So how did they get his card details? Cos his details must be entered on the sportyfy website first before we start talking about OTP.

Sir, thing is, we were just together gisting on Saturday... No online transaction done. In fact the phone were on the table. Next thing we saw was OTP mssage, then a flashing from that number and debit alerts started entering. All in less than 2 minutes. As I said, it's difficult to convince anyone on this. But that's just it.
No card exposure, no OTP given out.

Oga!

DON'T ALWAYS FEEL YOU KNOW EVERYTHING!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, THEY CAN WITHDRAW YOUR MONEY WITHOUT OTP.

BESIDES, THAT CALL THAT CAME THRU TO HIS PHONE IS CALLED "PHISHING CALL" IT WAS USED TO BYPASS THE OTP.

You know absolutely nothing Mr. Ogogoro drinker! cheesy

Thank you for this. Afterwards, we tried calling back that number and we were told "the number does not exist"

It's not hard to believe. It's an outright lie.

Aslong as OTP was sent, you need that OTP to completwe the transaction. It's a must.

Tell you what? The person involved is a security personnel. So you know he's not ignorant to this thing. You should argue and leave a "what if" option. Not concluding summarily. I'm bringing this here because it beats my imagination and I can't come up with any possible explanation to how those guys did that!

Stop telling stupid lies. You fool!

His money can only be withdrawn if they got the OTP sent to him. No other way.

They didn't flash your friend, they called him and he foolishly handed over the OTP to the fraudster.

That's the problem. It's hard to believe that the OTP wasn't called out to the said fraudster. The whole thing happened like a magic, and in less than 2minutes.

Also, you can pass your comments without insult!

 S. O. S

My friend's account got emptied on Saturday by a fraudster using SPORTYPAY platform. An OTP was sent to him and immediately an unknown number flashed him. Shortly afterwards he started seeing debit alerts even without given out the OTP.

Getting to his bank today, he's been told the possibility of getting the money back is slim if not impossible.

Now, checking out the SPORTYPAY site, we discover that they don't have a standard or working platform, while Sportypay.ng automatically redirects to a porn site...

Also, there have been similar complaint online about same thing happening and same platform used to defraud other people of their hard earned money.

CONCERNS:
Are customer's money still safe in the banks?
Is it that the security network in the banks are now porous and vulnerable to cyber attacks?

Please those in appropriate authority should do something about this before it goes beyond control and possibly cause unwarranted depression and death at worst.

Lol. Unrelated, I want to call.out the hypocrisy of Righteousness89. He was on a group, with the stand that a 26 or 34 year old man can be beaten by his father. In this process, he insults, disrespects and disregards countering opinions. He's the quintessential Nigerian Christian. Seeing evil in everyone but themselves. A prostitute will probably make heaven before such people. And he should know his actions there will convince more people to look critically at religion, despite his family ramblings.

To the people supporting this psychotic person, I say well done o. Keep propping up a dysfunctional and obsessed person using religion to cover their bigotry.
You got this wrong. That wasn't the original RIGHTEOUSNESS89... Check the spellings and you'll see the difference. Open your eyes wide

He deserves a pass sef. Mascom student writing like and engineering student. Smh.

Well, I'm afraid you're getting it all wrong with respect to your shot at the engineering discipline. You should at least stop imposing the negative image you possibly heard from somewhere on us, even to the point of generalizing it . Obviously the current generation of engineering students have secured a higher spot in the lexical ladder more than some of the students from other faculties ... I am proud of my discipline and school.
