Both ASUU n Fg are not being fair on us here. ASUU:they know fully well dat they've not been working for 4mths+ now yet they want dia whole salaries@once not evn to b paid bit by bit(wanna boss dia boss fg)to prove wat nau.if they are humans they should knw dia salaries will b paid but not @once. FG:I don't see wats new in d implementation of d 100bn funding already promised since dats d only way to convince ASUU they are for real dis tym arnd nd for dia salaries I beliv Fg must hv seen it coming. KANO – The leadership of the Academic Staff Union
of Universities, ASUU, National Executive Council,
weekend, met in Kano. The secret meeting,Vanguard
gathered lasted from Friday night to Saturday
morning.
However, at the end of the meeting, lecturers were
not forthcoming with the outcome, which sources say
was borne out of the promise made to President
Goodluck Jonathan during his intervention by the
union to inform the president of their decision before
going public.
It was learnt that the NEC meeting which attracted
‘fair representation’ from over 50 universities was
held at Mambayya House. Vanguard gathered
lecturers were divided on the issue of suspension of
the over 5months strike.
The Universities lecturers were conveyed to the venue
of the secret meeting in two Coaster buses, secured
by the union’s Kano chapter, in order to avoid the
attention of the press and public.
A competent source close to ASUU told Vanguard in
Kano that “we still have 40 – 60 percent situations
here after the meeting; the resolution from the north
favours the call off while their peers from the South
strongly support the continuation of the strike”.
The source further revealed that “however , we were
able to take a middle course that would be pleasant to
Nigerians, but that will not be discussed now at the
public domain until we meet Mr. President in line
with our last discussion”.
Effort to reach Dr Nasiru Fagge, the national
President of ASUU was abortive as he failed to pick

Now this is where SUG in our uni should step in if they were to b trusted and still of worth but they've all lost dia powers to money and politics.nevertheless ur friend has been in skul for 3yrs now lyk u said,she should @least know someone who she can trust among d academic or non academic staff dat can give her a listening ear but if not she should try out the guildiance and counseling unit mayb they can help out since they work closely with skul senate in cases lyk this.She also need to pray hard God never sleeps and will never let his children suffer in d hands of Devils lyk dat lecturer.

KANO – The Academic Staff Union of Universities,
ASUU, Wednesday suspended indefinitely its
National Executive Council meeting over the sudden
death of its former national Chairman, Prof. Festus
Iyayi who died in a fatal auto-crash along Lokoja –
Abuja federal Highway Tuesday.
Prof. Festus Iyayi,66, died after the vehicle he was
travelling in had a head-on collision with a security
vehicle attached on the convoy of Kogi State
Governor, Captain Idris Ichala Wada at a village
near Lokoja .
Iyayi was on his way to Kano for the National
Executive Council meeting.
