stagger: What were the sample groups?
The last large-scale sentinel study used the groups at highest risk as the source of its sample population. Moreover, there will be differences from state to state due to several social factors. Typically, HIV prevalence is lowest in areas where strict Islamic practices are in place. Morocco, Algeria, etc have less than 0.5% national prevalence rates. There are numerous population-based studies to corroborate the above, likewise lots of systematic analysis and meta analysis studies The prevalence of HIV in Lagos State, Nigeria, is estimated to be around 1.4% among adults aged 15-64, according to Sage Journals. While this is slightly lower than the national average, Lagos is still a high-burden state,The 2024 NDHS findings also corroborate the above. Science is evidence evidence-based. 75% haba. There is no where in the world with this prevalence, not even East and Central Africa. Like I said science is evidence based not fabrication or hearsay. |

laivwire: Dey there: That's for only those who get tested. Simple logic shows that illicit sex with a partner you can't vouch for exposes you to the danger of literally sleeping with maybe 50 people. What are the odds one of them doesn't have it. Slim.
Yes, there are ARVs but at this rate when so many people start lookng for the meds, you would be at the mercy of the government for your life. Go and see how PLWHA people are queueing in hospitals because their lives depend on it. Its medication for life and you can't afford to skip the dose for a single day no matter where or what you are doing. If the virus doesn't kill them, hypertension will.
An elder who is really close to me had to undergo surgery recently for an unrelated illness so they ran multiple tests on him and yes, he was positive. I saw the results live and I almost fainted.
Lets be careful. The level of damage of this thing would soon show in a few years from now. Science is evidence-based and not beer parlor talk. Science is not based on "I think or I've seen" but verifiable evidence based on research and hard facts. |

She should provide empirical evidence that can be referenced
No be by word of mouth
Data from a research published in The Lancet shows Benue has the highest prevalence with (5.7%), Rivers (5.2%), Akwa Ibom (3.5%), Edo (3.4%), and Taraba (3.0%) and this is supported by data from different source. |

MufasaLion: I don't like people bringing personal life to social media but however, nothing will happen to her and the kid. You watch too much Nollywood. Toor much Nollywood abi. It's ok. There is a Yoruba proverb that goes thus: "ti isu eni bata aman dawo bo je ni." I want to believe our elders knew what they were saying in that proverb. |

Business › Re: We Will Keep Crashing Rice Prices,’ BUA Chairman Rabiu Warns Hoarders by kingamaa(m): 9:34pm On May 16, 2025 |
tasalanoni: It takes irreversible madness to support Tinubu and anything APC but I'll attempt to educate you a little on this particular issue. The recent drop in prices got absolutely nothing to do with your dead local policy of duty waiver. It was largely the result of international forces in the rice trade, especially India. Before now, India enacted a 20% duty on rice exports in a bid to discourage exports and ensure local sufficiency. This policy combined with the weak Naira made imports into Nigeria very unattractive. Coupled with our local production insufficiency, prices skyrocketed. Last year, the monsoon season made India and several other rice producing countries witness very high yields that hadn't been seen in nearly a decade, and consequently, prices crashed. To protect local farmers and stabilize prices, Indian lifted the 20% duty on exports and Nigeria took advantage of the waiver and flooded the market. But it's a shortlived respite because India has re-enacted the duty. Expect prices to start soaring again in the coming months. Thanks for the information but let's enjoy the low prices while it last. There is hope for Nigeria even with this APC government. It's not all gloomy. |

shortgun: They are still playing politics of propaganda. BUA chairman should provide contact of his warehouse or store where Nigerians will buy 50kg rice for 60k. Rice is still selling for over 80k. Nonsense I bought 50kg of rice for 58k in Ilorin 3 days ago. Stop the lies and propaganda. Go to any market in the SW price of rice is around 60k. Photoshoping bags of rice and attaching price tags to them to paint the government bad is wickedness. BAT will succeed and Nigeria will be great again whether you like it or not |
