Zahra29: Hey,I am unable to retrieve your message. Please drop your email here (I'll be on the lookout and you can delete it as soon as I've noted it) and I'll message you I am cocerned about fee waiver application for the kids. A lawyer said with enough evidence it could be considered, though she wasn't given me 100% assurance of it being accepted. That's fair enough. My concern is that you mentioned 'deception' should be avoided. Honestly without anyone borrowing me the money, I genuinely cannot afford the fees for the kids. I read about the UKVI considering the best interest of the child in making decision for fee waiver applications. Does it mean the immigrant child is not included in this? |

babajeje123: Speak to your pastor / imam to help. They have the responsibility of helping you with some amount, if not all, for your kids' application. I am a Catholic and it doesn't work like that in the Catholic church. I am still talking to people though. Thank you for your input. |

Cyberknight: Did you try using your bank app? They allow you to make applications in-app and not all ask you for any details of status in the UK, I know NatWest doesn't. If you have a Nigerian association where you are, you could try fundraising through there. There are quite a few fundraisers going on in ours, and people do contribute in little ways. I presume you'd have already tried the [Nigerian] religious centre option, if you have one. I want to know if a fee waiver for the kids can be made? If yes, does it require engaging the services of a lawyer or the parent can make it on his own? I am sorry if my questions are becoming too much. |

Viruses: Consider these options:
Personal (bank) loan Payday loan (check google for providers) Bank overdraft Credit card (increase the limit or apply for more if you have exhausted the limits in your current one) Loan from family and friends Salary advance from work (speak to your HR)
Finally, book a flight and let them go back home to Nigeria before their visas expire. When you raise money, apply for them to join you as dependants just like you want to apply for them now and there won't be any issues.
You have used your credit card, you have borrowed loan, in your shoes, I would personally go with this last option rather than incur more debt. It's not a big deal so don't overthink it. It will even give you time to do more work and stabilise your finances. I would have love to go with the last option. But in all honesty there is no one to look after them if they go back to Nigeria. I tried applying for loan but they wouldn't give me because my visa is expiring soon. |

Zahra29: An extension isn't possible under these circumstances.
What are the children's ages? Try everything in your power to submit their applications in time - can you borrow the money or get a loan? Do you have a credit card you could use?
If they become overstayers it'll cost you more in the long run to regularise their status. They would either need to leave the UK and reapply as your dependants from Nigeria or depending on their ages, apply for regularisation based on the 7 year child private life route. Their age ranges from 10 & 8. The money for the parents is a loan. Credit cards by the hubby is just 500 and 200, and has been used to some extent. Is there no way that they could be given time to work and raise money for the kids to apply later, even if their visa has expired? |

Zahra29: Outcomes vary depending on the caseworker. They will usually ask about the whereabouts of the children before deciding the application. If you explain your financial challenges, the caseworker might accept this and proceed to grant your applications, (which is the likely outcome). However there is a small chance they could pause your application until you apply for the children.
When do the children's visas expire? You'll have to submit their applications before the expiry date otherwise they will become overstayers. When do the children's visas expire? They have less than 36 days on their visa. |

Please, what are the likely implications of the kids becoming overstayers. It is very unlikely that the funds for their application can be raised before their visa expires, unless an extention is granted to them. |

Estroller: Try to sort this loan from other sources, credit card cash advance should be your very last resort because it is not cheap and it has very dire consequences for your credit journey more importantly as you are just trying to find your footing. You don't want to start with such weight hanging around your neck. All the best. Thank you for the advice. Please can you point me through, where I can get the loan... I am actually looking at a short term loan that can be paid off in 12 months or before then. Honestly wouldn't want to run afoul of any laws. |

Thank you for sharing your experience. Linkwire: After a lot of research , I saw that getting justice for errors made by your case handler was not a very discussed topic . Not too many people had any proper information and those that did just mumbled everything into very lengthy write ups . I just ignored everything and decided to send a mail to UKVI . I just replied the rejection mail I received and I got a response on the steps to take to get a review , but they wouldn’t review it fast . But what did I have to lose na , so I applied for a review and made the payment, I attached all my evidences and just forgot about it . I was working one day and I saw a mail with an apology attached . Then I received a refund for the review application I sent in . Then I got another mail apologizing and asking me for an account to make a refund of my initial visa application and then another mail telling me that they had removed the visa refusal from my travel history . I was angry , disappointed, and just plain irritated. I informed the school about the reversal of the decision and they advised me to defer the initial admission so they could issue me a new offer . I got the offer , received an updated CAS and then proceeded to apply for a fresh visa . 7 days after , I received a mail that my passport was ready for collection. DHL delivered the very next day , I opened the package , opened my passport and I saw the VISA. I wasn’t excited , I didn’t feel any relief , there’s was no sense of conquering . I just felt blank . I’m in the UK now and I don’t feel any different. I still wish I could meet that case worker in person and just ask what he/she was thinking or drinking when handling my initial application . I just want to know if UKVI applied any sanction to the case worker for making such an error .
Anyway , I wish everyone applying for a visa the best of luck . And please put it at the back of your mind , it’s human beings reviewing your applications and they can make mistakes . And if you ask me , most of those decisions are taken At TLS . Just my thoughts .
See you all soon in the UK. God save the King ! |

continue Linkwire: Let me share my UKVI and visa experience with everyone , It could be useful to someone here.
It may be a long read but I hope the write up is as engaging as I have it in my thoughts . This happened to me personally and not a third party.
I decided to take the step to leave the country after so many years of loyalty and deep belief that Nigeria would get better soonest . Well until last year when dollar rate took a very sad turn. I woke up one day feeling tired and in desperate need to get out . The fastest route , tier 4 visa was the go to path to leave Nigeria . I quickly applied for admission , secured it , placed money that I had saved over the years inside a savings account and waited for it to hit the 28 days mark. As soon as that happened, I approached the aboki selling dollar at Diya street gbagada to buy some dollars for visa application and IHS . I had done the TB test and everything was looking super.
I applied for the visa and the proceeded to TLS VI for biometrics , no single hitch . I was already preparing myself mentally for the struggle involved with JAPA and readying my mind for study .
I was at home , just chilling and waiting for a collection mail , I mean I had crossed the Ts and dotted the Is. days turned into weeks and weeks became a month plus , still no message . Worried about the development, I sent a paid mail only to receive a response that a decision had not been made. I became quite disturbed and started looking for some hope anywhere, visited nairaland severally to see if anyone had similar experiences.
Lo and behold, some people had the same experience but theirs was quickly resolved as they either got NSF mails, or mails for collection. I kept the hope alive but it was flickering . Then boom, one day I received a mail , and the mail was from UKVI saying that i underpaid IHS and that I should quickly pay the balance of 2800 dollars. I laughed because I felt it was a scam. I mean how much is IHS gan gan sef that I will now pay that much . I ignored this email and continued waiting. It was now 2 months , still nothing . I sent another paid mail , next day , same IHS mail came in. I ignored it again and waited , and this happened 2 more times and next thing I saw was a comprehensive mail from UKVI rejecting my application .
I was broken, I felt I had lost all hope in life and I was distraught . I held my cool and then I opened up the mail. Only for me to see that UKVI said I was a woman , going to join my husband who was a student as a dependent . Note that i am male and not a female son to my parents , so I was confused. When did i become a woman, I ran to my application to confirm again , maybe I made a mistake , but my application was fine . AHHHH, it was already September , and classes were starting in a week , I didn't know when I said "Egbami, this UKVI will not kill me ". I quickly started researching ways to seek redress , because how ?
...to be continued . |
