cloud storage to use that fits your need. Sometimes some sites require you to pay for unlimited available space but with Google Drive, Skydrive and a few others, it’s is free with limited available space. Additionally I use my email to save some little files like pdf, txt and picture files in draft.

#3. Updated Antivirus.
No doubts, virus attack is one of the major causes of data loss.File damage and corruption is a good example of the dirty work of Trojan Horse and worms but having an updated antivirus is only best way to prevent you from such malicious viruses. Viruses are discovered every single day, no matter how you scan your system with outdated version of antivirus it can only see virus that it knows about but having updated antivirus will help your antivirus to scan and detect any available virus on your computer before it can do any damage to your files, data and your computer as a whole.

#4. File Recovery Software.
There are lots of software programs that help you recover any files on your computer. I must tell you that these kind of programs don’t produce good and accurate result but it is good to have them right by your side because anytime something terrible happens to your computer leading to loss of valuable data, having these kind of software might really help you to save the day.

#5. Using CDs, DVDs and external hard drives.
This is another useful way to keep your files safe from being lost. It’s alright to have your stuffs right there on your hard disk but at times, a crashed hard drive can be catastrophic. This is why it’s important to burn your important files to CDs and DVDs and keep them somewhere safe place. Most people fail to see the need to use and external storage device but this is wrong.

Well, your IP address is the major lead that can give others access to your online privacy and one of the very best method to prevent your IP being known is to change it with one of these steps I’m going to share with you.

1. Virtual Private Network.

Abbreviated as VPN, Virtual Private Networks are are premium tools that change your IP address automatically as soon as you set it up on your computer. Not all these VPN programs are free, to use most of them you must subscribe to the service with a little amount. For better performance with a VPN provider, a paid service is worth it. I have been using VPN for more than 2 years now and it has been helping a lot Here are the list of VPN you might consider using: PDProxy, HMAProxy, YourFreedom, Sandwich, etc.

2. Manually Change your IP.
To be able to browse securely and anonymously, like I suggested you must get your real IP address changed. to search for IP addresses for a specific location go to hidemyass.com ,there are lots of sites where you can look for proxies but I always use hidemyass.com. Now I will briefly show you how to change your IP address manually. On Firefox, click on Tools > Options > click on Network tab > Settings > click on manual Proxy Configuration > enter your Proxy and Port in the space provided and click OK
Note: The above steps on how to change IP was taken using Mozilla Firefox, however other browsers too have similar steps but you can check this post for full detailson that.

3. Web Proxy.
There are many sites online in which changing of IP to an anonymous location is their main service or among their services. You can use this free proxy to surf anonymously online, secure your internet connection, hide your internet history, protect your online identity and more importantly, hide your IP address. I’m not giving 100% assurance in using online proxy sites to access restricted site and to change IP as sometimes those free web proxy are usually messed up and don’t give desired results. Here are short list of aeb proxies I have used so far: hidemysass.com, armyproxy.com.

4. Free Proxy Software.

Just like VPN programs, there are also free proxy software you can use to browse securely and anonymously and to hide your identity online. After you have successfully installed one on your computer,connect normally to internet, and connect your free proxy software to change your ip and browse anonymously and securely. You may need to manually change your browser settings before you can get these programs to work though. Here are the lists of Free Proxy I can recommend: Vidalia Tor, Hotspot Shield, Ultrasurf,and lots more.

5. Browser Addons or Extensions.

Internet usage is getting a lot easier and better! Browsers add-ons and extension can also be used to change your IP address. There are lots of Mozilla and Google Chrome Add-ons & extension to change your IP address, this is a very easy task to do, you just need to install the add-ons or extension on your browser to get your IP address changed. Examples are Anonymox for Mozilla and Hidemyass for Chrome.

Ahh.. The iPhones. Attention grabbers, status symbols and what not. People love to own it, flaunt it and use it. The features and details of the iPhone are such that the more you know about it, the more you feel like purchasing it. It is not only the case of purchasing an iPhone, but talking about it is also the in thing. Rumors, news and what’s new in iPhone series are sought after by people.
From the day iPhone 5S was launched discussions started on what next. Finally, Apple is almost ready with the new in the series phone. It is said that Apple has organized a big media event on the 9th of September and it is most likely to unveil iPhone 6S in that event.

Microsoft filed a case against Samsung Electronics in a US court over breach of contract.

The lawsuit accuses the Samsung of not paying for cross-licensing of technology.
Samsung defenders are already chanting their battle songs as they are been drawn to war with Microsoft in court. Both parties have dug their trenches in the court as they prepare to exchange legal artilleries in the court of law.

Microsoft accuses the South Korean company (who are the leading Android device makers having one in every four Android device) of contract infringement. The dispute involves technology included in Android, the Google operating system for mobile phones and tablets.
“After becoming the leading player in the worldwide smartphone market, Samsung decided late last year to stop complying with its agreement with Microsoft,” said David Howard, deputy counsel for Microsoft’s in an online post.

Microsoft owns patent rights over designs like multiple windows in a Web browser which are now believed to be paraded in Samsung without appropriate financial acknowledgements. Operating from a 2011 deal, Samsung pays undisclosed amount to Microsoft for each tablet and Android phone it successfully sells.

“We will review the complaint in detail and determine appropriate measures in response,” a Samsung spokesperson said.
